fin
Bobby, thanks for the heads-up. Yea, we are hearing it is BIG change in how it all works. However, when you upgraded from 4.X to 5 did most of your settings, templates, etc. come through fine? Or did you have go back in and "fix" a bunch of stuff? The issue we have is we like 4.x just fine. However, word is it has major security holes and can be hacked. And we have, twice now. So 5 takes care of the security issue. FloBoot, yea, that page is now fixed. Should be good to go. Fin
www.oldsnowboards.com
Would this be a good time to shop for an alternative software provider that also has migration software built in? Seems severe but there are other providers. Perhaps there is a rating service or recommendations from users of other forums? Just a thought. Bobby Buggs
Fin, my Jetboat fans site was started with 5.xx and Im reverting back to 4.xx cause 5 sucks, bad part is its not backward compatible. I believe its forward compatible from 4 to 5 but not sure. I believe there are security patches for v4
Tugboater
My favorite paintball site is running 3.8.6 with no issues is there an exploit in 4?
Dan
My favorite paintball site is running 3.8.6 with no issues is there an exploit in 4? Slashdot just ran a post on this: http://it.slashdot.org/story/13/10/09/1253209/dangerous-vbulletin-exploit-in-the-wild. It sounds like the issues are with 4.1 and 5+. Here's some info from the Vbulletin staff, and some more information from a security company on identifying attacks and correcting the vulnerability.
loopback
My understanding is that the vulnerability only exists if you fail to delete the /install folder after an upgrade or installation. This is problematic because prior to this exploit the instructions stated to delete the install.php file, located in the /install folder not the whole folder itself. This has caused some confusion (anger), even among seasoned admins. //Paul

loopback
Not sure if this is related, but I've been trying to access threads in the Bomber BX For Sale forum for a few weeks and the pages just say "I LOVE YOU" It's related. That forum has been hacked as well. The "I love you" is a known symptom. The member list has 2 admin accounts that have been added recently and have never posted: I would almost guarantee they are not legit accounts.
