  1. Did you get rain last night or snow? Thinking about getting out there this week but not if it rained.
  2. As long as we're trading stories - two seasons ago, I folded it so hard that the nose of the board came up and broke my goggles. Real lucky it didn't break my face. Oh ya, and the board was smashed beyond repair too. I don't know how you really "learn" not to do that. When I ride aggressively, I load the front of the board. Then it folds, there's no warning.
  3. They are interchangeable on all Raichle/Deeluxe boots that I have owned (5-6 pairs).
  4. That's why it's called a "Valley", I guess. Even funnier is North York Ski Centre in Toronto. It's in the middle of the city. You drive up and there is nothing. When you get closer, you realize you're at the top of the hill and you ski down a ravine. Our other local hill is a garbage dump. Literally. They pilled up 100 feet of landfill in the 70's and called it Centennial ski hill. My son is teaching there this year. At least I don't have to worry about him hurting himself.
  5. Confirmed on their website. I'm guessing MSLM will be open also.
  6. Hey, is it too late for me to get in shape?
  7. I think Mont Blanc is going to win out. The rates with lodging and meals are amazing. I hope the food is good.
  8. I'm looking for a ski resort for the family. I'd like to find something with ski in/out accomodation and preferably within 7 hours drive from Toronto. That rules out Quebec City. I also do not want to go to Tremblant. Been there too many times. I'm thinking Mont Blanc or Eastern Townships. I've been to Bromont and enjoyed it but I don't want to rule out the other resorts in the Townships. I have never been to Mont Blanc. Thoughts? Ideally, I'd like to find a lot of intermediate terrain with wide runs to give me room to rip a carving board.
  9. Oh yes, forgot to mention: Many podium finishes with this board!
  10. This is the perfect setup for the young racer or carver. Not sure how old this board is but my kids used it for 3 seasons and another BOL member's kid used it for a season or two before that. Not sure about its history prior to that owner. Although you can see that it has been well enjoyed, we're talking 100 lb. kids here so the board has many years left. Base and edges are near perfect with good structure from a recent pro tune (by Sporting Life, who does Bruce's work). Not sure of the specs but I compared it to a Donek Pilot 152 and the sidecut looked identical. Bindings are SnowPro Race Ltd. This is an aluminum baseplate binding with beefy 6mm bails. There are cosmetic scratches on the paint. Included is a very sturdy, custom board bag. Complete package for $300 plus shipping.
  11. I've owned two pairs. I didn't like the original Olympics. The cant pins destroyed the base plate over time and I found the kingpin would loosen occasionally. The second (current) Olympics were better but I ended up selling them and buying F2s. The F2s are simple. Like you said, the Cateks have too many parts.
  12. I'm in. I'll try not to let the weather spook me this year.
  13. Venture Snowboards in CO has a good rep for building adult boards (ie. not targeted towards teenage boys).

    windows 7

I have owned Macs on and off for the past 15 years but I kept going back to Windows due to software selection. When the Intel Macs came out, that limitation was removed due to the ability to boot into Windows. That made me switch, once and for all. Then I never did install Boot Camp. I kept finding Mac apps that were as good or better than the Windows equivalent, many of them high quality shareware. The only Windows app I miss is Picasa. Ironically, I find a Windows app to be better for image management than iPhoto, Aperture or Lightroom for Mac (for me). Ironic because the Mac is supposed to be the preferred platform for creative work.
  15. Do you golf? Not only do you have a quiver, you have 14 opportunities to acquire, hoard, tinker and spend money. At the start of this golf season, I thought my bag was set but since then, I've changed everything but my driver. Even as the season ends, I can't resist and recently acquired a new wedge.

You can still order a Dell with XP. I did it recently for a friend. I went all-Mac a couple of years ago and haven't regretted it.
  17. 173 Freecarve with 10.5m sidecut. I can make that thing turn super tight. I wanted an easy rider for hardpack Eastern hills.
  18. I doubt it. Even TD1s still trade at respectable prices.
  19. Didn't some guy last year modify his TD2s by cutting out the centre portion just like the new TD3s? And some people jumped on him about how this made the bindings unsafe?
  20. Perfect for shooting those carving videos. I bought this camcorder last December and used it very little since. I have about 20 hours on it. It comes with all accessories as pictured and two optional filters for lens protection. Condition is "as new". The camcorder is one of the best reviewed HD machines out there. I did my research before purchasing. Asking $600.00 P.S. - the image is not of my camcorder but it is identical to what I am selling.
  21. Burying it is a great idea. It will eventually break down and the materials are relatively inert. And who knows, some day, an archeologist might dig it up and put it in a museum.
  22. Reminds me of the time I thought I lost all my fishing rods (or had them stolen). I went out and bought four brand new ones. A week later, I found my old ones, propped up, behind a door. Take my advice on this - forget about the board, go about your daily tasks and you will find it.
  23. Didn't we go through this with Madd a few years ago? I remember people being upset about the quality of the boards and Madd-fans telling them they should be grateful that they were getting boards at all. I'm on the side where if you can't deliver the goods and service, then you really shouldn't be in the business. Bomber, Donek, Prior and Coiler provide service above and beyond what would be expected from a big name. Last I checked, Bruce had one employee, yet, he manages. We all vote with our wallets and Catek needs to come clean on what's going on or this thread will do them some damage.
