  1. I have a hard time believing your boots feel tight. judging by your foot size and boot size. I would have thought you would be swimming in them, and need smaller size. They aren't heat mouldable, they break in over time. kind of a memory foam. the liner is very thin though.
  2. interesting, but too much money for old tech. http://www.saltypeaks.com/products/401/Burton-Speed-Alpine-Race-Snowboard-178cm.html
  3. my understanding is a 26 will fit feet from 26.0to26.9 Having said that you would fit a UPZ 26. A head 26 unlikely. Based on the fact my foot is 27.4 cm, and I feel my UPZ 27's have lots of room. My Head 27's that are almost new are really tight, but have a thicker liner that may pack out more. With some work with a boot fitter, you should be ok.
  4. hey corey, you could uncrew the tongues and take them off, that may help. They aren't that hard to put back on.
  5. The easiest to find metric cap screws are usually of the allen head variety. Loctite thread locker for fasteners under 1/4" is of the color purple. check the Loctite website, there is program of sorts for narrowing down which product you want. I don't think 242 blue is too strong though, it's considered removable strength for 1/4"-3/4".
  6. Well it may very well be my technique, but I can't carve a heel side to save my life while riding duck. I don't consider myself a real good softboot rider either though. And I don't think riding duck is contributing to the decline of snowboarding. Riding duck with a wide stance on a board short enough for a twelve year old doesn't lend it self to good carving technique. But I do see CASI guys carving in this way. Skis that make it harder to carve and easier to slide are the norm right now, and skiing is on somewhat of an upswing.
  7. Well with all the talk about the end of alpine and such. I was wondering about what the average age on the forum is. So I went looking for a poll.
  8. here is a poll. not a enough to make a judgement on hardboots population though really.
  9. Ya I'm pretty sure we aren't getting any new Boots to choose from. But the good news is ski boots are a lot softer than they were 10 years ago, but at the same time they have less forward lean. Speaking of which, I wonder if UPZ sells more boots for skiing than snowboarding. It appears they designed the shell around the idea that they had two markets for it. Did it work? Hey what is the average age on the forum. Has there been a meaningful poll. I'm thirty.
  10. ok so the teleboard is pretty much the most stupid thing on snow. At least you don't have to worry about heel lift gizmos. Why do people know what this is? I think they should run an alpine board boot on the front and the tele boot on the back. Was there really more alpine riders in like 93-97 than now, or did it just represent a larger percentage of the boarders at the time.
  11. Honestly what is a Teleboard? At whistler I seen what looks like a monoboard but with a non release binding.
  12. Well I'm not using the washers on the 4x4. I can't see the adjusting bolt being replaceable. Isn't there an external hex as well. If it's philips looking on those it's probably pozi drive. I've seen ski binding screws workout by Regular Philips work quite well with a proper pozi drive screw driver. Don't adjust for boot length with boot in binding. adjust first then try the boot.
  13. Because of the heel on the upz is pulled in so far. In order to center the boot on the board you may need to flip blocks for that reason. I have had my upz's in td3 standards the front bail is tight on the sides of the boot. It will be tight on the sides and the front at the same time. I don't like it but people live with it.
  14. The memorial service was very well done. Attended by approximately 250 people. Two friends attended via Skype from Australia, family and friends from as far away as Ottawa were in attendance. As well as his dog fred, his road bike, the majority of his board and ski collection. Every guest was treated with a couple onces of beer so they could enjoy one last beer with Greg. There were multiple speakers telling stories and experiences they had with Greg. Which painted a picture of Greg being able to relate to people from all walks of life. Which was seen in the crowd and the people there. There were stories of his great sense of humour, and about a few pranks he had pulled on people over the years. I wish I had more time to meet some of the people there, as I had only met a handful of them. There was a banner put above his equipment "until we ride again". I'll miss riding with my friend Greg. http://www.legacy.com/guestbooks/princegeorgecitizen/guestbook.aspx?n=gregory-pichler&pid=162418538 http://www.princegeorgecitizen.com/article/20130116/PRINCEGEORGE0101/301169996/-1/PRINCEGEORGE/
  15. In response to Wendell. Hard boots can be awkward. In your limited time on alpine equipment have you felt that locked carve yet? Some will get stuck in that first carve, not knowing how to get out of it. But crave the feeling afterwards. Are your those soft angles 21/12 or 21/-12? 55/55 is probably not a good starting point. Running with same front and rear angles isn't very common. Feels terrible to me. Try 55/50 or 55/50 or 55/47. Catek are extremely stiff, good for lots adjustment though. If you were to use them on a good stiff softboot board. Running angles of 45/ 40 or less. You can relocate the longer set screws to run lots of inward cant on the back foot. Bindings like snowpro and f2. Also allow alot of cant and lift. But much more binding flex, which makes things more forgiving at slow speed edge to edge slide turns. Sidewinders also are great too. But stiffer heel to toe. Once you learn to drop the knees on hardboots. Riding groomers on softboots will be annoying with the heel toe drag. Only run as much angle needed to eliminate drag.
  16. In my small corner of the snow sliding world. Skiing has rebounded but only back to 50/50 on a soft powder hill. The ratio of skiers to boarders has always varied depending on the hill. Steepness and snow seems to dictate the ratio. What I can say is what is CASI thinking with the freestyle portion of a level three. To me it's like putting an age cap on their instructors. I'm more than fine with a freestyle endorsement but this is silly.
  17. How did you find out? Do you know anything about a funeral?

  18. He's not a forum member if that markes a difference
  19. Well I rode Washington today. Some pretty good carving terrain. Did some runs with a guy named mike. He rode the heck out of a 162 ultra prime. Pulling 360's off of Everything. Yes in the air.
  20. About the upz. Well the fit is what most say. Tight heel wide toe box. The short sole length is a farce. Getting them centered on a board can be difficult. With some Bindings like ibex/Burton. They now come with tnuts in the heel for Intec adapters. But should have the toes done as well. They improved the type of screws over the old ones. Which means they know they have a problem.
  21. It was another great weekend of carving. Thanks Steve for the pics. Thanks to everyone for not being to hard on me for skiing Sunday. Those of you that were There post who you are, I'm not sure of everyone's forum name. I'm Jeremy Wright.
  22. Ya it was my rear one too. I think my last set got broke in slowly as I Iearned. The liners are very thin. But the tighter the fit the colder the feet. 15 years ago when my ski boots were two sizes to big. My feet would sweat at -25 Celsius.
  23. Good thing you got it fixed. My 08 rtr are exactly the same and I never had problems. So I swapped liners. The toe box is so much roomier than my technica icon x ski boots. They feel warm to me. Was it your front or back foot?
  24. Report says five lifts. They have six with the two carpets
