what else is a good song; but i find that the squeeling voice distracts me on the slopes :(

(do you mean "what else is there?" or is it a different song?)

Same song. I think the squealing voice is great.

Which is odd, because I...HATE BRIAN JOHNSON.

Edit- I know why I like it. It drags on, is anti-climatic, and is symbolic up to its receding hairline. Just like King Crimson.

Cool band, this song is similar to Tool. In fact, Tool covered it with their bassist.

Vocalist, is Tool sounding. Riffs, Tool. Drums, Tool.

The video, while showing the members a lot, which is very not Tool (save for the "Hush" video) is still similar to Tool.

Guitarist is kinda Morello-sounding, but he's got a unique style that clearly isn't Morello.

So still working my way through the lists. Thx again those who contributed.

Any new tunes over the summer that stand out? I havn't gone exploring too much except for the unfamiliar entries off this thread. A lot of which is money btw.

So what are your latest downloads.

as a real REM fan but their latest is really really good. Some high energy rockin stuff as well as some more typically accoustic.Wolfmother's Joker and the Thief is a kickass hard tune that I've really dug lately(think Uriah Heap if you're old enough).A bit mellower tune I've been listening to again is Secret Machines' Faded Lines(good sunny afternoon carving tune)Tons more but I'm mentally used up today, so I'll add some more soon.

Accelerate I think it is. I got that one too and it has been in heavy rotation.

Too early to talk car pool to SES but I saw that and am interested.

Big Mario - for some reason the emails about the boots are gone.

Can you send me an email I am ready to list them here or ebay and see if it works better this time.

Snow in the Idaho high country but nothing much yet. I still have to get some wood in, so ok for now.

Well, I am sorta out of PORTABLE tunes, right now. I HAD a Sony Discman, but it rusted from sailing....then got one of those Zen mp3 things...put a bunch of music on that, but IT disappeared on a glacier never to be seen again. Gotta another Zen, 8gb this time, but IT got smashed against a rock chimney while rock climbing last summer....sheeessshh, I guess I am HARD on my equipment. :(

But as far as tunes go....I guess I have pretty eclectic tastes:

ANY Mozart or Bach pieces; Presidents of the USA: Miles Davis; Smashmouth; John Lee Hooker; Offspring; Roberta Flack; Jane's Addiction; Robert Johnson; Sublime; Debussy's "Jardins sous de plouie" (Gardens in the rain) for piano solo; Smashing Pumpkins; Enya; Bush; Deep Forest; Garbage; Pink Floyd; Nirvana; Edith Piaf; The Killers; Depeche Mode; Nine inch nails; Schumann; The Ramones; Otavalomanta; Counting Crows; Aine Minogue; Spencer Day; Jason Mraz; Jack Johnson; Willy Nelson; Johnny Cash; Astrud Gilberto....and on....and on.....and on...........

Music is dreams put to sound.

i have a 160 gb ipod classic which has about 500 albums on it. mostly classic rock, some punk, some alt, some classical and i put it through some skullcandy headphones that are in a helmet speaker kit. don't listen too loud on the groomers but in the trees its a bit louder. i'm still able to hear and talk to people without straining. i listen to albums as playlists take too much effort.

anything by rob zombie or judas priest when i want to push it.

my newest fave has to be Hollywood Undead.

ak rover. Looking for songs not just artists.

So how about ten of your faves. Thx

Okay..I don't know if will add up to ten, since I am lousy at remembering song titles, but here goes:

Presidents of the USA: "Peaches"

Smashing Pumpkins: "Disarm"...sorta mellow.

Smashmouth: "Hey now, you're an all-star"

Sublime: "Santeria"...of course!..what else?

Jane's Adiction: "Been caught stealing"

Killers: "Mr. Brightside"

Offspring: "Pretty Fly....for a white guy"

Nirvana: "Smells like teen spirit"

The Verve: "Bittersweet symphony"

Blur: "Song 2" Probably my all-time favorite song....and a GREAT back-country freeriding song!!!

I think that's ten.

Keep in mind, that many of these song choices are based upon a freestyle/freeride background....but I think they will equally call up the mojo for carving.

Gravity IS Life.

OK we are starting to get on track here with some songs.

I guess more than anything I am looking for set lists as if you were a DJ.

Like I have a pow day mix that has more Widespread (Rock and Diner), Jimi ( ARe you experienced), Bob Marley - Is this love, Soundings in Film - Paul Kelly, Not Fade Away - Grateful Dead, The Man Who can't be moved - The Script, Wicked Twisted Road - Reckless Kelly, Burning Up - Hed Kandi,

For my carving set I have: Lenny Kravitz - Fly Away, U2 - Beautiful Day, Primal Scream - Riot Girl, I just Wanna Live - Good Charlotte, Landing - Moby,

Bouncing Around the Room - Phish, Writers Block - the Chills, I won't back Down - Tom Petty, Jerusalem - Mattis Yahu, 8 Mile - Eminem, Monkey Gone to Heaven - Pixies, Old War Chant - Damian Marley, Life During Wartime - Talking Heads, Supernatural Superserious - REM,

So anyway that is some more of mine. [/End of blog about music sets]
