  1. I am happy to see this level of thought going into development. It sure is scary to think I will not be able to just order a new Nirvana from Bruce when my quiver looses some pop :(
  2. "The twisty tree is a little too plain and "Tim Burton" for me" I cant agree more. Makes me feel like I need some emo/goth clothing and a trip to Hot Topic in the mall. "Joe's interpretation of the original graphic : Once upon a time there was this little boy, looking over his flower, naive, intimated, excited. As time went on, he nurtured it, like we do with so many things we are passion about. He has a deep connection with this flower, and as it grew, so did he never leaving it behind. He now lives in this flower, protecting his passion/ his spirit/ his drive & despite growing up and life trying to get in his way, He marks his territory with a new beginning, ready to grow, but humble to his roots." Lives in the flower? - He must be upside down or underground with startled looking eyes popping out from the bottom of the tree. protecting his passion/ his spirit/ his drive & despite growing up and life trying to get in his way? - Looks more like hiding out as a black hole sun sucks the life, color and detail out of his universe. That said perhaps my interpretation reveals more about me than the intent of the artist. I am reminded of Kurt Vonnegut's failing essay about his own book in Back to School with Rodney Dangerfield. Sometime between 1989 and 1992 there was an article/short story in a snowboard magazine probably Transworld that I wish I could find and frame. A man on his way to the resort picks up a young grom hitchhiking giving him a ride and some advise. The grom wants a car so he can go snowboarding anytime - He is schooled by the man in a range rover with wife and kids who advises "Dont buy the car." With the car comes need for a job ect until you find yourself with all material needs met but only one week of free time to snowboard - the exact place the adviser is. Then again perhaps its just that I bought the car and my body habitus doesnt work with the "Tim Burton" look as I would be the first rather than second image. Lets find each other on the hill with tons of stoke and hero snow!
  3. AGREED!!! of course the design spec states: "We want to acknowledge the original MADD158 artwork in some way. John Gilmore (the original designer of the MADD158) has said “As for the image, I hope it’s a good one…like the MADD flower 23 years later as a tree getting chain sawed and milled into Doneks, or a Narco style execution for the little boy – now Graduate school aged… ” there are some strong words in there - chain sawed, milled and "Narco style execution" I tried to google these key words to see how close each graphic was to them. PLEASE dont google image "Narco style execution" - That was a mistake. Lets hope for a resolution that is appealing to all parties. I would be happy to ride this board with a black top and no graphic, the graphic selected by Donek or will ask permission to have a custom one made with a graphic of my choosing. In the end a bit of color wont stop my stoke. Certainly agree with Jack that images are meaningful and can be powerful. - When trying to appeal and be inoffensive to all you often end up with something bland. Peace
  4. Here is to hoping for an executive decision or better yet the option to choose your own graphic on a "Madd construction" This design is AWESOME!!! Time for an Alpine carver with visual appeal to jibbers and reference to the classics. That just may be the ticket to bring more riders to the carve-side.
  5. sorry for the duplicate posting -
  6. I LOVE the flowing color and overall visual of the meat grinder submission
  7. I second the motion for intec heels! If these are an option count me in for 2 pairs. After riding a stepin setup I dont forsee going back but I would love to support a new boot.
  8. Thanks for the support! on a serious note - you would not believe how hard it was to get people (one good samaritan and then ski patrol) to help me release my bindings with my feet above my head on my back in a tree well. My board was anchored securely in about 1' of snow and I couldn't move it, my knee hooked on the tree. Thank god I wasn't knocked out and could give direction. Everyone went straight to the bindings and I had a hard time focusing them on the intec handle coming from the top of my boot. (Even more an issue if you tuck your pants over the boot and handle.) If you ride intec - Make sure everyone knows how to get you out of your intec bindings. I am thinking of printing a sticker or better a stomp pad with instructions.
  9. President's day weekend my knee met a tree here is some fun hardware for you all to see my orthopod today said to me: "mountainbike this summer to rehab your knee"
  10. Note to bomber crew Angie & Jim - How about an incremental update to an already awesome product which could make it more versatile for the carving community? Necessary revision clearly demonstrated above and I will order the first two sets.
  11. Man you are on my vibe - I love the adjustability of catek and the steel TD heel! Someone make this happen and I am in for a set
  12. is that a pin at the heel for intec stepin? looks like both models have a pin where a intec pin would be
  13. New Coiler on the LEFT - Nirvana on the right. I asked Bruce for an allmountain powder and tree board. What would you choose for a day with mixed groom powder and trees that funnel you into some narrow long bump runs. After a bit of back and forth this is what he came up with. A modified SL board with asym core 167cm with 145effective edge the nose with a longer elevation from the usual 165 for powder float. Angry sidecut 8.5/11/9 21.5cm wide. I was out in mixed conditions at WolfCreek yesterday and can tell you all that this is just what the Doctor ordered. Anyone on the fence should take advantage of the $US-$CN exchange.
  14. This arrived in the mail today from Harry at Rad-Air. One cambered and one rockered 200. Cant wait for enough snow in my area to justify these monsters.
  15. I second the vote for a new Coiler. The prices are great now and Bruce is great to work with. For just a bit more than a good used board you can have a new custom with the input and advice of a master. Recently I made a 20yr leap and the other thing that was great was stepin bindings with fintec heels.
  16. "you carve, you carve, you carve, ... no slide" Those words echo in my head even today on a great run. I am still trying to ride with the style these guys had back then. And by style I meant technique but I would certainly rock those euro outfits given the chance.
  17. Wow - kicking myself for missing this Are those hydraulic dampeners on that board? That is neat!
  18. Amen to that - I would love to try a 9 degree cant Anyone know the max canting angle on a catek While I love the ride of my TD3sw weight is a downside. Sure would be cool to try something lighter like carbon fiber for the cant disks.
  19. Are those metal tops or silver paint? Wow I am way over my toy budget for the year. This may push me a bit further if only I can find one. Any word on where those NOS might be? Is exoticboards.com a reputable retailer? They are not listed on the main Rad-Air site.
  20. Greg thats beautiful!!! I want to try that ride
  21. Still trying to wrap my head around having one side with a shorter and the other with longer running edge. Certainly not the asymmetric board I am used to with the same sidecut offset to keep the center of a carve between you heels and toes. That said I think there is something to the feel of an asym and cant wait to try my "new" PJ7. This makes the Lib-tech banana look sane http://cdn.lib-tech.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/1314-Lib-Tech-Banana-Banana.png
  22. Feeling MADD Board arived today and looks GREAT :) waiting for snow Thanks
  23. Strava is awesome! Love to track my rides and have found a few routes I didnt know about right in my backyard while mountainbiking here in Durango fun to see how different each ride is. some days I feel like a superstar and then look to see that I was slower than anticipated. otherdays I feel like Im going to die and see a record on strava
