Deuxdiesel
Other than maybe using this at Deer Valley or Alta to sneak in, I don't really see this performing any better than an alpine board and even many of the soft boot carving boards. The videos that I have watched just aren't that impressive. It is a cool idea and I love that Kildy is still tinkering with gear though.
softbootsurfer
I rode one of these, pre 90 at Milkland, a gentleman from Switzerland I think? the platform was a couple inches higher, the skis shorter and it turned on a dime...after two runs and a serious high side I returned it...this looks way more advanced and a great Video shows what is happening....Really Cool to see the progression of this Idea
SunSurfer
Mike's design places the riders mass in the appropriate position for the Stockli carving skis underneath. Specs and images from his website https://www.oneski.com/ describe his plate as 80 cm long and 20cm wide. The distance between the axles is visually clearly less than half the length of the plate, so <40cm, in the same kind of range as a ski boot + binding attachment points. So the question becomes, in comparison with a) a modern freecarve board without a plate and a rider stance of between 50-56cm OR b) a modern racing snowboard with an AllFlex plate with rider mass distributed over 70+cm and enhanced torsion control over that same edge length Which is going to give better carving performance in those 2 comparisons? For me, it's almost a rhetorical question.
GeoffV
Very interested in trying it next season. Curious what I will think of it. It is a very expensive entry into a new setup.
