  1. Maybe these will come in the mail today ... then I can write a review after a day at Wolf Creek tomorrow.
  2. Where does the line start? :D I can't wait to hear reviews on these things. The FR2's should have been a softboot game-changer, but were too expensive to gain any traction with the knuckle-draggers (masses). I have a feeling people are going to eat these up.
  3. How can a pow-board top-out at a length of 160. REALLY?
  4. I signed up for the bomber mailing list for this reason, but I don't know if they announce their new products via that email list. 4 weeks after Fin's 'week or two' tease is really stretching my patience. :D
  5. The cant-lift pins and king-pins are pretty off-the-shelf hardware. I've seen both at my local ace-hardware. The conventional name for the cant-lift pins is a 'set screw' (metric). T
  6. About time to contact the Newport RI police department, fraud division. If he is taking credit card orders and not doing anything, that's legitimately criminal. I have not been defrauded, otherwise I'd do it myself. T
  7. Actually it's this: http://unofficialnetworks.com/gnar/
  8. You can't be liable for slander if what you're saying is the truth. I'm genuinely curious what has happened to Jeff, I hope he's OK.
  9. I hope everyone purchases online with only their Credit Card; NOT a debit card. From what I understand you get much better fraud protection from the former.
  10. Pretty sweet footage. It's hard to believe that it's not CGI.
  11. I think I can stop trying to figure out what I can replace my 192 with when it finally kicks (02/03 with probably 100 days on it, softboots). I'm temped to find a backup Tanker because it's my go-to-everyday board; I love the thing. But knowing that there's something Colorado made that could perform as well or better, kind of makes me excited to try it. T
  12. Bindings will not disappoint. Have fun.
  13. That's not the point. Things DO break. And not being able to buy replacement parts is almost a deal-breaker. For me it's the toe-strap / boot-plate connection. It's appears to have been partially re-designed in the second version of the FR2's. A manageable fix, but annoying because all four of them broke on me as some point. I've also stripped some of the holes where to heel-cup attaches to the boot-plate. (There are other holes to use, but not many if you need to fit a bigger boot) Whether through user-error or mis-engineering; I don't really care how it happened. I'd just like to call up and order a replacement. Based on others experiences, I haven't even tried. Don't get me wrong, I love these bindings. And they're still rideable (with a toolkit and extra parts). But I've got to look for another solution before I'm going to spend more money with Catek. T
  14. These bindings perform very, very well. Mine are in a state of disrepair after 3 or 4 seasons of hard use. I'm trying some different options this early-season, but would buy them again if nothing performed as well.

    Catek fr2

Those were not the FR2's they were the original catek Freerides, with the older baseplate that dimples with more use. Still a steal at $100.
  16. Shouldn't be more than a 7-10 days (fingers crossed). Fin said 1 to 2 weeks a few days ago.
  17. Where the toe straps connect to the baseplate i've improvised all 4 connections, sometimes twice. Where the heel-cup connects to the baseplate I've stripped out (dunno how) some of the possible holes that work for my bigger boots. I LOVE these bindings, but I'm tired of tightening so many pieces multiple times throughout the day just to make sure I stay safe. And carrying a full set of extra hardware & tools to make sure my riding's not cut short due to failure. Take this with a grain of salt - I've never tried to contact Catek after my purchase of these bindings. Based on others reports I just figured it wasn't worth the aggravation - I just found ways to fix things myself. Maybe if I let them know all the issues I was having they'd send me a new pair?
  18. I am soooooo ready for these. My fr2s are on their last leg after 3 (or 4?) seasons.
  19. My commute is 11 miles one way. My winter bicycle cost me $150. I laugh at all you suckers in your cars!!! :D

    Out of line?

That's painting with a pretty wide brush. Douches are douches. Being a jibber has nothing to do with it.
  21. Catek FR2's were an absolute game-changer for me. I can't imagine a more versatile setup (for me) than FR2's on a big Tanker. With the control I get out of them I've got the confidence to charge my 192 through trees and moguls...(Challenger@MaryJane). Not to mention all that edge really holds a carve. The board eats up 30cm of chop like nothing else, so even with a stiff binding, you're not getting bucked around. T
  22. I cant afford to spend a day on snow not riding my best gear. Maybe its because I dont have a 'good' board yet. Or because my 'rock' board sux compared to my 192. I figure I'm going to buy a new board beore I'm going to fully ruin my good one.
  23. I usually fall when I'm attempting to recover, or over-correcting, from some sort of mishap; means I'm not usually going full speed. And very rarely, from catching an edge. But it depends mostly on how soft the snow is. Lots of powder means I'm going to be going fast and taking chances and falling a few times every run. Early season / hard-pack day and I'm only falling a few times a day, knock on wood. :D Not falling, and being a good rider are two different things; not to be confused.
