  1. Lol, I thought of that song too, but what is that video of?
  2. I say you email them back and ask for a SPECIFIC time that any one has ever been injured by a trench. If they have a specific example, or even if they don't, this is really not their liability, because they most likely have some sort of release that is on the back of the ticket or somewhere that says that any old person that falls in a trench there can't sue the ski area, because by purchasing the ticket, they have released all liability from the ski area. Plus all of that "skier's responsibility" code stuff and "unmarked obstacles may be encountered at any time" sort of thing should be made apparant that they can't always to get first tracks.Or maybe at the start of every run a carver does, they should set a sign that says "warning: trenches ahead. By being within 500 feet of this sign, whether consciously aknowledging its presence or not, you accept the fact that you may have serious injury or even DIE because of another persons small track in this wide-open trail, and any damages caused to you, any of your possessions, or loved ones, is your own responsibility." That should clear things up for people. What a world we live in... ...On the bright side, I guess it is sort of reassuring that we live in a world where people can worry so much about the shape of someone's turn in a recreational snow sport instead of having to worry about feeding ourselves and finding shelter...
  3. Hope you had a good time. I was at Red River all week, but the day before taos opened, I broke the cant adjuster thing on my boot and hurt my ankle. I was going to rent a hardboot setup (or at least boots) from Experience Snowboards in Angel Fire, but all they had for rent were boots w/o intec (I had to explain to him what an intec heel was) and I have intec bindings. Then I thought I would rent a softboot setup and ride taos with that, but the soft flex hurt my ankle too much... So I decided to learn to ski. Wednesday I was on the beginner lifts learning to snowplow and parallel; the second day I started doing some blues; and by the third day I was carving. It was pretty fun, but different than snowboard carving, definitely a lot faster. I guess some good came out of this, but I still wish I could have made it to Taos! I wanna see some pics and video of what I missed! It sounds like you had a good time, and I will definitely have to go their next season.
  4. The song that is unchecked will not play, unless you specifically click on that song. I am not sure if it will load onto the iPod or not, though. I guess its main use is to uncheck a song if you are tired of it coming up too much in shuffle or something like that.

  6. You should have picked it up and started eating it mid-carve. Or if you were feeling uber extreme, you could have gone into an armpit-dragging extreme carve and picked it up with your mouth. ...That gives me an idea. "Carving for apples": there is an apple on the slope and you have to carve and pick it up with your mouth.
  7. Yep, it will ALL be open for riders. From ridetaos.org: There are a few long catwalks, but they can be avoided. There is one that goes from the backside of the mountain to the backside, but you can take a few lifts to get back to the frontside without having to take that catwalk.
  8. Whatever you do to get that hair off, do it. Strait from the source of World Cup quality tunes, the Precision Tuning Center: These guys must have a lot of experience getting rid of hairs.
  9. Then Scrape it off to make sure it is only in his pores...
  10. Usually the first thing they say is, "Is that one of them uniboards for curving them slanty snow streets?", but I can't tell what the first thing they think is, because I do not possess the ability to read thoughts like you do, Bob... ...Although, I must agree that Blink-182 is not the best choice for carving music. I'm not saying that it is bad music, just that it doesn't go perfectly with the video. If you really don't like the music that much, you can just mute the video and listen to your own music. Don't let the music ruin a great carving video!!!
  11. Was it on some sort of wildlife preserve that is restricted, at a ski area, or on unmaintained public land (i.e. the backcountry)? What state was it in? I doubt it was in Colorado, because they are clearly ok with it. They have parking for "backcountry users" and signs warning of avalanche blastings. Nowhere on the signs does it say that backcountry "using" is not permitted. Also, since ski areas are on land that is managed by a private company (the resort), would the laws be changed to count as a private land vs. a federal one?
  12. - kind of nsfw, kind of offensive. VERY funny.
  13. I will be going opening day. I am betting it will be a complete zoo, because everyone is out on spring break, plus everyone that isn't will skip work to go out the first day. I also bet the 18th will be bad too, because all the skiers will want to go out to be a part of the "end of an era". I have been planning ahead and already I'm looking at what runs they usually groom. Plus I bet on the first day they will groom even more than regular to accommodate the single-plank riders. Has anyone heard of Experience Snowboards? According to the Bomber dealer's page, they have Hardboot gear (at least TD2's), so the owner or someone that works their might be a hardbooter.
  14. F2 bindings are flexible, but Catek's are very stiff.
  15. On BOL, in the "For Sale" forum, and at raceboarders.com, click on the ebay button at the top.
  16. Welcome to BOL! At 14, you are probably still growing, so you should also think about that in considering what size of board you are going to get. I have heard All-mountain boards are easier to learn on, but as you get better at carving, you might want a more carve specific board, especially since you already have a powder setup. If you do decide to go with an all-mounain board, there are 3 popular boards: Donek Axxess (better suited for groomers, but can go off-piste), Prior 4WD (better in powder than the Axxess), and Coiler AM (better in the trees). With all of these boards, look for the shortest lenghts. If you decide to go with a freecarve board, pretty much any slalom board would be good, and a Pilot would be great for you. They are made specifically for light weight, beginning carvers, and, like dshack said, they are cheap ($375). For boots, Buying used would be the best choice, because you will probably grow out of them after a few seasons, so you don't need to spend that much on them. You need a soft-flexing hardboot because you are lightweight. If you get new boots, the Deeluxe 225 is the softest flexing boot that you can buy new. For bindings, just make sure they fit your boot size. With F2 and Catek bindings, there are a long and short plate sizes. Bomber bindings only come in one size. I would suggest demoing a hardboot setup before buying, if at all possible. In Colorado, you can demo boards from Bomber, in Silverthorne, and from All boards Sports in Boulder.

    iPod videos

In iTunes, Right click the video you want to change and click "convert to iPod/iPhone format". Handbrake is great, and for youtube videos, I like iSquint (its free, but it always asks you if you would like to upgrade to their other software that you have to pay for).
  18. She was just seeing what the competition was like... Maybe she was doing some R&D for the TD3...
  19. It would be even better if he was holding a sign that said "wanna ride like me? go to bomberonline.com to learn more." I happened to stumble on some "vintage" hardboot action in the sunday ads (I think you have to scroll to page 42-43 for the picture). Can anyone tell what board/boots they are riding? The kid's boots look like rear entry ski boots, but I am not a professional old-gear recognizer (oldsnowboards.com)...

    Good Puzzle

I tricked it a few times by using the same number twice in a row. Someone tell how this works, seems like it would be really complicated. Or PM me if you want it to stay a secret... Here's another fun game. Its not really a puzzle, but it is still fun.
  21. Apparently skwals are ok, unless this has changed. Tex, do you know if this has changed or anything?
  22. Hmm... How far is it from Red River? I will be coming up their for spring break, it would be nice to get rid of the crowds and try some new (to me) terrain. Ever been to Red River during peak times (spring break, Christmas)? I have probably seen it go twice this long (into the catwalk from the base/beginner area). It is probably about as long as lines in CO, but with no highspeed quads to speed up the wait. (hope these pictures show):
  23. LOL. I guess no one would steal a hitler board... This would be a cool nixon graphic.
