  1. Heh, figures that just when I leave on a road trip to visit a buddy in CO, Hood gets dumped with the dry deep stuff :P Might make it out tomorrow. Depends on plans with the GF.
  2. Put it on the calendar. I'll come by for at least a couple days. Mike T: would be sweet to catch up.
  3. Uhg. Finally a good storm and life keeps me away from it. Ahh well. Heading up in the morning to see what's left.
  4. Been real busy with other stuff, but I need to get some time on the hill. Besides, the new car is just begging to be driven up the mountain. Considering the weather I think I'll break out the HB and the Coiler AM for the first time in like 4 years. So I'll be newbin it up on the cord somewhere, blue helmet, red jacket, olive pants.
  5. Kill me now. I'll be braving the conditions at least once this week. Starting to think I should just take up the rock board. In Feb. Weak.
  6. Great day. Great snow. A touch crowded for midweek though. I saw a hardbooter in a bright green jacket with a red and white triangle on the back. He was lapping SS when they opened heather though, so I didn't chase em down to say hi. Didn't see you though Bryan.
  7. I couldn't find any of my old FRS radios, so I'll just keep an eye out for you Bryan. What time do you usually line up? HRM or Express?
  8. Sup gents? I'm going riding Wednesday. Hopefully will get a proper start this time and be on one of the first chairs up HRM. If there's enough fresh I'll be on the OSin again, otherwise a natural wood donek (softboots either way).
  9. I got a late start but was there. Deep powder basically everywhere, but it tracked out fast. Did some laps on heather then went down to hunt out fresh stuff on HRM and called it a day around 1:30. Uhg, this relearning thing is rough. Still pretty awkward up there, not really getting into a solid rhythm. Don't think it'll take too many more days to get fully back though. Was keeping an eye out but didn't see anyone I recognized. Oh well, next time. You use a FRS radio? What channel? I'll probably skip the weekend due to crowds, but will be looking to go up early next week if conditions are good.
  10. I'm heading up tomorrow for the morning at least, perhaps longer if conditions and legs hold out. Hit me up if you're going, would be nice to see some old faces. I'll be on softboots and a 4807 swallow tail.
  11. It's gotta be 5+ years since I saw any of you guys. Last time I snowboarded was 3 years ago up in Whistler. Hope it doesn't take too long for the ole brainstem to remember how things work.
  12. Just a heads up that folks like Jakob aren't likely to respond to any sort of criticism or requests for improvement. Also, the nonsense style of writing is specifically designed to perform well in google. The best way to counter SEO squatting crap like that is to write good content and link to it from as many sites as possible.
  13. Hey guys. Been ages but I'm getting back on the wagon this winter. Hoping the snow is as epic as everyone is predicting. I'll be riding mostly midweek. Hit me up for ride shares and the like.
  14. Ah, my apologies, it's been a while since I was here, didn't notice there was a new videos forum or that someone else had upped it to google.

  17. nice choice in music :) nice creative editing
  18. Interesting. I didn't know Danley's patent from the Vortex driver expired. Not much fun for more than a gimic when it rolls off at 40hz tho.Anyhow, you might have more fun with the LABsub. 130dB from 30hz and up at 1 watt 1 meter. Over 140dB at 30hz and up with less than 1% THD. Flat group delay from 30hz on up. Tops out at 150hz or so giving a lot of crossover options. Stupidly loud low distortion bass that can keep up with transients.
  19. Meh. Not much on my toy list. If the job changes I'm hoping for come through, a powerbook so I can work on the go. A reference set of headphones (Senn 650's + amp most likely). A mp3 player, maybe ipod nano, maybe that keen looking iriver u10. Maybe borrow an xbox 360 to play my buddy's latest game. A 30mm 1.4 lense for the dslr. They're all pretty low priority though. I'm glad I got the gadget urge out of my system a couple years ago... it just ends up being a time and dollar suck. I've been cleaning lately and am finding piles of past gadgets and projects. Palm pilots, etc. Stuff I coveted at the time but used all of a week. I'm now proud of the fact that my cell phone is an old tank of a flip phone that doesn't even have a color screen let alone pictures and video. Good riddance. in that order? :P
  20. sounds good also leaves late april or early may for a 'left coast last chance' meet up.
  21. Those look... well... bomber :) Awsome stuff. I've thought about putting the RAB on my boots. With them locked it feels like I'm fighting the boot to angulate, with them unlocked I don't feel stable. I probibly just need to ride more unlocked and build some muscle strength. Hope you guys find a business solution. Seems like a lot of customers are lined up.
  22. Randy: if you're doing a report on online communities, be sure to check out okcupid as well.
  23. Not that I'm going to pretend to know much about it... ...but I do recall reading a while back that stephen koch uses a fairly short twin tip (a rome 151 if memory serves). So I don't think sidecut depth is everything to edge hold... I'm betting that the way the board flexes, particularly torsional, has a pretty big impact as well. And a tight sidecut could be a lot of help when you need to make quick, slow speed turns in a steep chute or what have you. Talk to prior, donek, coiler (when he's building again) about what you specific terrain and I bet you'll get something that blows your mind.
  24. Unless you need the longer cargo area, it's pretty hard to beat the value of the saab stickered WRX at the moment. While the non-turbo auto's arn't exactly a spirited drive, they're quite capable on the snow and such. Back when I hung around the rally folks in 99 and 00, a couple people rallycrossed in their auto legacies. They got the job done as far as low traction surfaces go. I dunno the details on your durango, but suspect it's a locked differencial when in 4wd. I think you'll find the awd feels a bit more predictable on a slick road when you get on the throttle.
  25. I like Mt. Hood, but I really wouldn't sell it as a destination resort durring the winter. But anyhow, Mt Hood Meadows has the most terrain available. Timberline is nice, particularly so if all you want is mellow blue runs to carve up. Also, if conditions are warm and the snow coverage marginal, Timberline will likely be better. Otherwise, in season and with plenty of snow, meadows has a lot more terrain available. Timberline is lacking when it comes to steeps. I own some older SPX6 bindings, like them quite a bit. Comfy, hold very well, the ratchets don't freeze (unlike the burton model a couple buddies have... missions I think?), very quick to strap in and out of thanks to the clever toe strap that doesn't fully seperate. Haven't used the newer models that have come out in the last 2 years. No clue on salomon boards. I rode an FRS MikeT loaned me a while back, but I imagine that's a bit different than the rest of their line. Have a donek wide. I'm not a park person, so no real experienced comments there. The wide has a lot of edge hold, which is great, but you might have to put a bit of effort into it if you want to be able to swish it around at slow speed for rails or whatever, compared to something softer. I love the board for everything else... I haven't ridden any other softboot boards I'd pick over the donek. Stiff vs Soft boots seems to be an issue of taste and rider style in the park. I think boot fit to your individual foot is the most important. Go try on *lots* of boots, and find the one that fits best. Unless it's stiffness is *way* different than what you want, it'll probibly work better than a boot with perfect stiffness that doesn't hold your foot as well. I'm about your weight and like my old malamutes... but I like the hardboots better these days :D
