  1. Consider yourself corrected. No, you do not need a flat surface. Set one edge into the snow and step-in. It may require more/different balance, but rarely do I step-in with the board flat. I may put a hand down if the run is really steep. I always clean-out the heal receiver after stepping out and before stepping in. Typically I can just stomp the board, but if the snow is sticky, I'll reach down and clean it out by hand.
  2. I don't know the construction but... if the entire core is wrapped in a Zylon sock, then the Zylon on the bottom of the core would be in tension when the board is decambered. That would explain why the boards have so much pop.Does anyone know the actual lay-up?
  3. Lovey 4-Paks are $109 or $119 depending on when/where you purchase
  4. linky link -- you have to wait for some of the images to scroll through
  5. e-mail sent and yes, Bola is a very good guy!
  6. Ideally you will want to flex both boards before making a decision. ;)
  7. I spent an hour flexing ~10 different Duprazs. I picked the flex that I though matched my riding style the best. Call Bola and talk to him, he's not on here that often.
  8. OUCH! Glad to hear that it wasn't any worse.

  12. IIRC, Lee used to be at Mountainmiser. Heard good things, but... the answer to your question is Larry. Period. No one else! And yes, I drive over an hour to go see him. If you search, you will find that Larry's name comes up on a regular basis.
  13. I'm out on the 2nd (Albuquerque) Another trip just scheduled, so I'm out on the 9th (Phoenix) I'm out on the 16th (Cleveland) Might have another one so possibly out on the 23rd - hopefully not (Miami) I'm tired of this chit!!! Luckily the Wichita trip scheduled for Aug/Sept was canceled. Sadly, it was the only trip I was looking forward to. :(
  14. dude, I wish they would. I'm think about making the jump from a 155 to a 156. Don't tell anyone, but... I'm a little skeered. :o PS - my Burton Custom is, like, the best board, like, evar made.
  15. it sounds like the 192 Tanker is the perfect compliment to what you have
  16. Depends on what the rest of your quiver looks like. But yes, the 192 Tanker is an awesome board.
  17. Yup, 80mm Reba Race. Once I get the new stem, I'll be stylin'. The 10-deg. rise had me too high and the front tire way too light on steep climbs. You're going to dig how well the 29'er rides! I'm still smiling about the 20+ miles of single track I did today. I would guess it started out with 5 miles of descending, then 13 miles of climbing, and finished with 2 miles of descending. I was pumping away through the rolling terrain and staying right on the tail of a guy on a 575 who was grinding away.
  18. Yeah, I got bit. Here is my new toy: Picked it up yesterday afternoon and have ridden ~30 miles of single track on it. I could not imagine a better XC machine! I am a believer, 29'ers are real!
  19. Have you thought about something like this? It's steel, single speed, linear pull brakes... definitely no frills, but inexpensive. Good, apparently I'm not the only person that thinks quattros are a pain in the a$$. Hadn't thought about putting my old egg beaters on the road bike.
  20. You might try contacting Mark (Snowman).
  21. double A, How goes the build? Any pics? I am fighting the urge to build a light weight, hardtail 29er. I would like to have something lighter to do some longer rides (i.e. 30 - 50 miles) and with my 5.5" travel FS weighing in at 32lbs, I'm not man enough.
  22. Take some fine sandpaper or emery cloth and remove the blueing. The oxide will decrease the effectiveness of your rear brake and it can gum-up your pads. The rear is skidding because your weight is too far forward. Work on getting your weight back and really feeling what the lever/brake are doing. The brake feel will change once they are broken in.
  23. which parking lot, A or B? (Sorry, you have to click the link; I cannot get the map to embed. )
