  1. Crappy, crappy conditions, total of 4 runs open, including the Easy Rider... But, less crowd than typical for weekends. I saw 2 guys trying to carve a Moss and something else, Korean style, on soft boots, then one young guy on Mountain Slopes and a spring-hinged plate, and did few runs with Ethan on softies. My toys, 2 Coilers, VSR 165 and BXFR 160.
  2. Might be. At some stage, Kessler have used to make snowboards and skis for Palmer.
  3. What I'm trying to say is, these Santa wannabes will have to come at midnight, to make sure they are among the first 100.
  4. I've heard Santa comes at midnight. It might turn to be true
  5. There's a lot, but start with these: Whistler: around Emerald chair. Blackomb: around Jersey chair; Ridge Runner of Christal chair; Springboard under the Gondola.
  6. Tons of snow came down on Saturday. We were digging the cars out, on the way home.
  7. Only the Easy was open yesterday. Ok snow. Not too many people.
  8. I was just reading through instructor list, for Saturday training - we have 8 people of Chen last name! That's only snowboard side and only Saturday. I'll be up for on snow training/orientation, on Friday and Saturday.
  9. Oh boy... We all wish you a speedy recovery. Hopefully you can hit the slopes for some spring riding.
  10. Any stocl K171 would do, unless you need super soft or narrower than stock.
  11. Hay, welcome! That was a great buy, for 120. It would still have wood core, the metal is 2 layes, above and below the core. It got bent, because metal can reach the point of plastic deformation (overbent, then it doesn't straighten completely), unlike the fibre composites. The wooden core still might, or not, have developed a crack. Try aggressively bending the board by hand and listen for any cracking/squeaking sounds. I have an old metaltop Volant that I have "redesigned" like that BTW, that board probably already had a bit of early nose rise, but less noticeable than now. Most of the modern alpine boards do. Sometimes we call it nose de-camber (sometimes tail too). Anything more than that is not required, or desirable. Anyways, enjoy your alpine journey.
  12. Those who really believe in WEF agendas, should stop winning on internet forums, while happily driving 4x4s to the mountains and riding power hungry lifts, and diesel groomed slopes. At least hike the backcountry for your turns, while it would be way better to reduce your activities only to absolutely necessary ones. Even better, move to land and get into self-sufficient farming. But mind you, it will probably turn out that your cows fart too much. Of course, there's still the ultimate solution of assisted suicide, already offered by progressive governments, like ours.
  13. Thanks professor. "There" is from my post before it became "here". Mods have moved it here. But I'll edit, so you don't end up in Ontario.
  14. Obviously, here. He opened a Cypress thread, I have advised him to post here instead, mods have merged his and my post into this thread and deleted his. How is your girlfriend, have you mouted her yet? I'm pretty sure they can make enough snow for opening, the nights are really cold. It's the staff on snow orientation that's been pushed to that weekend.
  15. Nice board. We all hope the same. I have asked mods to move this to the Lower Mainland thread. Please post the local content over here.
  16. Well, you said -21 +21, so rear could be +21? A bit of toe overhang is actually a good thing on softies... Careful with overuse of weird positions/twists. Accumulative injuries are a bitch. I actually started getting some rear hip/groin issues after few years of similar stance... As for the front foot doing more on the heel side, try this mental picture: STAND on the rear heel, drive the front knee into direction of turn and down to the snow. Also, over rotation, for the given angles, can lead to only front leg doing the work. But I'm talking too much, you are way better soft boot carver than me
  17. Nice riding. Looking at your preferred upper body position and how you point your rear knee into direction of travel, you must be putting lots of torque on your back ankle. Forward angles should be more natural, like 30/15, or something.
  18. When the 15 min convenience eventually becomes 15 min confinement.
  19. No it won't. The Global Warming is dead, all we hear about now is Climate Change talk. That will end your career, but not for the lack of snow, but because the hill will be out of your 15 min allowed range.
  20. Just back from staff orientation session, at Cypress. Some white stuff is there, about 50m up from the lodge level.
  21. On Carve RS there are 2 sets of holes in the base plate, just use the outer one. Not sure with the Race. I think you have to buy L instead of M. Maybe just the base plates can be bought?
  22. Welcome back! A traditional big Tanker would be awesome if there is no steep moguls or tight tree riding involved. It gets to cumbersome for that. Donek and Coiler have their hybrid models, that are somewhere in between the alpine and soft boot boards like Flux, BXFR and similar. Other than that, any beefier production freeride board mounted with plates would do. A big factor would also be your boot size and the angles you wanted to ride. That night determine if you needed to go custom, or just stock.
