  1. Poles are dumb, come on now we're a bunch of hardbooting snowboarders here. We don't use poles. The fact is, if I did a pole, the only people who would vote in it are you regulars in this thread. That and it wouldn't matter anyway, because the only way this thread is going anywhere is if the original thread starter decides to remove it, or the mods lock it.
  2. Thanks for the support. Ignore me if you don't care what I think please. I was asking one person that has the ability to do something about it, but I think that person is too proud of their creation to consider it. Oh well, it was worth a shot.
  3. I would just like to see this place as active as it could be, that is all. I tend to spend less time here if I come looking for new things people are talking about and all I find are new posts in the never ending single subject lacking Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay OT thread. If this thread continues forever they may as well do away with the ability to create a new thread in the off topic forum, and put a direct link opening this thread from the off topic forum. I feel like it is the equivalent of hitting the reply all button in your email and then having everyone on your email contact list quote what you said, add to it, and then using the reply all function in their email with an endless cycle. Then only using that giant cluster $%&@ for emails from there on out and three years later adding a new contact in to your email addresses so that he can look at your fancy creation and say wtf did i miss? Okay well I'm not sure if what I just typed makes any sense. There may be a few run on sentences, but I just feel like this thread would be better gone. Yeah okay it's a real cute creation but how are you going to search it if you want to go back and look at that thing you talked about that one time? Or find that picture you thought was so cool? look through it one page at a time? It was just a thought, that's all
  4. Aisling, is there any chance you can do away with this thread? I feel like the subject is always changing in here and all of the super regulars use this thread to chat rather than starting new threads with their new OT topics. It's super confusing and hard to follow any of it for me and I assume people like me because of the amount of subject changes so I find myself ignoring it most of the time, but I think it would be nice to be able to converse with you guys about the random OT stuff that comes up. I'm sorry if this sounds like a dumb request but I feel like there would be a lot more user participation and conversation if this thread was gone. :-)
  5. Hey Clebner, I picked that snowboard up from the shop the last time I was up there. Thanks for offering to grab it for my mom though. She called me because she couldn't remember if I had gotten it or not. How has the snow been the past few weeks? Have you seen any other hardbooters out on the hill?
  6. I'm 25 now. Started riding alpine boards when i was 21, wanted to when i was like 14 or so but couldn't afford to.
  7. Alright, who's going to get out there the 21st and 22nd? I'll be there. Clebner did you steal my board from the Crystal Mountain Mountain Shop for some runs yet? I'm wondering if it will still be there when I get up there this weekend. How are conditions up that way? Get any snow this week?
  8. Oh and Clebner, check out the second page of crystal mountains photo gallery, you might see a descent picture of someone you recognize. http://www.crystalmountain.com/Default.aspx?PageID=1328310&Page=2&A=PhotoGallery&PID=3858&Items=12
  9. I got tired of posting in the old Crystal Mountain thread and figured maybe some of you weren't looking because of the date being old so we'll try this... I'll be up there this coming weekend. Am I going to see any of you on the hill at all?
  10. Hey guys. I saw you out there on Sunday clebner, as if you didn't know that. I would have taken some runs with you but I was running the college course while they let me. Did anyone else make it out this weekend at Crystal? In total between Saturday and Sunday I know of 8 people who were out on hard boots, and one more if you count the person I met on the chairlift that I set up on one my my boards for 7 hours Saturday night(I did my best to bring one more person to this sport). I thought that was a pretty good number for Crystal in one weekend. The snow was great for riding all of Saturday, Sunday morning it was a little too hard for me but it softened up in the afternoon, so it was a great weekend to be on the snow
  11. Warm weather sucks for carving? You have got to be kidding me. I love Carving in warm weather. Its when the boards end up breaking, but as long as I wear something waterproof its a blast. I'll be out there rain or no rain. Its too bad I missed the fresh snow again...
  12. Is anyone planning on being on the hill this coming weekend, the 7th and 8th? I believe I will be able to. I am going to try to hit the hill at open both days so I might cut out early. Pebu, are you going to ever get on the hill this year?
  13. Sorry I missed you guys out there this weekend. How were the conditions? Clebner, was it you I ran into on the hill the weekend before this one?
  14. I get up to Crystal Mountain on most weekends if you find yourself up there give me a heads up and we can do some riding together. During the week you might run into me if you are at Mt.Brighton. At Brighton I work the lifts so if i'm not on the hill riding I might be able to share some thoughts with you from the top or bottom.
  15. I got in on the season pass thing too. So hopefully I'll be the most consistent weekend warrior of all of them, and maybe some extra days too. Pebu if you're willing to hold on to those until i get up to Crystal I'll take them. I need an extra set of bindings. Clebner same goes to you, spare parts are always a plus.
  16. I have some wicked long boots, any chance you know how far they will stretch? I don't think i can pass up $20 either way, but it would be nice to know they will work. Why is it you want to get rid of them?
  17. How much you want for the rat traps? Are they in good enough shape that they would hold together for me?
  18. I'm down in Pinckney again for this season, or maybe up around Crystal if i find work up there for the winter. I'm sure I will be hittin up Crystal a lot this season, I should probably invest in a season pass, but right now I can't really afford one, so we will see. I made it up to Bohemia once last winter, and it was brutal. I'll have to pick my days better if i go back.
  19. Whats the price on the pass this year?
  20. Bordy, I don't doubt that you are full of great information, but I think you set yourself up to be belittled when you took your first response in that thread way beyond answering the question being asked. It was nice of you to give your opinion of burton products and all but then you went on to criticize the riding of other people here on this forum who were only trying to give an example of the board being ridden in a way that some people would consider aggressive. That may not include the professional riders who post here, but to others aggressive is a little more calm. My suggestion is that you read the original post of a thread, and then write your response if you feel like responding. After that go back and read what others have written and if you disagree with what they have to say it will have already shown up in your polite response. You should also realize that an opinion is just that. Some may actually be better than others but unless you are the one asking for the opinion than you shouldn't be commenting on who's is better unless it ties in with your own and it's easy enough to make that clear without questioning other people. I'm not sure if anything i just wrote makes any sense but I hope you do decide to stick around here because I enjoy reading your responses for the most part. Good luck with the new site either way.
  21. Hey, my opinion is that burton ultraprimes and factory primes are great snowboards. I started on an ultraprime about 5 seasons ago. Since then i've ridden a few other ultraprimes, a couple of factory primes, and now i own and ride regularly two different factory primes and a burton speed. During those 5 seasons i had a chance to ride a variety of other high end and low end boards along with the burtons that were mine. im not going to mention which other boards because i don't think that makes a difference. what i found was that i was most comfortable on a burton. the other boards didnt seem to give me the same amount of control as the burtons have. I think the burton boards are a great way to start and i would recommend it. Not only because of the way they ride, but also because of the price you can find them for here. Heck if i had the money i would buy up every burton alpine board i saw for sale over 160 in length. I may not have 25 years on the snow like some of these self proclaimed experts, but those are my honest opinions for you.
  22. Growing up I'd go out for the last day of skiing with a huge group of my cousins all around the same age and we would spend the whole day doing whatever we could that we thought would get our passes pulled, and we didn't leave the hill until that happened...man those were some good times.
  23. haha i know exactly who you're talking about.
  24. which lifty? I don't think there are any i haven't met yet.
