  1. They like to pack it hard here in michigan. I've always heard 10-1 just like he said, and the same 10-7 for the sticky stuff. With real snow i'd prefer that they leave it be, let us have the little fun we can get here. But the "man made" snow, yeah that sucks ungroomed.
  2. I rented fear of a flat planet once, from some random video rental place in bfe. didn't even know what it was, the box just looked cool, it had a fist with FEAR written across the four fingers. you do have the name right, but good luck finding it anywhere. ill see if i cant scare up a bootleged copy of it here and let you know if it works out. Edit: Buy it here?
  3. Is that snow from an ice rink parking lot? That was a regular summer activity for me and my buddies, except we made really big jumps and then towed into them. We had some crazy rails set up to, and wallrides and all sorts of stuff. All it took was about a 12' by 8' box trailer and my tiny jeep wrangler. Things got a little scary on the road yes, but that was enough "snow" for about a week in 75 degree weather because we tarped it when it wasn't time to play.
  4. Haha launch him off the top of Hemlock, that would be a killer sight. I'm more of a Crystal Mountain weekend worrier though. So you could make him launch off the drop on Loki how i like to do it, that would work too. Either way thats freakin awesome, now you just gotta work on foolin people into thinkin its actual footage with realistic textures and whatnot.
  5. can you make him do more?
  6. looks to me that the majority do agree that boots need the most work. I would like to agree, and i think i do, but there is a problem with my opinion since i havent gone to snowboard specific hardboots. I just wish that i wouldn't tear the ankles of my skiboots right apart, they need a stronger way to hold em together, im sure the spring system takes care of that problem for the most part. But i doubt completely.
  7. They are great when they have crazy sharp edges, but that might just be a Michigan thing. Anyways laying down carves on those things is the closest i've been to the feeling you get on an alpine board, and it does seem really similar when you are moving super fast. I have used then as a racing tool to help with centering my weight, but i would never want to use them on a busy day because to be fun you pretty much need to be flyin on em. Sic t 2, have you ever heard of saucer boy? Shane McConkey is what he goes by most of the time, but your opinion of what they should be used for sounds like it came from watching the movie "There is something about McConkey". If any of you want to know what i am talking about just find that movie because it's great. But i'd rather see the park rats on those things than have some dude walkin across the hill with a beer in his hand.
  8. He didn't make it sound like he was breaking them out until December, and I'm still in the market for a board, camber or not, as i will always be, so Mr.C5 Golfer is the offer still on the table? My adress is already typed up in an email and it can be sent to you at the touch of a key, you just let me know.
  9. thanks, i'll have to figure out the leagth of my new boots now, since they are 2 hours away its probably going to take a day anyways.
  10. So i've got a softy set up, a broken alpine board, and the one i just replaced it with, and if we're counting all of our boards i guess i should mention the fact that i've got about 10 pairs of skis, so you can add 20 to that 3 i mentioned. Guess i could explain the skis, the first 2 pair i can think of are for racing, both are volkl p40's, then i've got some old volants that i lend out to people i hate hahaha. then i still have the first pair of skis i ever skied on, and the last 6 pair were the type that you find at a ski swap for $5 that i bought and use for jumping since they seem to break so easily.
  11. basically what i was looking for was sole leagth of the longest boot that it'll hold. I wouldnt be using snowboard specific boots with them, it would be ski boots, and i know the boots i have work with burton bindings, i have the really old ones they just arent step ins and i thought that would be a nice change.
  12. any idea what the maximum boot leangth is they will fit?
  13. ive been skiing since 85, started on softies in about 96 or so i think, then got on an alpine board 2 seasons ago at the very end. Anyways, when i started on softies i wanted to be on an alpine board but could never afford it. Either way it was still a ton of fun, but now that i have an alpine board i almost never use the freestyle board but i switch back and forth on skis still probably an average of 4 times each day i'm on the hill. It's simple, if i find some terrain i think would be fun on skis, i swap out until im bored, then i switch back, or the other way around.
  14. i'd go with the saab, just because they're fun and they look nice
  15. it's just like, the final bribe, you might think they have something to gain from marriage, but do they?
  16. not that this is on topic or anything, but you could just move to Michigan where the runs are short enough for one set of speakers to be loud enough to cover the entire leangth of the hill, so thats what the resorts do is blast music for everyone to listen to. you might think, well then its not your choice music, BUT, the way to take care of that is make a CD with music resonable enough for other people to here, and then go find the person who controls the system, they seem to be very nice and accommidating.
  17. cust curious if you made crime beat or whatever they call that in the paper here, i haven't had a chance to look yet, but i wouldn't be at all suprised. if you are you should go offer an explenation so they can write a whole article up about you and your carear as the campus longboard rebel.
  18. art, if thats the way the child wants to be taught then its a totally different story. Obvioulsy that would be the way to go if that were the case.
  19. i personally disagree with the harness method, not because i think it doesn't work, but instead because i know it can be done without, and that method of teaching just seems cruel to me.
  20. well yes, a spotter is good for making the wake even, but so are 3 80 pound blocks of lead. and when you have a 700 pound fat sack under the bow of the boat, the same in the rear and 2 side sacks that go 350 a piece, moving something forward or back doesnt make that much difference anymore. also, its called a mirror, they do a good job making comunication between the driver and the person being pulled easier. so yes, its nice to have a spotter, but the best spotter that you can find is someone thats not going to eat any of your food, or want a set behind the boat themselves. stop making me want to get back out on the water, last time i went i got a concussion.
  21. my suggestion is this, start your kid on skis, and then get him into snowboarding. skiing is a way easier way to learn the basics on the snow, and you can start way younger because there isn't really that huge of a balance issue. so when you get him on a snowboard, he'll pick it up way faster. i'm kind of using myself as an example here, i started skiing when i was two and a half, and picked up snowboarding i think when i was around 10 years old, but it only took me a few days on the snow to learn the basics, and now i switch back and forth all the time because they are both fun sports and there are advantages of one or the other on certain occasions.
  22. spotter psh, who needs a spotter, as long as there aren't any police or dnr around, wakeboarding without a spotter is better than wakeboarding with a spotter, because then you dont have a third person that wants to be pulled.
  23. wakeboarding is from when the ice thaws, to when the lake freezes over, snowboarding is for when there is snow on the ground, now here in michigan, in my 21 years, thats overlaped only a handfull of times, well there was that one time we went wakeboarding before the ice melted too, but i dont think that counts. anyway if i could do both all year round i would.
