  1. Tangentially related question: Can Fintec heels work in F2 bindings and can Intec heels work in Bomber bindings? Or better put....are the "stiletto, carving" :) heels all the same size-wise?
  2. Re the Malamutes: In case anyone is thinking about them....mine just arrived and I wish I had gone a size smaller. If you are going to get these and are in between sizes...go down not up.
  3. Mr Beckmann, can you give me some more insight as to what you mean by "ride on one foot"? As in just like when getting off the lift and one is on the stomp pad? Front foot only and back foot in the air? Both in the binding but weighting only one foot? thanks
  4. Mig.....I didn't know you were on Bomber! Good info and yes.....I need to "take the plunge" and will...... probably not until summer, but I think I'll get there. :)
  5. Sooooo.....about 1.5 or 2 years ago I traveled down to Utah to ride with a friend of mine and had the carving epiphany. I then went to my local shop here in Idaho and asked about buying some carving equipment. This turned into..."how about ordering some for me?" which they were not interested in either. I drove down to Salty Peaks in Salt Lake and asked. They had one pair of dusty hardboots labelled "do not put on sale". They were also not interested in ordering anything for me. Both places were definitely trying to talk me out of it. I called a place over in Jackson and could not even find anyone that knew what I was talking about. Bottom line.....I don't think most sales and particularly no rental shop is going to be carve friendly. Just not what they do. C'est la vie in my opinion. Their loss.
  6. Hmm....I've never met him but I'll take your word for it :)
  7. I hear ya...I have been looking too, and probably looking for just what you are talking about, looking for great edge control. I keep hovering around a Fullbag Diamond Blade. Big time EE just for soft boot carving. The designer, Mig Fullbag rides hard and softboots and knows what a carve is all about. But....there really isn't any way to demo this board.....so, I remain in hover mode :)
  8. The precip areas look somewhat correct.....at least as far as predicting areas that would have excess and areas with lower amounts. http://www.wcc.nrcs.usda.gov/webmap/index.html#elements=&networks=SNTL,SNTLT&states=!&counties=!&hucs=&minElevation=&maxElevation=&elementSelectType=all&activeOnly=true&hucLabels=false&stationLabels=&overlays=&hucOverlays=&mode=data&openSections=dataElement,parameter,date,elements,location,networks&controlsOpen=true&popup=&base=esriNgwm&dataElement=WTEQ&parameter=PCTMED&frequency=DAILY&duration=I&customDuration=&dayPart=E&year=2016&month=1&day=6&monthPart=E&lat=40.897&lon=-101.997&zoom=5 Sorry, I wish I knew how to embed websites or embed photos
  9. I bought 3 Euro boards this year and if there were any tariffs they must have paid it themselves and included it in the shipping charge because I just clicked "purchase" and then they arrived. :) No probs and no extra bills.
  10. Mr SBS Clearly you enjoy surfing or at least that surfy feel? If so, you need to acquire a Dupraz D1. No surfier snow ride exists! :) You won't regret it.

    Dupraz

There are a couple on ebay. I don't know how you came upon the secret of getting a Durpraz but you won't be disappointed. Fantastic boards!!
  12. Where in Utah? How about the top and the bottom? I just took my boys down to Brian Head just because I hadn't been there in a while and thought it was great. No where near the other places mentioned though but it is in Utah. You two can check out Zion NP while there too. Quite a few condos right there at the place. At the other end of the state is a place that, In my opinion, is best kept secret in Utah and that is Beaver Mountain. That place is great! But....no place to stay. If driving there from Logan each day is an option then it would meet all of your needs. Both of these are quiet places and won't have the party atmosphere you would have if you stayed at Snowbird or one like it.
  13. I would post this same notice on snowboarding forum also. Lots of Colorado folks on there.
  14. Not carving decks but I just got my two Dupraz D1s. I boot-hiked up Fred's Mountain in Wyoming to take a few runs yesterday on the 5 1/2 ft one and it is a snow surfer! Fantastic pow ride! Can't wait for the season to open so i can try the 6 ft deck and check their performance on groomers. The Dupraz reps told me they ride great with plate bindings if I am so inclined.
  15. We had another thread like this and I was the barer of bad news there too. The Farmers Almanac gives predictions based on normal patterns. The El Nino interferes with that. Unfortunately, for my area this is predicted to be a bad winter for snow. For those in New Mexico it should be good. This is based on the NOAA info. If you are in Montana it is an even worse outlook. http://www.cpc.ncep.noaa.gov/products/predictions/long_range/lead03/off03_prcp.gif
  16. Timmytard just sold two decks that might have fit your needs (they are technically borderX). Too bad if so. He said they went cheap. http://forums.bomberonline.com/index.php?/topic/41504-palmer-titanium-channel-164-x2/#entry426960
  17. Very nice! I do love the fluid movement with the "old school" surfing. Is Tom any relation to Corky Carroll?
  18. Wow 16 inches is much more than the couple we got on our summits. The link tells of NOAA predicting a Godzilla El Nino for Big Sky. I wish!! As has been posted in other threads here, NOAA predicts a bad winter for Big Sky. Good for NM, Arizona, but bad for Montana and Eastern Idaho (where I am). Bummer! Bad predictions aside....the report of 16 inches this early is certainly hopeful and I hope NOAA is wrong!
  19. I see I never gave the "rest of the story" with this. Sooooo....for anyone that has this, surfed into this thread while researching, and has a worrisome hope of healing......it did finally go away. Took about 4-6 months, but it finally did. The area of numbness just kept shrinking more and more in a slow process. Most was gone after 2 months but some lingered. Eventually both feet just had some numbness between the two, first toes. Just this month I finally proclaimed it 100% resolved, but it was only 5-10% that hung on the last 3 months or so. Since that small amount seemed it wasn't leaving I decided that it must be permanent but wasn't too worried as that small amount wasn't bothersome at all....but even it went away with time. The silver lining to this is that I used the ailment as a springboard for new boots without too much protest from Mrs Duke. (hey Doctors orders right?) I went ahead a sprung for some new UPZ boots that would fit better (my original mistake was buying boots that were my normal shoe size). They fit perfectly and harass no foot tissue that I know of....even if they are nearly impossible to remove :)
  20. Thanks Corey, these were great. I was a bit surprised that one guy buries his spare board in the snow....yikes. Then there was this line which was definitely worth a chuckle or two: "....I think the only thing I am worried about like Maciek said is someone taking my beer. I have heard the ruthlesness of the wild carver after a day of eating cord. When he is perched on his barstool sipping nectar, he scans the room for cougars and other threats, but cannot resist the temptation of someone else's beer.:D "
