    Stratton

    is there anything up there?
  2. Nokians are the way to go. I have them on my kids 2001 Altima and it's grat in the snow.
  3. get it while it's hot: http://tinyurl.com/y7jdzq drill your own holes? I don't get it.
  4. Is there any snow in the east? NO. Save your time and money and find something else to do or get on a plane to CO.
  5. http://www.bomberonline.com/VBulletin/showthread.php?t=13645 that oxygen is sweet and it's 19 wide. I know the owner and it is perfect and barely ridden. It is fast, Big sidecut so it needs some room but very damp and very stable. not for beginners http://www.bomberonline.com/reviews/boards.htm
  6. I was there Friday and it was awful. I did three runs and went home in disgust. Lots of debris in the surface, very loose granular on the edges of the trail and very firm in the middle, and very irregular. Skiers didn't seem to mind but it's not the surface I want to be laying out carves on. I'm buying a plane ticket.
  7. I know a freind that has a Nidecker Escape 155 he never uses. It would be a perfect board to learn on. I'll forward this link to him.
  8. my trusty old beat up Nidecker Escape 174 with that big long nose and setback inserts
  9. grab the FC 171 now. 30 days is nothing on this board. it's what you need.
  10. now go over to the Ducati dealer and get a monster 695 formally the 620). consider yourself lucky
  11. I know the Starting Gate in Bondville, VT has one in their demo rack - I'm sure they'd love to sell it. Give them a call at (802) 297-1213, ask for Sean, and tell him Cliff told you about it.
  12. Are you at the mountain I was at least weekend? Or is there another Stratton in some alternate universe?
  13. I have a Volkl Cross 167 in good condition for $150 shipped. Plenty of life in the board - loads of camber. Topsheet has some chips and a few scratches in the base - nothing a base grind wouldn't take care of. Great board but I just don't ride it. Perfect for railing on. Send me an email if your interested. Pics: http://www.flickr.com/photos/cliff06430/
  14. contact me. I have a 167 Volkl Cross in good shape.
  15. do you have a brush? after scraping all the wax off the surface you need to brush the board to get the remaining wax out from the base structure. Tognar or any good snowboard shop sells them. Get the nylon brush for finish work. The brass bristled brush is good for before you wax to clean out any surface dirt and prepare the base to accept wax better. read all about it: http://www.tognar.com
  16. I was up there sat. Stay away from the south side - exposed rocks everywhere. The front trails are fine - Cheif was empty while everythign else crowded.
  17. I'm about your size. I find boards in the 170 cm length to be the most versitile and fun for my size. I have a blast when I ride boards shorter and longer but for an all around ride a 170 does it for me. I have a 171 Donek FC I and a 170 Nidecker GS and love them both. This Oxygen http://www.bomberonline.com/VBulletin/showthread.php?t=10225 looks like a deal. I rode a 168 the other day and it was very nice. PS - at your weight (at any weight!) I would stay away from the Burton and Raichle bindings.
  18. Tommy - check your mail. The solution lies within grasshopper.
  19. I've seen her ride - she's ready. I hate to see her crusing around on that whale.
  20. D-Sub - no one is saying anything of the kind. Someone states they prefer a hard boot set up to a softboot setup and you think it's a bash fest. Everyone has seen soft booters ripping it up in all kinds of terrain. Hell - both my kids can ride circles around me. All that was said was some people prefer riding varied terrain/conditions in hardboots. Personally I think the board choice is what is important, not the boot choice. BTW – the reason you don’t see many hard booters hitting the most advanced terrain possible is BECAUSE THERE ARE NOT THAT MANY HARDBOOTERS TO BEGIN WITH…for gods sake. Honestly – who gives a **** what somebody rides – board, skis, soft, hard. It’s how you ride, not what you ride. Don’t take this to a bad place.
  21. I revisited softboots earlier this year after a 5 year hiatus and I have to say I was not impressed. I rode them on a powder day earlier this year thinking I would appreciated the flexibility. I didn’t. I just got back from Copper and we had two powder days with a foot of new snow each day. I rode my Nidecker Escape 174 with my hardboots down steep mogul runs, back bowls, trees, and blue cruisers. My setup was absolutely perfect for everything. My softboot days are officially over.
  22. hate to sound like a broken record but my vote is for a Donek Freecarve I (18 cm waist) in the 171 length. I enjoy riding other boards of various manufacturers and lengths. There are very few I just didn't like, there are many that I really like, but the one 'go to' deck, for me, has always been my FC I. I've never had a bad day on it. That said - it's really a matter of personal taste.

    Gloves?!?!

I brought mine to a shoemaker and had him sew a leather patch on the palm. Should get an extra season or so out of them.
