I am thinking of taking my son to Silverton as a grad present. He has a pass to Copper and loves the bowls, unfortunately he is a skier but likes to be seen holding my boards Now , I always ride hardboots and have had awesome days riding big powder in Tahoe on my all mountain. Has anyone ridden Silverton in hardboots and if so, was it worth it? I am not buying a softie set-up or skis.

I ride at Killington were all the water-cooler heroes from NYC are displaying their skills after their 9AM pops at the bar. Fortunately there is usually a space if you wait to drop in. If I am on a good run and pass a group of boarders on their asses I will have to stop after 4-5 more turns. They all get up at once to straight-line down to show how they are faster than a "race board".

Good suggestions on the changing of riding style and a good trainer. I should attempt to change to a more flowing, constant movement style as opposed to the jam a turn bang another. Probably will have to avoid the bumps too. Right now there is no stabbing pain as there is no more chunks of cartilage ( genetic osteoarthritis ate it all), just the ache from bone on bone. OK, with our aging carving population someone has to know: Has anyone ever continued carving with total knee replacements? The doctors I have talked to have different opinions and none knows the stresses carving puts on knees and tibia ( maybe extra hose clamps?) I would rather ride and mountain bike and live on cortisone and ibuprofen than do road bikes, shuffle board and long walks on the beach (sorry Joe )

This fantastic two(?) of a kind board is ready for a new rider. It is in great shape , only one grind. I don't need to say much more. Those who are able to handle this ice eater know all about it already. I will bring it to ECES on Thursday and Friday. I may try it there with a plate. $500 firm. Realized in looking at the photo that the metal has a beveled edge. Still, the bottom is flat. no, the binding parts do not come with it. I don't want to be spending time friggin with the riggin at ECES.

Killington is tough. There is a high yahoo factor there. But after six years there every weekend, here's my strategy. First lift on Superstar, over the back and try Skyeburst. This puts you @ Bear Mt where the morning light is better. Bear has Wildfire, bearclaw and OL. All can be good for carving depending if they roll out the bumps. It changes daily. Get out of Bear by 9:30, it turns into a clusterfk after that. Needles Eye is good as is Superstar, again depending on the groom. Highline is good if is is not shut down due to race training, same with Needlles. After ten, I look for whatever trails the masses avoid. Ice is good that way. Keep your head on a swivel. The lack of snow has limited the # of trails and concentrated people on limited terrain. You also are in the overlap between MA,VT and NH school vacation weeks. See you saturday.

So all excited to break out a MADD on my day off...I call Buttermilk to make sure the hardboots are in stock- dig out my 158's JG- I wouldn't mind a 158 but I'm loving your old 180. Might have been the conditions, but it was sooo surefooted. I think it like to be ridden further toward the nose like the 158 so I may move the front foot forward. You get visiting rights at ECES. :)

Took the Madd out today on the frozen cord. It was hungry. Ate that crap up. It's off the market. I'm thinking this could ride reeeeeal nice with a vist/bomber plate. Might have been the new MR. Bomber folks get first looks at this before I involve Sotheby's. This board is in great shape, just a few cosmetic nicks and over an inch of camber. I received it from Hardbooter so Dave knows the history, but I don't think there is more than 2 sharpenings on this board. If I had the skills of MR. JOHN DEERE, I could get all this board has to offer. But, alas, as I am a mere aged mortal. I am offering this legendary creation to someone who can put more into it than scratches. I have a pair of these and they work fine. Strong, warm enough. Just two issues: 1. They leave black crap all over your boards where you carry your boards. Steve @ Thor suggested using mink oil to remove excess black from the gloves. I am not sure if it's part of the waterproofing or what. Just a mess. 2. NEVER try to wipe your nose on these things. Like using a rasp Good for the price though.

May take weeks or months to get to Killington since Rt 4 , Rt 107 and Rt 100 are all washed out. I was going to have a bike ride up in VT but can't get to my house. :(
