Ray
Lukas Gruener (Virus) wins first World Cup BX race in Chile… good to see a hardbooter win <img src="http://tinypic.com/eb1lhs.jpg" alt="Image hosted by TinyPic.com"> Congrats!!! I am not really up to date here, but didn’t most of the riders switch over to a soft set-up? Ray

astrokel
Anyone know if that's a custom or a "production" BX board? Interesting shape... wasn't there something about square-end boards in BX races or is the board end rounded enough to fit within the rules guidelines? ncermak
easily rounded enough. the square tail rule is prevent injury...a safety precaution
Ray
astrokel, it’s a custom built board for Lukas… basically a prototype… He received the board I think just a couple of days before the race… seems like time enough for him…
astrokel
Thanks Ray, I was looking at the Virus site and the descriptions don't include sidecut info, you know anywhere that they list that kind of info?
GeoffV
Virus does not disclose sidecut info.
astrokel
Anywhere ?!? Wow, need a security clearance from Frank in order to obtain that info eh? :)

FIS allows you to run a square tail where as USASA will not....
Dan
ha ha, that's Virus' idea of a wide board, huh. Love their commitment to Kate-Moss-style waists on their decks.
Ray
ha ha, that's Virus' idea of a wide board, huh. Love their commitment to Kate-Moss-style waists on their decks. “Commitment” is what you certainly get… so the question remains, is wider really better? Speaking of width , I am expecting a new toy… trying out that 15cm waist now… :D but NOT for BX
Bordy
Ray just buy a Sqwal and call it good (if only they made anything good). We played around with 15cm boards a bunch they where fun big radius on narrow boards. A o-kay ride on the bullet broof hard stuff! The board that broke during the hardbooter video was our last 16cm waist I only have 17s left now.... I guess I will have to wait to see you to get my narrow board runs in. Are you running Intecs so I can just clip in? I hope your 15 is big and stable!!!
Ray
Bordy! A Sqwal, NO WAY! What did you guys played around with? Any 15cm Virus as well (I hope not)? First I thought I get the 14cm (175cm), but the 14cm really scared me a bit to much. So this is a 173cm, lot’s of Carbon fiber and other experimental stuff :p No Intecs… all my bindings are regular bails… sorry!
Bordy
15cm were a few custom one ofs from the secret team camp. I know Joker still has 2 195 16cm SG secret team boards in his garage...I ask him if I could please have them every time I see him!!! But no Virus product(other then the demo fleet last year). Good stuff very well made! All the secret team stuff was loaded with the carbon also mmmmm good stuff! :D
Ray
Bordy, Hope you come to the SES again!? Was really fun with you guys last time... and the Virus fleet will be MUCH larger as well...
Bordy
Unless there is a race date change, I and the hardbooter crew will be there! I am not sure if we are going to lug the 35 demo boards we did last year(we broke Daves rack on the way home) but we will have a Fleet of toys as well... fin
Actually, we just got off the phone with our insurance guy and they are being very strict about what boards we can demo this year. So I am afraid to say the entire demo fleet will be Kemper "Bullet" models with Lofo Bindings and all boards will have a 10 degree base bevel and 0 degree side with nordic wax only to be used. Not sure why they can only authorize this board but it is the best we can do. I hope you like boards with 28meter side cut...:D
Bordy
Fin, You know I love the big radius....We can bring the aggressor fleet! You know they are made with kevlar? Say so right under the Kemper logo on Mine Whats Your Bullet Say? We can bring the Fleet of Checker Pigs again... you know its made with that titanal stuff every ones talking about! tex1230
that's funny - I didn't know the bullet had a sidecut! 1991 - 73mph through the speed trap on a bullet @ squaw...turning is highly overrated!
