  1. I might be interested in the Prior, could you provide some more details? Year, condition of base/edges/topsheet, amount of camber, etc. Thanks!
  2. I'll definately point them toward that site, those are about like the kid prices listed on the A basin website, thanks. As for weather closing, according to this, the closing date is "tentatively" set for June 6, so hopefully I'll be good... the last day we'd be skiing is may 25, so that gives around a 2 week buffer from June 6.
  3. So I will hopefully be taking some friends up to A-Basin for about a week in late May, and we will be on a pretty tight budget. I'm looking for the cheapest hotel/hostel in the Summit/Clear Creek county area. The cheapest I could find so far is the Super 8 in Georgetown, which is about $75 a night for 4 people. My friends have all never skied before, so they will need to rent skis, boots, and poles. A quick google shows that if I go to rentskis.com, I can get skis/boots/poles for $14 a day. Anyone know of anything cheaper than that? Lastly, ski tickets. I have a season pass, which the website says gets "discounted tickets for friends and family." Is there a limit on how many tickets can get this discount, or are there any other coupons/deals to be had? Any advice on how to do this on the cheap would be greatly appreciated! If anyone's still up in late May, just look for the hardbooter hanging out with a bunch of pizza-wedging guys in jeans and say hi!

Copy the text into the reply to thread box in the forum, and then hit submit.
  5. What will it probably look like? I can't predict the future, but my guess is that in the next 5-10 years the sport will continue to grow slowly, but it won't break into the mainstream. New plates such as the vist/hangl will probably gain in popularity with the non-race recreational freecarve crowd. Whenever someone talks about PGS in the Olympics, it will still be followed with "snowboarding's least popular event." What would I like it to look like? I would love to see PGS gain in popularity, which would need a good story for "the media" to sell. Some sort of charismatic breakout new rider, a unique story/background, or even a controversy to get the media's attention. Along the lines of any publicity is good publicity, I guess. I think it would be cool to see alpine riding catch on with more "traditional" park/pipe riders. If they already have a rail board, pipe board, and pow board, they could also have a carving board for days when they want to mix it up. It would still be a niche, but be much more recognised than it is now, maybe even being featured in some films or magazines.
  6. I have a pair of 29 Deeluxe LeMans that I bought new in 2007 and rode about 10 days. They have the fully heat moldable thermoflex liners that have never been molded, and the 5-position lean adjuster. Let me know if you're interested and I'll send you pictures.
  7. The fastest I've recorded was 49.5 with a garmin GPS. Madd 170 on icy early morning groom. I "had" to go fast to make it across a flat transition to another trail. Another time I was at Keystone, and was being lazy and bombing a run, I went over a roller and caught some air on accident. It wasn't really a jump as much as it was I just happened to be flying in the air and didn't really realize it. It was fun in an "oh $h!t" way. And no, the Keystone yellowcoats didn't get me:AR15firin:eplus2:
  8. I don't have a stomp pad, but do occasionally put my foot where one would be. I normally just hold my foot up next to my front foot and/or drag it in the snow. I did find a Dakine spikey stomp pad on the ground at the top of a chairlift over Christmas, though. I might put it on one of my boards, but the bottom has no glue/adhesive on it. Anyone know what I can use to mount it on a board?
  9. I have a Garmin eTrex Venture HC gps that I use with Snow Ranger, which has a pretty detailed map of pretty much every major resort in the country (and you can buy one for Europe also). You can upload your days and see a run by run breakdown of your day. I don't think it's as detailed as Skitrak, but it does have speed, elevation, time, and what runs you were on. As for over the coat or wearable, it probably won't work unless its a pretty warm day. Having it in my outside chest pocket of my shell, it would sometimes randomly turn off, so I started putting it in my fleece under my shell so it would stay warm enough so the batteries wouldn't die.
  10. The loop in University City has a bunch of restaurants/nightlife. I remember Fitz's, which is a restaurant that brews their own rootbeers and sodas, and Blueberry Hill, another restaurant that I remember for some reason, so its probably good. I also think the loop is near Forest Park, which is a city park that is bigger than Central park in NYC. There is also a mall at Union Station near downtown. The arch is always fun, too. I moved away from St. Louis when I was seven, so these places might seem cooler from a kids eyes than yours. Anyway, hope you enjoy your trip.
  11. I don't know what you people did different than me, but my friend suggestions box always has people that I have never heard of and have no mutual friends with. As for those ads on the side, fb tracks what groups you join, what your interests are, etc. and displays ads that you may be interested in. Its just like how a google search has ads relevant to your search, or gmail has that little adbar on top based on what ever you are emailing about. Personally the gmail thing creeps me out a little, but I'm alright with fb getting info from you interests and groups, since you publicly post those on your page anyway. While it may seem weird, I'd rather see ads for backcountry.com than dancing aliens telling me to refinance my house.
  12. I also think there was a Donek Pilot in one of those Cingular/AT&T couch surfer ads, but I might be wrong.
  13. Oh, it's a sailboat. Seriously, I don't see what its supposed to be. Do you have to be really close to the screen?
  14. I will be up at A-basin from amy 25-29. Will anyone else be up that week? It'd be great to meet and get some pointers from you guys. What are conditions like this time of the year? I noticed that the east wall and zuma bowl are still open, but will they still be by the time I'll be up there?
  15. I personally do not smoke, but I think it should be decriminalized and/or regulated. One argument for regulation is that it is harder for minors to get. Today, ask any teenager, and it is easier to get marijuana than alcohol. Instead of getting a fake ID or paying an adult who might screw you over, chances are some one knows a dealer, and no having to worry about going to a store that might lose its liquor license for selling to minors. If marijuana is legalized and regulated for adults, dealers will have to stop selling (marijuana) to kids, because it will no longer be profitable to sell their small crop from their closet/basement to the small demographic (minors), when a large part of their previous customers (adults) are shopping at the local pharmacy. A counter argument to this is that if marijuana is legalized and the dealers stop dealing marijuana to kids, will the kids get into hard drugs that aren't regulated? <object height="344" width="425"> <embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HmYGS4GUYaY&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" height="344" width="425"></object> <embed type="application/x-shockwave-flash" src="http://blip.tv/scripts/flash/showplayer.swf?enablejs=true&feedurl=http%3A%2F%2FZebb.blip.tv%2Frss&file=http%3A%2F%2Fblip.tv%2Frss%2Fflash%2F1362521&showplayerpath=http%3A%2F%2Fblip.tv%2Fscripts%2Fflash%2Fshowplayer.swf" name="plugin" height="100%" width="100%">
  16. Thanks Steve! When you sent it out, did they give you a tracking number? If they did, could you PM me the number? Thanks.
  17. I'm 17, started carving when I was 15. I remember when I rented my first carving board from bomber, Fin and Michelle were excited to have a younger person interested in carving. The sad thing is that a bunch of you guys that are older than my dad could probably own me on the hill... but I guess I have plenty of time to improve!
  18. This helps visualizing all these cant/lift adjustments.
  19. Hey Steve, I sent the money out today, you should get it sometime early next week.
  20. Hi, I might be interested in these boots, but first I need to thoroughly kick the tires:) Are the liners thermoFIT (partially moldable in heel/tongue) or thermoFLEX (fully heat moldable)? Is the lean mechanism 3 position or 5 position? Are the cant adjusters in good condition? Are the t-nuts in the heel in good condition, and is there a hole for an intec cable to go through? How sturdy is the added buckle, can it be tightened as much as the others? Thanks
  21. I might be interested if Civ doesn't want them. It looks like you added something on the cant adjusters, do they still work properly? Is there a hole for intec cables in the heel, and are the t-nuts in the heel in good condition? Thanks
  22. I thought I was supposed to do this on my toesides, because isn't doing this facing the nose of the board (or near it)? When I rotate, should I be rotating my shoulders independently of my hips (twisting my torso), or do I rotate my entire torso so my hips stay relatively parallel to my shoulders? Most of the riding in the video was done on a 3800 with angles around 45*, so the counter-rotation on heelsides might not be as bad on my Madd. The only shot of me on the Madd is the last shot at the end, and it was on a pretty flat spot, so I wasn't carving very hard. The next time I get on the hill, I'll try to get some more footage of me on my Madd. I'll be up the weekend after SES at A-basin or keystone if anyone wants to take a few extra days off work to give me some pointers;) Anyway, thanks for the advice, keep it coming!

I'm not sure if this is the right video, but it has been posted here a few times before: <object height="300" width="400"> <embed src="http://vimeo.com/moogaloop.swf?clip_id=1778399&server=vimeo.com&show_title=1&show_byline=1&show_portrait=0&color=&fullscreen=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" allowscriptaccess="always" height="300" width="400"></object> wingsuit base jumping from Ali on Vimeo.
