  1. are the boot soles on the dalebello in good shape? Not modified? any issues with them in ski bindings?
  2. Custom shaping is no extra from donek.. Glass board $750 usd I believe. 850 can from coiler about the same right now I guess.
  3. Two words Hazelwood custom. Talk to Sean Martin at Donek
  4. The most important thing in a lesson is safety and making sure it's an enjoyable experience. You can't have them falling and breaking wrists left, right and center. An instructor needs to modify the lesson plan accordingly. Lots of students aren't going to turn in the first hour, and a totally directional stance isn't going to help that. All though I do believe it's important for them know what foot they like forward. A more realistic approach is to encourage a series of lessons to reach the goal of turning. Some students may get confused which foot the they have forward, if I'm certain from other info they are a particular way. changing from 15/-15 to 18/-10 and so on may help that. Snowboarding is a misunderstood sport for sure. More technical than people realize. Unfortunately most only get one lesson and never come back. So they stick to what the know, doing their falling leaf down the hill. Changing edges by actually going right foot forward then left depending if they are on heels or toes, kind of like a three point turn.
  5. I'm from up north I always say a frozen puddle or icy parking lot. Stupid CASI and their soccer ball thing.
  6. How many of you run more than +3-6 degrees on the back foot in soft boots? Me 21 front -3 or zero on back.
  7. They must be sold as a group? What are the specs on the 180?
  8. GO WIDER!!! Pointless to be in hard boots, if you have any possibility of booting out. You could run 70/70, but it doesn't leave as much room for error. An 18 cm board gets you into the turn like a light switch as it is:eek:.
  9. These guys rock, like Rob said the heel side is amazing. But my questions are, How wide are these boards? And what size feet do they have? any time I try what their doing, I just dig something in and down I go. But I don't ride soft often enough to find the max edge angle I can achieve without booting out.
  10. Is RJ out there somewhere? Interested in a board. I would like to talk to more than a computer before I send any money. Contact us page on exoticboards.com is blank.
  11. too late for any tickets. is lodging a disaster to try and book now.
  12. don't worry steve no one steal that funny looking thing.
  13. I 've been using my friends 66 burton frontier. On the local hill. It's time I bought my own shorter softboot board. Some nice looking options from head. Are they good ? Topline cambered freeride wuth intelifibers full retail 399
  14. Are you planning to ride with soft or hard? My 185 hazelwood (12-14m rad) is a lot stiffer than my 192 tanker (10.5 rad). I'm 5'10" 180 lbs, I wouldn't recommend my hazelwood with softboots. but haven't tried that yet. i'm sure sean can build them softer though. Mine was the demo posted on the forum here. The noodle like tanker is better in powder so far, more forgiving, softer nose. Long boards work awesome in 30+cm of powder on blue squares, which is the norm on my home mountain. If the hill was steeper, a 172 with a bit of width would work great I think.
  15. Must be running UPZ's? My upz size 27. I Almost max out the heal adjustment centering my snopros but it works. My understanding is turning around the heal blocks on td's fixes the problem. Haven't done it myself
  16. What boots? And what size?
  17. maybe it was just the whole video thing, but that run needed a steeper pitch.
  18. I regret to inform you the Head stratos pro are no longer in production. you'll need a plane ticket to try on Hard boots anyway. You may find some NOS or used heads around. Measure your foot in centimeters and post in the WTB thread.
  19. I haven't skied or boarded Panorama but it may be good for carving. Big Canuck gave it props.
  20. I have the Ride Crew's, good stiff boots. Dual boa's. bottom and top drawstring on the inside. I ended up with a mondo 28. Ride needs to check there measurement again. I measure 27.2 and 27.4, I have virtually no extra length. It is a fairly narrow boot. I recommend looking for a boot with both boa's working on the outside. so the bottom can be looser than the top. The draw string works fine on the liner.
  21. Skiing, will always be: 1. the better tool than a snowboard for most everything except deep pow and truly great layout carves. 2. will always be colder than snowboarding 3. will always be more far more tiring than soft booting, but less tiring than hardbooting (ie; the 1/4 day lift ticket is your best option). 4. will always be like bringing a gun to a knife fight. Too much power. It overwhelms most mountains. As a result most all ski areas $uck. You have to travel far, $$$$, and you have to find that big, mogul, double black slope or you just stay home and watch skiing on TV. 1. Snowboarding will beat skiing in deep pow. But I think you need a man's board to do that, not these kids boards the mainstream brands are building. 2. True 3. Skiing is not nearly as tiring as snowboarding of either kind for me. 4. Kind of true, but short skis help the fun on a small hill. but puts more stress on my knees.
  22. My feet measure 100mm wide max. In about the mid foot. Some days my feet hurt for a few hours after I take them off. But 75% of the time they are perfect. So if my feet were any wider I would need shell work.
  23. I'm going to start a new thread. Maybe the moderator can move the up questions.
