  1. 9 bus loads of middle schoolers gets you a lot of questions, one near miss(closer than 6") at 40mph, and a whole lot of "cool helmet(Ruroc)/board!" however, a dad talking to his daughter takes the cake. The chairs at my hill are pretty close together, about 20ft. A father, daughter and son in a chair behind me, all on skis. I hear the daughter ask "What's that he's riding?" It was a rev 170 w/ TD3 sw si. The dad replies "It's sorta like training wheels, once he gets better he'll transfer to a real snowboard." I was way too confused/intrigued at the ignorance/flabbergasted to say anything.
  2. Uh-oh, Pat's down! Broken tib-fib at Stratton today. I'm sure he'll post more details.
  3. Yesterday, getting off the top of the lift, and pushing to the drop off. I hear two 4th or 5th graders(probably their first or second year on boards) debating whether or not they were going hit this tiny kicker the parkies always make on the side of the run. As I slide by, I hear "Oh, lets watch this dude hit it, He's a professional, look at his equipment!" I was riding a Rev 170 with TD3 SW SI. I proceeded to ride around the kicker and rip the sh!t out of the run. Brace yourselves, the Jibbers are becoming educated! Today, going to the lift line, a boarder riding out of the park says "Bro, that's an Alpine board, You have an awesome setup!" That was honestly one of the best moments this season, coming from one of the better park riders at hv.
  4. lots of "Dude, it's a ski board!" and then, if it's not a dad talking to his son, I'm more than happy to correct them
  5. I must say I've seen quite the opposite, I've seen almost no one talking about him as a traitor, with almost everyone saying how the ussa sucks.
  6. Especially with their "all snowboarders qualify for nationals" mentality they have adopted this year. not that I mind having more people to compete against though
  7. What are your thoughts on NASTAR's new nationals qualifications for snowboard? The top TWENTY snowboards in EACH age and gender category at EVERY resort automatically qualify for nationals. With AIM now in control of NASTAR, are they trying to open it up to snowboarders more? It would be nice to see more that ~60 total boarders at nationals.
  8. The US uniforms look butt ugly this year... Canada's uniforms actually look pretty cool. I'd be proud to be seen in public in their uniform
  9. Interesting day today... A Russian got mad a me because I went to the singles line and he though it started at the back of everybody, and I wouldn't move. So he yelled at me as he stood there and I got on a chair. Some southern dude asked "is that a ski AND a snowboard?" ...what?... I had a funny conversation with a stubborn girl while waiting for nastar, she was under 7 or 8, so I was ok with it. She kept asking what certain parts of my setup were, and I would tell her, and then she would say "no it's not"
  10. I read that when you posted on facebook. I kinda hope they walk out and the Olympics are left without course builders. (OK maybe not that, but the IOC needs a BIG slap upside the head.) Why hold the Olympics on the black sea, in a very corrupt country? I wouldn't be surprised if they(coursebuilders) and others do not get paid whatsoever. If what he is saying is really true, It will be very interesting to see how the world reacts in 15 days.
  11. please, keep up the good work! I didn't know those type of spring existed, They seem very promising. I don't think we could encircle an part of the boot, since it would be smaller once someone tightened the buckles. I do think the Linear Expander could be run down the back of the cuff, or possibly down the front.
  12. Also, I think these boots need to rely less on the boot material for flex and more on customizable system...
  13. Will do Boris neanderthol, I don't know how feasible a spring system would be. The position they would have to be in would make the boots Incredibly wide, and they would have to be VERY stiff to be small enough to work. (if) a spring snapped, that would could do some pretty catastrophic damage to an ankle. However, There WILL be some sort of adjustable forward cant, in addition to something that delivers flex similar to BTS. These will definitely be compatible with step ins. nils, I'm not sure how much help something like that would be at this point, given what people want, this won't be taking very many measurements from an existing boot. Maybe i'll get lucky and be drinking soda out of a northwave mold this evening...
  14. thinking out loud here, would still like your feedback though. The NW boots are set back and tilted forward on the heel and toe. I think that needs to be incorporated into these boots. I think 5 buckles will need to be used. Feet are flat, why are boot's lowers so round and tall? Working on a sorta-bts concept... BTS-like setup will be used on the calf, except the part separating the springs will be connected to a rod or bar, which will connect to the boot just above the heel notch. Connection at BTS spot will be adjustable, so you can lock in a more vertical or more forward angle, while still retaining the same flexibility as the current BTS. I will try to come up with a couple different types of lowers and uppers. What about two different pivot points, vertical of each other, and two different heights of uppers? Keep the ideas coming please!
  15. In my 3d design class, I have ALOT of spare time, enough that I didn't have to do any work whatsoever in November. I figured I'd put that to good use this spring and attempt to design Northwave's in AutoCAD inventor. I need any pictures you have, dimensions for anything on the shell. I'm an idiot and can't activate messaging on here, so please email me at drew.ellison1 at gmail.com. If you have dimensions, please include what size, mondo, you are referencing. When finished, these drawings can be reversed and made into molds. So please, contribute whatever you can! :biggthump
  16. Not a good year for snow in Europe or US racers...
  17. Riding the lift with Harmless yesterday, and he was riding his donek rev, made for him last year. Liftie says "dude, that's gotta be like 20 years old".
  18. No, I meant what I said, I know the ranking handicaps are messed up. My best hdcp last year was 66-67ish, my best runs this year have both been a 54
  19. Haha, I'm ahead of scrutton! 106! Don't know if its me or the pacesetter, but my hcp was 12 points lower than my absolute lowest last year, both times I've raced this year. Either way, I like it!
  20. I believe you can blame me, sort of, for the bug. Last year I noticed the national ranking handicaps were 3 times what they should have been, so I then alerted pat and he alerted nastar. Then bam, all other national handicaps, years past and overall, were 1/3 of what they should have been. And Pat, Them be some low handicaps your layin' down, 6th overall out of 286:biggthump
