Guest Randy S.
I'm working on a report about online communities and MySpace in particular. I'm kind of out of the demographic for its appeal. Anyone here using myspace in any notable way? Can you either post or email me to share your experiences. At first blush it looks like a place for sex and drugs. I have nothing against sex and drugs, but is there more appeal than that?
NMU Alpine Boarder
Basically, everyone I know between the ages of 16 and 22 has one, so I made one... I really don't use it that often though... I am more of a FACEBOOK person...
Guest Randy S.
That seems to be the prevailing thinking. So why are they so damned successful? Aisling? I figured you'd have an account there.

Aisling
yes i have one and no you can't see it. hahaha i made one cause my friend tom was on my back about me getting on myspace cause livejournal was so lame last year. its the hip thing to do for 20s and a lot of teens. my god... i get contacted by about 900 16 yr olds a day :-p
Jon Dahl
I had one here at home on it, and had to ban it. 14y.o. posing as a 17 y.o. and les. to boot. Kids look for a way to one-up each other and it seems like the perfect place for it. BTW, do not become a parent if you don't have the cajones for it, you will need them. FTA2R
so nice to see another youngin' into the classic stuff (vs. the 80% of the crap produced today referred to as "music") ELP and Weather Report, nice. Playing an instrument can have that "broadening" effect on one. Guess the WR is a given, you're a bassist?

I figured you'd have an account there. I really don't understand the success either... I have some friends here at school that post everyday in the Blogs, and read other people's blogs religiously.... It's amazing at how much S*** that can stir up in the Drama department. Personally, I don't see what the appeal of telling the world what you did at a party last night is.... And for anyone interested, here's mine: Welcome to D-Rock's world... NateW
I don't care for it. Pages load slowly if they load at all, and are packed with annoying advertisements, and I was not impressed with intellect of most of the people I encountered in the forums (probably because they're mostly half my age). http://www.myspace.com/natescape
NMU Alpine Boarder
So I got bored waiting for my buddies to figure out what they wanted to do tonight, so I made a myspace group some people here might be interested in.... skategoat
Lord knows why anyone would want to publish the intimate details of their life - unless People magazine is paying for it. Even then, it would have to be a hell of a lot of money.

gdboytyler
Aisling, since it was there, I had to check out your MySpace pics. Dan
I'm working on a report about online communities and MySpace in particular. Can you find a way to fit in a section on BOL? :-) This is the only worthwhile online community I've ever been involved in.
