  1. I know that Dave put something up before but I am going to give this a big push as we believe it deserves it. Billy Winters is a Steamboat, CO trained racer who qualified for the Junior Worlds in China next month to represent the US. If you have been to a SES in the past few years you have undoubtedly seen Billy carve it up with the best of us. The kid is more than just talented, he is driven. I should also mention, for full disclosure, that Billy is also a sponsored rider of both Bomber (bindings) and Donek (snowboards). I personally love the fact that Billy has shown quite a few racers that you can win national races on US domestic gear. Too many NA racers have convinced themselves it has to be from "over there" to win on. Billy has shown them all, that is not the case. Rock on Billy. Billy's dad, Dave, has been his biggest advocate and not only supports him but is his coach. And Dave is VERY active in the carve community and always steps up at the SES with some amazing prizes from his wood shop. This is a huge achievement and unfortunately a huge cost as well for Billy and his parents. So I think we, the carving community, need to step-up and make this happen for Billy and his family. There is a "crowd funding page" for Billy and his cause here: https://ussa.rallyme.com/rallies/1456/billys-fund Right now they are halfway there but still not 100%. So go to the link, open your virtual wallet and let's get this guy to Worlds so he can show them what we got here in the USA. As a side, here is the website where they will be posting the schedule and the results. Also worth mentioning is Billy qualified for BX. Double trouble coming from Uncle Sam baby! http://data.fis-ski.com/dynamic/event-details.html?event_id=36249&cal_suchsector=SB
  2. Pow4ever, As Corey said, not a problem and we do this every SES, bring order with us. What I would do is this: place you order for what you need at the store. But select "pay later" )or something like that) option and put a note in the check-out area to Michelle that you will be picking it up at SES. She'll get back to you and we'll get it going. See you soon! Conditions should be excellent as we are getting snow right now and through Thursday.
  3. Don't forget we are set-up on the TieHack side of ButterMilk. It has it's own parking lot right there at the chair. Saturday (first day) will be the toughest (show up early) but after that and all week easy to park at.
  4. That Guy... As always, like to state we make the BTS so take all my opinions knowing that. We have sold BTS units to people just to address shin-bang with a certain level of success. The BTS allows the boot to flex forward more and in a controlled linear manner. Also, the springs don't care what the temperature is so they don't get stiffer in colder temps like the plastic on the boot do. To address this issue I would suggest either the blue springs or the yellow ones. You can even do a hybrid, and run the yellow on top (toe side) and the blue on bottom (heel side). That said, I have found that shin bang is (unfortunately) more a function of technique. But (fortunately) that also means it can be addressed with some simple changes to your technique. I base this from the non-scientific observation that we see shin-bang more in the beginner to intermediate curve. And those considered "excellent carvers" now rarely get shin bang if at all. More than happy to chat about BTS more here or drop us a line any time and can discuss more to see if we think t will help.
  5. Lamby, Of course I am bias as I make the BTS but I can tell you this. It will always make the boot softer vs the stock lock-out mechanism. So if you want the boot to feel softer, then a BTS will allow for that. If you give your height and weight, we can also help pick witch springs to go with. Call or e-mail any time with other questions.
  6. Thanks to Michelle following through with these guys we got a pretty good plug for hard boot snowboarding this month in "5280". Link HERE Not too bad at all. Not happy we are third fiddle to snow-biking but take the press where you can!
  7. SunSurfer, We have never done reservations before as it has it's own issues. And it always just seems to work itself out in years past. Just show up early and be ready to go.
  8. Best quote of the year. Heck decade! This is my opinion as well. Go try as many new styles and methods as you can and then take and barrow from each and make the style that works for you. I honestly think this will make you a better all around rider. I see to many "one dimensional" carvers at SES. Sure they get good at it but, then it seems they just stop learning and stick ti what they are good at. Diversity is what will make our sport grown. Imagine if all hardbooters on hill just did one "homogenized" style? It would be VERY boring after a while. If everyone just made race turns, or there where a hill full of riders simulating Joerg's style, or all everyone ever did was extreme carve, etc there would be little growth in the sport and it would stall. It does make me sigh a little when I hear someone say "this is how you should do it". Says who? As carvers if we followed that rule we would all still be on softboots. We are the group that does NOT do what they tell us. That said, I really like what Joerg does and his energy is infectious. I just put up the clinic schedule HERE and we have two clinic by Joerg during the SES week. I invite anyone there to come join and try a different style and then make your own choice as to what you take from it.
  9. OK, finally got the schedule for the clinic at the 2015 SES. However, I want everyone to keep in mind two things here: These are no charge The guys running these are not getting paid, they just love to do these * Also, we reserve the right to change this schedule at any given time for any reason. * This schedule is also included on the current general schedule for the SES HERE Sunday the 8th - Snowmass: Beginner clinic with Evan - demo tent at 10am - * must know how to at least snowboard Intermediate clinic with Corey - demo tent at 10am PureBoarding clinic with Jeorg - demo tent at 1pm Monday the 9th - ButterMilk: Open clinic with Corey - demo tent at 1pm * we will talk to the group and find three skills the group will want to work on at the time of the clinic Wedneday the 11th - Highlands: Women.s clinic with Richard - demo tent at 10am PureBoarding clinic with Jeorg - demo tent at 1pm Thursday the 12th - Snowmass: Steeps clinic with Richard - video analysis that night at the Bomber house (time TBA) - demo tent at 10am If you have any questions on these clinics, ask here in this thread and we'll answer. If anyone is doing the beginner clinic on Sunday and needs demo gear, make sure to be at the demo tent at 9am to get set-up. See everyone soon!
  10. Bomber now has an app for setting up the Bomber Trench Digger series of bindings, the TrenchGear3D. Huge thank you to the work of Scott Firestone for creating this app. The iTunes app store. It works great with a later edition iPad, iPhone, or iPod. Just search for TrenchGear3D, or use this link: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/trenchgear3d/id898156375 The Google Play store. Try it on a later Android tablet or phone: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.AlpineCarving.TG3D&hl=en Or, run the app right in your web browser - no tablet/phone needed! The browser version will first ask you to download and install the Unity3D game engine plug-in, and then you're set: http://www.alpinecarving.com/tg3d The app has some very cool graphics and ability to view our binding in various ways. However, the core information you get is the derived cant and lift numbers as you rotate the base plate versus the cant disk. For example the two screen shots below: The first picture I am using a 6 degree cant disk set at the same angle as the base plate, 50 degrees (as seen at the top of the screen). So of course the derived cant is zero and the lift is 6 degrees (as seen in the red circles). Now in the second picture I have the base plate still at 50 degrees but the cant disk at 90 degrees (the slope in inline with the board, a very common set-up). Now the derived cant = 3.9 deg and the derived lift is 4.5 degrees. So if it helps you to see these derived cant and lift angles, this app can do that no problem. Scott has told me he plans to do a few upgrades to the app over time but if you have a wish list of something you would like to see, post it here.
  11. Barry, Try this one; Frank(at)virus-snowsports.com
  12. Photo Caption Contest Yep, been a while but we felt it was time to bring her back! So just put up the latest picture for your enjoyment and torture. We stopped this a while ago as we un-intentionally used a picture someone did not want us to use and we honestly did not have permission to use. So we are trying to make sure we do not do that this time but if we do, please let us know in a civil non-threatening way. We'll take it down and apologize. That said, we sure could use more pictures. So please e-mail me any goofy snowboard pics you have. Hard-boot gear is always the best, but anything will work.
  13. Have a good one guys! Please post many pictures of the trenching. I want to see customer at the hill pissed with the trenching. Oh, is this the normal Canadian past time? http://forums.bomberonline.com/index.php?/topic/40975-photo-contest-january-2015-yes-its-back/
  14. Neil, Drop Sean at Donek a line as I think he still has a lot of "test" Rev boards he would like to find homes for at a good price. Are you doing much with BX this year?
  15. snowboardfast, We are working on finalizing all the clinics right now. I still need to hear back from Joerg to finalize when he can do a clinic. He has done one pretty much every SES so I am guessing the same this year. Hold tight, and I'll be back with the details.
  16. Yep, just got that one going this morning. I wanted that one as I find it helpful to know where someone is from when you read their posts. Just need to figure out this darn "Latest Posts" on the front page of BOL.
  17. Bomber is Hiring! Bomber is growing and we are looking for someone who wants to join us. We are currently looking for someone to help us with sales, shipping, events, website maintenance, and good old customer service. We are looking to take someone on in the spring to mid-summer. Help relocating here to Summit County, Colorado would also be offered. Please send a basic resume and anything else we should know about you to: bomber@bomberonline.com. If you already live to carve, then come do it with us full time!
  18. Time will tell if we made any full time converts. But at least we raised the awareness and that s a huge start.
  19. Every year we try to do a few of these and I am always amazed at how much fun they are. We have contacts at some of the ski school here in Colorado and they get a group of their snowboard instructors to sign up and try alpine snowboarding for a day. We set all the gear up before hand at the shop based from their stats we get from a sign-up sheet. This was on Wednesday at Vail. Lowell Hart was the lead on this and organized the day. Conditions where pretty darn good, if I had to complain it was almost too warm and we had some soft snow where the sun was. The thing with these instructors is: They are skilled snowboarders They tend to listen and learn fast There is no fear, as they are generally comfortable at their hill So it tends to make for a very accelerated learning curve. And in one day we have introduced 10 new snowboarders to hard-booting! We do wish we could do these around the country at more ski schools but the logistics are too much right now. Keep in mind this is their first day on hard boots. Pretty amazing to watch. And big thank you to Donek Snowboards with helping us supply them with enough boards.
