  1. yeah that sounds familiar now. Thanks man! i actually just updated my gear. the td1s are gone, and i was planning on going with a new softer binding on the head fusion, like an ibex. well cool, i'm excited. i just moved out to Montana and it has become clear that i need to take a different approach to riding out here.
  2. So let me start off by mentioning that i tried the search function, but must not be able to get the right word combo If i put plate bindings on my old freeride/all mountain boards, and ride them just as hard as i ride my alpine board, am i going to have any issues? My concern is that i will pull the inserts out of the board Sorry to post such a trivial question, when i was on the forums i saw this asked all the time. i just can't find it in search for some reason.
  3. planning on going to tomorrow... doesn't look like the snow will be great, but you never know.
  4. Hey is Alpine making a decline at afton? i noticed that there isn't a log thread...
  5. I had a nice day today. Got out there around 11, and after about a half hour or so of figuring out how this all worked again i was rocking it! It was hero snow again today. you could tell because i received several compliments on my riding (i'm certainly not that good). i spent most of the day on chair 2, i kept jumping a berm in the groom toe side, and landing heel side high on edge. It's really neat feeling you hand touch the ground before your board! i think the temps stayed in the low to mid teens today, with a very gusty wind; i would be hallin' a$$ until i turned into it and i would just stop some times.. really threw me off my game when it happened. btw, the groom on the nastar side of 2 was in fact terible, as i've learned to expect from Afton Alps. I finally wrapped it up at 4:30. Very satisfied. it was a good outing. For how little time i've had on a board the last couple of years i felt like i was able to work less to get the board to do more... i might have to put some serious thought into upgrading my board next year, if this becomes a habit again. recommedations?
  6. when i was hit by a guy on telemarks, i had just finished looking up the hill, and saw nothing. right as i started rolling to my heal i was plowed by the "tele-duche" who had a tendency to simply bomb hills and not do much turning. I think it's sad but simiple; If they're not paying attention, they're going to hit you. It's like motorcycles. you can ride a bright colored bike and put the "watch for motorcyclist" sticks all over the place, but if people are stupid, they're stupid... and you can't fix that. Do your best to avoid the idiots and live in fear of the stupidity.
  7. i'm heading out to afton tomorrow... i'll probably be there around 10-when ever. knowing my super exciting riding style  i'll probably gravitate to chairs 2 or 6, if any one wants to meet up.
  8. Is afton worth going any more or is the snow crap? Just got back from bridger bowl montana and deffinitely miss this sport, and would like to rail a few more turns before summer.
  9. bonzo, do you still have the jeep snowboard rack?
  10. so is the general consensus, this year, that the snow just kinda... sucks? suddenly i dont' feel so bad if i skip out on this season. any mes this year? lol
  11. facebook says it's chairs 2 and 4 have no idea what conditions will be like. haven't ridden in a month, or so. Aaron is probably just as clueless, as he just left for CO
  12. Lame ass. :p I thought the snow rocked today! Some spots were a little iffy, but it was more the flat light that made things so challenging. But 7 was nice, along with 12, and steep 17. i never made it to 2. btw. i was also out last thursday. the snow was very soft, but ride able.
  13. any one plan on going out today?
  14. i supposed to be colder tomorrow. i have a feeling the snow is going to set up like sand after ther groom it, except 1 2 and 3 cause they insist on grooming that in the morning, when it's warmer. tomorrow could have some potential. only down side is it's a friday.
  15. if your the kid i met the other day (alex?) i heard from the grape vine you fell and lost your glasses. lol Any way, i think i might be out friday night. for the first time since MES, pretty much. say hi if your out!
  16. i saw a lot of alpine trenches out there, but the only people i saw were you, and some mystery guy wearing all black.... Never saw trent, or greg. I though the the snow was good, but was struggling with it for some reason... every thing was kinda rutted up, i guess.
  17. i think Nick Terry, the ski school manager, taught/teaches alpine... it can't hurt to ask him.. he might know somebody. workin tomorrow night... too sick to want to snowboard any way :(
  18. i got out around 4. for about 2 hours as well... easy 2 was a **** hole, by that time. harder 2 was ok, though. 7 was kinda nasty as well... I did okay; in my opinion a lesser rider would've struggled, while a greater rider, than myself, would've persevered... at least that what i thought, until i read scotts post, who's clearly a better rider... idk, i felt i could get my edge in if my technique was just dead on the nuts... i do feel like my skill sets are growing though, these kind of conditions would've punished me pretty bad, this time last year, and i can feel myself developing a rather distinct style... wish i had a video to see how i look. I wont be able to make it to gates, tomorrow.
  19. they will be for the rest of the month, mon-thursday I'll be out saturday night to hit gates. might bring a friend.
  20. Money just isn't there for me. snowboarding is an A sport, to me, but i'm a guy of many hobbies, between the race car, the longboard, guitar/music, and women (the most expensive), i just dont' have the cash to invest. Although i would like to buy a metal board with a traditional shape in the near future.
  21. apparently trent can carve it... but right side twelve actually sounds like it might be a fun place to set up gates.
  22. got out at about 11a. started on 7.... it was ok, but it felt really funny... i was defiantly struggling with something. Maybe it was the flat light... Any way, i moved around to try finding simpler hill, to maybe warm up on... wasn't happening for me, at all. it was all so soft, from all of the snow being made. I really started getting frustrated, and started just making coleman slides, like was longboarding... So finally i headed over to 2, which has never been one of my better hill unfortunately, but is was worth a try. As i got there, the sun came out... the sun came out. holly ****! my day turned around completely! i was making legit hard, fast turns all the way down 2, in between lift poles (the plain that best my ability atm), also unlike all the other hills, they only had one snow gun at the very top. for that hour that the sun was out, i was on my A game. best runs of the season thus far. i got to the bottom, and actually had to catch my breath briefly. I was making turns, where afterwords i thought to my self, "holly ****, i cant believe i actually was able to pull that off" then the sun went away. i road okay, afterwards, but i really need the sun.. I left at 3. i would imagine that, had a wait and hour and a half longer, for them to turn the lights on, i couldn't got another hour of good riding in on 2 before the ski teams got out... As far as my leg, goes, i can't really feel it when i got down the hill, only when i walk... i guess my boots are tight enough... edit: Any body interested in trading your shorter slalomy carving board for my 186 f2 w/td1?
  23. 12 doesn't sound dangerous to you, at all?
