Done a transaction with Blue B, he's top notch! Also got one of the 4807s, in wrapper, sweet board. Thanks B
  2. Hey Tex, Business is good. Growing slowly but smoothly. I'm still looking for some stellar shops to carry Rad-Air, so if you know any in your area give me a shout. I'm the same way about the Bombers and Cateks. bombers = once and done, Cateks = constant fiddling. The weird thing is I'll finally get the Cateks set perfectly and the next time up they feel different. However I do find with the Bombers that I make a lot of adjustments in my riding to account for the not perfect body positioning. Ahhh the endless debate.....because both are awesome bindings! Thanks, PS what kind of trader.....commodities, stocks, pez dispensers?
  3. Thanks Pat, We've got a small warehouse that should work, I don't think my wife would like me to smell up the whole house, even if it is good. thanks,
  4. I know everyone and their grandma has an ipod, but I don't. I hooked up my cell phone to the audex wireless bluetooth speakers (comes with DJ headphones that are now my plane-travel choice) and it works grand. I tried to pair it with an O2 XDA Neo, and it didn't have the version of bluetooth needed to control/communicate with the wireless headset. But when I tried the newer phone it worked perfectly. phone: Cingular 8525 (aka HTC TyTN or imate jasjam) I just recently bought a 2Gb card for it and I can hold enough music for a day on the slopes.

    oooowwwwww

Just got our "rehab at home" running again after a season without.....definitely part of the 'getting old need all the help I can get routine.' Plus it's a great way to force us guys to communicate with the better half. Doesn't happen if I'm zonin' in front of the tube, or panel, or projector, or whatever.
  6. I agree, you can get serious speed out of some greens, but most won't allow you enough speed to get perpindicular with your board. When you are really rocking, the G's you can pull in turns are sweet candy. Nothing like the feeling of locked in rollercoaster riding to give you a case of perma-grin.

    Broken

Buell, I'm so sorry also. Take your time and heal well. Prayers comin' at ya.
  8. hey Jrobb, All it takes is some beer (real beer, not water) and these guys can tell stories that go on for days. The real leaders of the industry from back in the day talk very fondly of each other. One thing I found very interesting is that there are riders who never entered competitions that have spanked some of the worlds best in informal comps. Some of them could just care less about competing and just do it for the stoke of riding. I listened to some conversations from owners of snowboard companies both Euros and Americans about Reto Lamm that said he is simply unbelievable, a legend. You just gotta wonder how many others like him are out there.....
  9. Get over to alpinecarving.com and look at pics and vids of the riders that you want to emulate. As the saying goes...A picture is worth a thousand words. Moving pictures must be like a million then? I also wholeheartedly agree with Ray, the degree to which you improve over time is directly related to the skill of the boarders you ride with often.
  10. Plus when you see someone bleeding the mountain with their surgeon-like precision it is tooooooooo coooooooooooooooool! I aspire to this kind of riding regardless of conditions.
  11. It's interesting when you get around a bunch of these guys. Because no one believed they were doing anything that would result in what snowboarding has become, there wasn't really any documentation, just memories with some dates/events/marketing materials to back it up. Mike certainly has had his hand in a number of innovations, but there were a number of other innovators that were working on these things simultaneously around the world. It's just that since the internet was not publicly available they were only able to connect as they saw each other at shows and events. It would be mind-blowing to get all the big dogs from the beginning of the sport in a room together and get them to try to piece together a real history from a few different perspectives.
  12. Derf, I'm right there with you man. Steep and choppy is a real nut-minimizer, especially if you don't bring your A-game. I can tell you from experience that my success or failure is largely a result of my confidence/aggressiveness. It seems that when I'm nervous about the run and I don't psyche myself up I lose an edge or skid some turns. When I'm in animal mode and just want to attack the slope I find myself kickin' a$$ and takin' names. My resulting theory is that when I am nervous I tend to do a number of improper things: 1. tense up = not absorbing terrain 1._________= fighting my equipment. 2. go slow = going slow actually makes me go fast as I can't seem to bleed enough speed to enter the next turn in a good position. 2.________= there is something terrifying about starting your heel turn with your head further down the mountain than your board, still it is the only way whip around a turn fast enough to bleed speed and start the next turn. 3. think too much = decreasing the size of my nuts and making everything worse. I'm sure that there are technical ways to explain a lot of this, but for most of us (even the technical ones) we are not robots. We have to deal with the thinking side of us that is not a & b = c but if I do a & b then c is gonna hurt something fierce! If you have your technique pretty well dialed in then for them most part it just all has to come together quicker. So if you can take the same aggressiveness that you manifest on your favorite intermediate or intermediate/advanced slope, you can probably replicate it on the advanced run. good luck and remember to bring your A-game.
  13. If you do a search for Rad-Air Indi or Rad-Air Indy you should come up with something. That model has been discontinued.

    Tuning Brace

To spend that kind of money they better throw a table in with your vises. You can get them for $59 on the Bay. http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-SNOWBOARD-WAX-TUNING-VISE-VICE-VISES-VICES_W0QQitemZ8724285319QQihZ005QQcategoryZ62170QQrdZ1QQssPageNameZWD1VQQcmdZViewItem

    Rad-air Tanker

Just got more 192s in stock and aim to blow them out quickly at $399. Check with Dave at Hardbooter.com or myself at exoticboards.com for availability. RJ
  16. Pat, that's pretty phenomenal that you roast your own. Any tips?
  17. Bomber, Exoticboards, Rad-Air, Hayes Bros., and I'm sure more are going to be in Vegas for SIA this year. Anyone else? I'll be pimpin' next year's models of the Rad-Air lineup in a dark alleyway. Unfortunately we weren't able to get a booth in time, so we are just there "to look".....however, if anyone is around and wants to get a sneak peak, give me a call on my mobile 011-209-201-7926 and we'll set up a time to meet. I'm at the Luxor which is right across the street from the the Mandalay Bay convention center (and much nicer I'm told). Or we could just meet up for a drink and talk longboards/Carvin'
  18. Confusion? I like to concentrate on a general idea instead of trying to fix a number of things at the same time. It helps me on the mountain to enjoy while improving. Maybe it will work for you, maybe not. Therefore I will reiterate Kent's Number 3 - "but understand that a stiff set-up needs a more aggressive riding style." Your setup may not be too stiff, but you are allowing it to look that way because you aren't working it. Get aggressive! Remember you have hips, knees, ankles, feet, toes, etc plenty of axis for movement that all contribute to the turn. PS yes, toilet sitting, however I didn't think the vid was so bad for someone only out for a few seasons.
  19. Agreed. Although I believe it is an issue that is unique to each of us. If you don't like a very solid interface, the purples will work great at your specs. Glad to see you Tex. How is everything?
  20. To be honest, I think you might have found the ceiling of your board. Even if you're a lighter rider, if you are riding hard, a Sims 164 might not be able to track with you. The board is fine for freecarving at moderate speeds. It is just not able to handle the high speeds and irregularity of a race course because it will twist out from underneath you. It's also possible that the difference in toe side vs heal side is the amount of confidence and therefore flexibility that you allow yourself to give when the chatters begin. For most of us it is much easier to adapt and absorb the jarring on toe side. It is the side that allows us to see what is going on, feel more in control, and therefore be able to control the situation better. On heel side one tends to lock up and become static when nervous and therefore not absorb as well and perhaps ultimately lose the edge when the chatters begin. Still, on a different board that tracks better than a Sims, you might not have had any issues at all. Hope you heal up quick (but take your time :o )
  21. Looks like I'm going to have to bring some of the boys up for a D-day! What is the best place to get everyone together....oh heck I'll just put this up on the other forum.
  22. Sigi is a racer with a host of WC podiums under his belt. He is still racing but also taking a lot of time growing SG Snowboards. He is one of a host of builders that have evolved from their success in sport to their success in business.
  23. Jeff, if it will only be one of two boards I'd recommend getting more of an all-mountain/powder board than the fish. You are going to get a lot more enjoyment out of it on trips/home when there isn't a fresh dump. There are powder boards that will still let you lay over a solid carve when you're not in the deep stuff, you just have to look for them.
  24. LITTLE MORE WARNING NEXT TIME for the at work crew. I guess I should have picked up on the ass comments, but that pic took up my whole monitor!
  25. +1 for smartwool +1 for thinner sock It may be counterintuitive, but you gotta use what works.
