Man this sucks! Blue is way too convenient for me, but I did second and third guess myself for getting a pass this year. Well if anyone decides to slum it at Blue and you want someone to ride with let me know. The price increase must have came from the huge terrain expansion, somehow two trails magically appeared on the trail map. How does a trail go from being "a" trail one to being three trails the next? Greg- who is going to give me a hard time now :( Anyone going to ECES this year? Jesse

A last second decision (and a free lift ticket) lead me to Plattekill this past Saturday. All I have to say is this place rocks! I've never heard anyone mention this hill before. Must be the forgotten ugly stepchild of the Catskill's. A little Mom and Pop place, with slow lifts and one mini lodge. I would not recommend Platte for a beginner carver, but if you like step groom check it out. Northface, Plunge, Freefall, Blockbuster and Face are all wide steepish groomers. What fun :D! Great way to finish up the season. I also brought the powder board and did a little exploring. This place would also be a lot of fun on a pow day. Great trees and lot of places to get lost. One thing that I had not run into for quite some time is that they require you to have a leash. So don't forget to bring one. I thought this was strange at first, but after pondering this from the lifts I realized why. There is no run out on this hill. 1,000ft of vert straight to lift. A great rinse and repeat day. Jesse

Thought there might be some carvers out there that also enjoy whitewater (in the summer ). There is a proposal on the table for a whitewater park in Easton PA. The weather looks grim for the next week, but it has been great since January (no January thaw this year). Luckly Blue has plenty of base to last until April. NickG.... Did we meet at MacTracks this year? I'm at Blue most weekends, both Saturday and Sunday mornings. Steeps are something I love and have spent a bit of time riding. If you can ever make it out on a weekend just post up. Chubz is another great source for tips. Tip # 1. Everything happens much faster when the pitch gets steep, which means that when ride them your movements must happen even faster. Have fun and don't be afraid to fall.... Jesse

Good conditions this past Saturday and great on Sunday. Firm cord to start the morning and then scraped to hardpack with sun later on :D! I hope someone is out today making turns before the dreaded "R" starts.

The first two hours on Saturday were not too bad. Upper Main was the place to be, no one was hitting it. My glutes are paying the price today, I need to get back into riding shape.

Its about time. Now we get to find out if the new snow guns make a difference on Main Street! (or if the had some groom training) It will be nice to be back on the snow, though I'll have to drag myself out of the water. What a season!!!! You're welcome! :D As many as we have had in the past they could have all came from my backyard. Good luck getting ride of them, there seems to be no predators for the mighty stink bug. On a good note we have noticed that their numbers are down this year compared to last. And Yes they really do stink.

JP, well I'll be skimming, but it will not be the pond at Blue. My paddling season starts on the Toh this weekend. There is no way I'm going to pass up a 60deg Toh release day. The boards are in storage until the snow starts to fly again. Jesse

Yesterday was a little firm in the morning, but great for the Madd and the crowds started to get a little crazy. Almost bagged it early, but then right at 10 Razor opened. This was the run of the day. I'm not sure how many runs I took, but I hobbled to the parking lot at 12:30 with my legs on fire and a huge smile on my face. Chubz, trust me on this one, take the OD out again and hit Razor. That sucka needs steeps to be happy. Can't wait for ECES. Jesse

I'll be riding early tomorrow and Sunday. I think the SL stick will make an appearance at some point. There will be a race on Razor on Saturday, but should be open on Sunday. Greg, when are you going to bring the OD? or is it too Madd!

Should be sweet tomorrow. Get there early and get your runs in; the crowds are likely to be very heavy this weekend. The "backyard snow effect" will be in full swing.

Office was closed :D, but I did not make it to Blue :(. The good thing is that I had ample snow to make some BC runs. It may only have been 100' vert, but they were pure powder turns. This is a first for me. I was amazed how much snow there was and how much fun Scott and I had. Now bring on the packed powder for this weekend

The hill I spoke of is the one at the entrance to the park. The big pile of snow that keeps the neverevers out. It was just enough to keep people from hitting it first thing, that was until everyone saw my tracks. When I rode the 4807 I mounted the bindings centered since it already has a lot of setback. I don't know if there will be enough snow to warrant it, but we will have to wait and see. It looks like the office will be closed, but I'm not sure how much access people will need from me through out the day. If I think I can make the drive home from the hill tomorrow morning I'll be out. If it is too crazy and we get 18+ I might do a little local hiking close to home. Up for running some shuttle?

Right on!!! Got the pow stick out for a few runs Saturday morning. It was not a massive dump, but 6-8" is a good time. Hit Sidewinder the first few runs while everyone else was too lazy to climb up the hill. Then I spent most of the morning in the bumps. I'm not a bump rider, but it was just too much fun to pass up. The skiers' keep taking the same lines and pushed the snow into the sweetest piles. Now for round # 2 Wednesday. Maybe 4-8" by morning, then up to a foot on top of that as the day wears on. Everytime I check the weather the strom is tracking a little further north. No I have to find out how to close ;) the office tomorrow and then make it to the mountain. Anyone game?

Mr. Smith approves!!!!! :D Ole Blue just does not seem the same after you tackle heart pounding steeps that make your knees weak and your thighs scream by the time you make it to the bottom.

AMEN!!!!! Brother Chubz..... keep spreading the gospel of snow. Powder board and all-mtn setups are waiting to roll tomorrow morning. I predicted that I would have reason to pull out the pow stick twice this year, well this is pow ride # 1. It may only last for a few runs, but the snow hath a strange draw to us riders.
