  1. Well, first off any comparisons between thirst, Coiler and Donek models is an oranges to apples discussion. I love my custom Coilers, I have four, my wife has one. I'm sure plenty of folks here will say the same about their Doneks. However thirst has taken its own path to its board performance, building boards since '79 there's a plethora of experience few share. Mark uses no Titanal, only woods, carbon fiber, other damping materials and the steel edge and ptex of course. Topsheets are all a clear textured, reverse printed nylon which is far a more durable material and creates a irredescent / 3-D effect. His dual core, twice pressed construction, and unique sidecut profiles results in a response, edge hold, and carve cleanliness like no other...skiers even notice that in the efficient pencil lines. They're happier ? Thirst's are also freaking fast, Jimmy John's fast! Gone is the need to shift weight, pedal the board, it carves a true arched line, meaning the board flex and sidecut work together, and may I say, eliminate the need for a plate ? Yes, just did. For us aging Carvers, this is well deserved. The WARP Waist Aborated, Radias Proportioned design, lets the heel side ingage quicker making transitions more efficient as well. Its asymmetry in a symmetric package. As far as a do it all board, I'd go with the 7 Warp Superconductor, or if you do find yourself riding switch at times, the BX.
  2. Yet another awesome build from the incredible mind and hands of Mark Miller. This 2018 8R W is a 185 WARP design, featuring a new nose and tail shape, an extra layer of carbon, and a gorgeous textured / back printed nylon topsheet. I've named her Sylvia Trench (aka. Dr. No Bond Girl). She'll get her first tracks in CO, later this week.
  3. Led....She says.....as in Stairway to Heaven
  4. Mark Miller has graciously lent me a thirst 7 WARP Superconductor for any of my Midwest peeps wanting to try one of these amazing boards. Being a WARP design, this one suits regular riders only. However, there is also a thirst XC for rent at Big Snow Outfitters in Bessemer, MI. That board can be ridden regular or goofy, soft set up or hard. Ben, a Tuner at BSO says "This thing turns on telepathy"
  5. Too bad no one likes this gorgeous creation, either no one reads this thread any longer, or no ones paying attention! Just to follow up, my Wife went from slaver to carver in one day. Ok, so your spouse isn't a viable carver candidate, but Mark now also builds a children's board, built for his daughter, and I know for sure many of you dads out there are hoping for the next best thing ....
  6. How about $550, with shipping included?
  7. Wasn't me....There's a bit of a jibber carving contingency developing here the last two years, a few are really getting after it!
  8. My Indianhead season pass has reciprocity there, as well as at Sunlight...one has snow and the other....well sunshine.
  9. The Legacy is a traditional build, single sidecut, designed with the help of local racers. I would say it targets those looking to move up from their 90's series alpine boards. This was a standard build at 165 cm and will suit 120-190 lb riders.
  10. They finally had a chance to address some thin spots that rookie groomers left prior to the holidays....no worries.
  11. I concur with everything Keenan said! Even though our Midwest hills are small, steep is readily available, deep, a few times a year, all have been very comfortable, better edge hold than my metals.
  12. Heading out for a week next week, and with the cancellation of the Bromada Session at Buttermilk, looks like Leadville for the duration. Comments? Suggestions? Al
  13. Price Drop....please remember this board is $1100 new, half price!
  14. Exactly! My Coda does a good job with crud and pushpiles so it comes out later in the day. It definitely makes our 800 ft hill more interesting! It also has more of a skiers cadence, better when the hill is busy, or while hanging out with skiers.
  15. I had a break thru day that day, was momentarily channeling Rick Nielsen (Cheap Trick). In Summer I ride a Goode slalom ski with canted hardboots as well ?. If Alpine Snowboarding has a Surf inspiration, Skwalling definitely has a waterskiing connection! Just without the boat, gas, rope and friends, lol
  16. Hi Dave, next weekend should be good, weekend after I'm at Cooper. Have guests both the last weekend of Feb, and the first weekend of March, fyi.
  17. I would say from a balance, and flexor development stand point it certainly does. It definitely makes one more comfortable with steeper binding angles.
  18. .We've had 12" since Wednesday, making for an epic, but a tad cold (0°-5°) weekend. Over 14 feet of snowfall so far this season, today was day 37 for me, big improvement over last year!
  19. If the Wife doesn't have a problem, then I sure don't ?
  20. My Wife's new thirst SF 162 WARP.....this gorgeous board speaks for itself! Mark Miller's work is simply amazing !
  21. "Creme Brulet", Ordered in 2017, 9.5/10 top sheet (boot scuffs only, no dings) base 10/10, board has 5 - 350 foot days on it. $550 plus shipping.
