  1. FYI.... Saturday is retro day at blue. Charging 1977 lift ticket prices :) $10! Sunday is Blue's annual pond skimming, starts at 10am. Anyone willing to give it a whirl (or splash)? Also Blue is handing out spring fling coupons with purchase of a lift ticket. The coupon is half off of normal ticket price. I'll try to pick some up tomorrow for anyone who might want on Sunday. You could also just wait by the ticket window in the morning and ask people for their coupon as they walk by. Worst case is if there is more than one in your group, have one person buy a ticket and then use their coupon. Looking forward to a nice spring session. And yes.... metal will change your life :D
  2. I'll be out Sat and Sun both, this is my last weekend to ride at Blue because their closing date is next Saturday. Sunday looks like it might be the better of the two weather wise. Cafercr35, would you like a glass version of 180RCII to go with your metal? I have the inside line on one coming up for sale soon. :D Oh the things metal will make you do. Jesse
  3. BMES 2008 We need to do this quickly.... just heard that Blue is closing on 03-22-08. (unless the weather changes and draws people back out) My vote is for Sunday this weekend, since I will not be able to ride the weekend after and have little vacation time to spare. Any takers? Jesse
  4. Neil, First off, a big thanks for coming out to BC and setting up the course! The only time I've had a chance to run gates is at MAC events. I'm happy that the opportunity does not come up often, because if it did I think I would have the racing bug bad. I look forward to doing some more bashing with you again. The "keep healing" remark was not about myself, but was directed towards someone else. I'll let him comment if he wants.....
  5. Cool, I hope you got a turn or two in for me. I bet with conditions that good the lines must have been insane, I don't feel too bad about missing out. :( The slopes will now have more time to set up for me for the weekend. Keep healing and keep riding! 7 days till go time....... Jesse
  6. Me too!!! I guess I'm not the only one hoping for a little birthday luck at the banquet.
  7. Man that completely sucks. :( First the Madd and now this, I remember seeing you fold the Madd- unbelievable. When I tuned the Pogo last week I noticed a very slight bulge on the base right next to the toeside edge (maybe heelside); approximately 1" long 1/8"wide 1/16"high running perpendicular to the edge. (Toward the middle of the board) I only noticed it when I was hand polishing the edge and the stone skipped. I meant to mention it when I saw you next, but it slipped my mind until now. I don't think it would be connected to the inserts failing, but maybe it was an earlier sign of fatigue..?? On another note: I've ridden with Chubz for a few years now and have to say he RIPS. Very aggressive rider that can really bend a board at will. Impresses me to no end and really has pushed my riding level up a few notches. I'm curious if the TD1s he usually rides might be stressing a board more than current bindings? Stiff binding, heavier (200+ hope this is right), aggressive rider. When I compare the surface area and dampening of the TD1 to the TD2, there is a big difference. I have heard from a few people that some older boards had problems with TD1s, but that most newer boards have beefier inserts. Is there any actual data or experience to support this or disprove it? Chubz- Maybe the wife might go for a new board when she realizes that you have to get new bindings. It would be for the cause: R & D must continue and some expenses have justifications that us mere mortals can barely comprehend. Sorry for your loss, JBS
  8. Joe, Boards to sell no, but boards to try out sure. I have a Madd 158 and Coiler 180 racecarve you can try if you like (try is the word, these babies are not for sale). We could swap for some runs, I have yet to step on any Donek yet . I'm usually out most weekends if you want to give it a spin. Jesse
  9. Chubz, Sounds like you had fun.... It must have been good for you to stay out that long on a holiday day. I was really diggin' Challenge myself on Sunday, I could not get enough of the upper headwall. I overheard people talking about how s****y the conditions were and how it was all boilerplate, it took all I had to keep from giggling. Sucks about Razor, but they must have blown an insane about of snow last night. It was only about 2/3 open yesterday to to bottom. The weather looks promising for the week and I think switchback opens today. See you out soon. Jesse PS.. Now imagine that same tune on a baby Madd!
  10. Keith, Have you guys started this session yet? Haven't heard any word out on the mountain yet. Jesse
  11. I have a pair of SB413 that I purchased in 04 and rode for one season. I have the original liner and a set of thermoflex from the AFs I ride now I might be willing to part with. I see you're in Philly, if you ever ride Blue Mtn. you're more than welcome to check them out. I usually ride every Sat and Sun. E-mail me if you're interested. Jesse
  12. I'm thinking of adding crampons and an ice axe to the quiver for those early morning runs. ;) Then the only thing left for me to do would be to grow a pair and just ride. Chubz; Though the conditions were not quite hero, still had fun trying to throw down a few turns you. It's snowing outside as I type this...... What will the weekend bring? Post conditions report to keep us up to date. Jesse
  13. I was not out today, but I did ride yesterday morning. Conditions are good considering the weather. Expect some ice and a little sugar in the morning, turning softer as the day goes on. It mainly has just drizzled and sleeted a little today, not enough to make a difference. Blue is not 100% open, so it may not be worth the drive. Crowds will be a toss up due to holidays and weather. The more the weather turns (rain), the less people to expect. Have fun!
  14. Today's conditions: Fast, Fast, Grippy Ice! Actually if you were on your A-game it was a blast. Then the sun came out and softened things up quite a bit. I'll be out at 7:30am on Wednesday... Bring an SL stick and be prepared to be fully committed to each turn....
  15. Legs are cooked today, so I decided to take a break. I will be out Monday as long as the rain passes thru. Nice to hear you had a good trip to JH. I hope you took some pictures.
  16. I will be out Thursdays, Friday, at least one weekend day and Monday next week. Opening bell each day (8:30am weekday, 7:30 weekend & holiday). Blue is finally opening more beginner terrain and expert; so the trails should be a little more manageable. Jesse
  17. You better baby that Pogo.... maybe I'll just watch her for you. I'll be out tomorrow morning. Bring the boards and I'll doctor them up for you.
  18. Chubz, You have to have a powder board laying around somewhere. Why I just scraped some storage wax off one last night. :D Have fun and take some pictures, so the folks back home have something to drool over. JBS
  19. Except for the fog that rolled in and out Monday was HERO all the way. The slopes were empty, good groom and snow that you could do no wrong on. Chubz, I have to agree that longboarding helped big time at keeping the cob webs away. I'll be out this weekend for sure; looks like a short warm up this week and then a cold snap again by Friday. Finally I can try the Madd out on some real ice :D ! Jesse
  20. I can't make it Friday, but I will be up early on Saturday and Monday. With all the snow they have been able to make this week they may have more open; I know lazy will be open on Friday. Look for the HBer in gray, probably resting on the side of the trail somewhere.
  21. Friday is not the best night for me, but I'll try make it a couple of times. How long have you ridden at Blue, I'm out every weekend and I don't think we've meet. If you every want to hit some (weekend) early morning groomers you can find me and a couple others making turns at 7:30am. I'm happy to hear Marion is still setting gates! What trail? Raceway? Blue opens the 7th! Jesse
  22. Still seeing snow and safe (somewhat) in PA. It has been one hell of a board; from groomer to trees. It was also my first ride for hardboots and really a great board to learn on. It doesn't see the time on the slopes as it use to; had some additions to the quiver, but still nice for early season and following the 11 year old around. I had thought about passing her on to another beginner, but I just couldn't bring myself to do it. Thanks again, Jesse
  23. Way to go! This mere mortal can only dream. How many turns did you make? And remember, leave something for the snow.
  24. I have a couple you could use to compare it to and maybe a hill or two to boot. Just let me know.... Jesse Very cool looking deck...

    Killington

Kathy, Thanks so much for showing me around Monday. I must admit that this weekend was absolutely fantastic. I would like to thank all the riders and skiers that gave me tours of Killington (Craig, Dan,Dan,the Jill's,Kathy,Amy,Phil and a host of others I can't remember). In one day I rode fast groom, freshies and amazing trees (and I never ride trees, but now I see the light). My last turns of the season were in powder, couldn't ask for more. What a way to end a season... I'll being heading up again next year for sure. Jesse
