I definitely have my eye on the Intuition liners. Thanks, great color too! 3 hours ago, barryj said: Hey Shredsurf.......... when ya get it setup what Mtn. you gonna pimp your new ride?? daveo
If you hadn't yet noticed, those Intuition liners are gold. Seems like a no brainer with those gold buckles. No such thing as too matchy matchy. Edited December 24, 2018 by daveo
SHREDSURF
Kneel, are they the low, medium or high volume? Did you go with the toe kit too?

Toe kit is just for molding them, any bootfitter has this stuff. Once you get your boots, your foot size in relation to the boot shell will determine the volume. I reckon a trip to a boot fitter, getting your liners selected and molded, any punching done to the shell and getting some custom footbeds made is going to be the best purchase you make! Just my opinion, probably completely wrong, though.
Kmf
Hi Shred, The yellow/gold intuitions are the high volume series. Before you go buying stuff you might not need, check if these come with thermoflex (Palau) liners already in them. I beleive the 700 comes in 2 variations. Track 700: HB liner (not thermo) Track 700T:Thermoflex liner (fully moldable) I considered buying these, but went with UPZ in the end. You can check out carversparadise for more info on both models, that’s where I bought my UPZ’s and F2 bindings (great prices + 4 day free shipping to Brooklyn) Edited December 26, 2018 by Kmf

SHREDSURF
KMF, Thanks for the heads up on the Carversparadise.com site, seems like very, very competitive pricing. My purchases have been on hold due to the holiday's, so its given me some time to research pricing. The deal I am getting from Donek takes $250 off the package if you combine the board & boots. Board comes to $855, boots are $599. Taking the $250 off for bundling, the board & boots come to $1,244.00 + $40 shipping - $1,288.00. It looks like carvers paradise is the place to go for the bindings & boots. Boots, bindings and accessories come to around $705.00 usd. The only question is shipping costs through carvers paradise? It looks like there aren't any to Dirty Jersey (NJ), is that possible?
jburk
My 2 cents’ worth: if you’re in the CONUS and you can get everything you need from one vendor in the US, why not buy local, avoid having to have your items pass through US Customs, and be guaranteed a decent experience if you have to resolve a warrantee or shipping issue? Donek’s customer service is top-notch, and if I’m not mistaken (haven’t read every post in this thread) they have everything you need in stock. You might save $75, $100 or so by buying from EU, but that doesn’t seem like enough to offset the potential hassle. Edit: thought I saw that you’re looking at UPZ boots, The North American rep ships US orders from a US warehouse, so no border or customs hassles. Kmf
Carversparadise is just a good alternative for finding carving equipment, that’s all they do. I’ve never heard anything about customs. They ship UPS and I track it just like an amazon prime order, from Germany to Kentucky, Jersey city and finally to NYC. I’m sure they’ll they will ship to dirty Jersey. Pokkis is correct, 3rd box from bottom, “US” between SY and AE, from 41€ depending on shipment. Total prices show up for me when I put my address in, but before purchase. Boots ship free to the US, not sure about the bindings and other stuff, maybe $45?? You can also email them. ? Intec grande in stock, maybe one pair left? Edited December 26, 2018 by Kmf
SHREDSURF
If they used our illustrious USPS, it would be a deal breaker. The fact that they use UPS, gives me piece of mind. I now see the US wedged in between the SY & AE...thanks!

There is really no sense in 'supporting' local manufacturers when we have our own lives and families to support. The best deal always gets my $, regardless of geographical position. I waited for over a year to get a 65% off deal on my current pair of Arc-teryx Alpha SV bibs in size Medium Tall that I wear for carving.

Kmf
Hey Shred, It’s about getting the right equipment, not just a great deal. I believe in supporting local shops, and donek was great when I bought a board. Carversparadise is just another option. The owner Sebastian, is also a instructor for Joerg’s Pure Boarding team ( pureboarding . com). You can see him on the website, he knows his stuff. If you don’t know of Joerg, he has an excellent reputation, ask anyone here. Like you, I transitioned from soft boot carving to hardboots. It took me two boards to get the whole setup right for my needs, including boots and bindings. For me, I needed an all mountain board that would work in all conditions, like my soft boot board did. Most of my riding consists of day trips to the Catskills or overnighters in southern Vermont. I don’t have the luxury of riding long, groomed trails in aspen or the alps every week and I’m not buying two boards and switching midday. I wound up getting an all mountain board with a wider waist that works very well on ice, powder, groom and can be used from Mountain creek to Stowe during the season. I found for me...that my needs for a hard boot setup are much different than many others on here. Do your research before buying, you don’t want to be buying another setup at season end like I did ( or maybe you do?..who knows). good luck Edited December 27, 2018 by Kmf
SHREDSURF
KMF, I believe the advice I've received and the research I've done has me right where I need to be for getting back into alpine riding. I'm set on the boots and bindings from Carvers Paradise...especially after emailing Sebastian who told me the shipping is FREE! (see screenshot) The board is where I am still kinda stuck on. After the holidays I'm going to make a call to Sean at Donek to discuss what you mentioned, a slightly wider waist for the type riding and conditions we have here in the NE. Thanks for the input and insight, maybe we can catch up this season somewhere in NJ or NY for a day trip.
daveo
You'll outgrow that board quickly... Just like the bindings you initially had selected. Whoever recommended those likely was expecting you to outgrow them and purchase something else the following year. If you're just getting one board and want that to be your only board, that one probably isn't it.

It really is a versatile board, especially for the robust conditions we have in the northeast. I have a few built with 22cm waists for us bigger guys that I ride with hardboots. I'd be happy to meet up at Mountain Creek if you'd like to try them out. Shred, This sounds like a great opportunity to try a Donek and get a feel how the new carving boards differ from what you remember. I would take kneel up on his offer, before I bought any new board. Many people here demo boards before buying them, why not you? If you don’t like the Flux, move onto the next. I’ve had the experience of buying the new “perfect board for me” only to sell it at seasons end, took a hit on the dollar loss too. Jack was right, the boots and bindings will stay with you a long time (like family), boards will come and go (like girlfriends). Personally, I would get the boots, find a decent board for this year (used, for price reasons), and decide what Exactly I wanted, then spend the $800 or so on my dream board. You’ll have your boots/bindings dialed in, carving perfected, and won’t tear up your new dream board . I’d offer you to try my board, but I think it would be too small for you. I would definitely meet up with you to ride. Who carries intuition in the area?

I never thought demo'ing anything from the hard boot alpine world was possible here in the Northeast ...if I've seen 5 hard boot riders in the last 3 years at any mountain I've been to, it would be alot. High Country Sports in Livingston, NJ carrie's and fits Intuition liners and Pro Ski And Ride is a specialty ski shop in Hunter, NY that also handles Intuition.
