  1. When the 15 min convenience eventually becomes 15 min confinement.
  2. No it won't. The Global Warming is dead, all we hear about now is Climate Change talk. That will end your career, but not for the lack of snow, but because the hill will be out of your 15 min allowed range.
  3. Just back from staff orientation session, at Cypress. Some white stuff is there, about 50m up from the lodge level.
  4. On Carve RS there are 2 sets of holes in the base plate, just use the outer one. Not sure with the Race. I think you have to buy L instead of M. Maybe just the base plates can be bought?
  5. Welcome back! A traditional big Tanker would be awesome if there is no steep moguls or tight tree riding involved. It gets to cumbersome for that. Donek and Coiler have their hybrid models, that are somewhere in between the alpine and soft boot boards like Flux, BXFR and similar. Other than that, any beefier production freeride board mounted with plates would do. A big factor would also be your boot size and the angles you wanted to ride. That night determine if you needed to go custom, or just stock.
  6. RIP Unfortunately, SADS is a new normal nowadays.
  7. But, 27 shell is also 27.5 shell. They go up in full sizes, but liners go up in half sizes. With most companies, at least...
  8. Ahaha, Bryan is going to hate you, for inflating the price of the board I'd personally pay about $100 for it, in despite of Pogos bring kinda rare. Depends on the collector really, there are serious guys out there, running private museums, or simple people with fetish for woody topsheets like me...
  9. Is that a Speed 168, 22.5 wide? I loved mine, it was like a 4WD with a bit more pop AND more float in soft snow.
  10. Woo-hoo! Very cold nights coming up end of the week, there will be more.
  11. I also vote for the toe/heel lifts - I can't ride without unless my angles are below 30°. F2 typically comes with one chunky lift and 4 canting shims. Those 4 can be stacked in opposing directions to cancel the cant and work as pure lift. That might be enough for the front toe. The single chunky one is enough for the back heel, for many people. Then, some people riding the UPZ, say they need more front toe lift, than rear heel lift, due to steep internal ramp of UPZs. But, there is no way to know what would feel good for you, before you set the board and do some "carpet carving".
  12. Step-ins are a bit stiffer side to side. They don't work with Mountain Slope or alpine touring boots. Speaking of AT, we forgot to mention them as a viable option. Honestly, I would start with used boots, until you figured out the best fit/performance, for you.
  13. Has anyone noticed how the "global warming" narrative recently became "climate change"?
  14. Historically, we had some spectacular El Niño seasons, at Cypress. We'll see...
  15. I couldn't have put it together better! I actually don't mind a bit of taper (actually flair, going switch).
  16. ^ Go for it! I have a 165 version of this, with XT cut, built a bit lighter than my weight, it's super easy to ride, with great grip. Really nice for a first carving board.
  17. ^ Right there is the demonstration why you need to measure your feet. Most of the conversion charts would give you the 28 for US 10, but most people that wear "street" 10 are actually 9 or less, with a tight fitting shoe. Those numbers vary from one brand to another, too.
  18. In 20 years of riding, I have broken a bail once. The bindings were with old (thinner) F2 bails and bought from a racer, so abused already.
  19. Welcome! Measure your feet in cm, for proper sizing. The "size 10" can be deceiving for hard boots. Other than that, used gear is the way to go, in the beginning.
  20. Hi, I'm Boris. I'll run some of the on snow orientation groups and carving training later. There are few more instructors and other Cypress regulars that are into carving.
  21. Hey, that's excellent riding! But do I know you? How come you never joined the staff training/carving sessions at Cypress, last season?
  22. They sound like Donek version of Nirvana?
