  1. Indeed when I switched from Deeluxe to UPZ I had to switch from a 3 degree disc to a 6 degree disc for the front foot.
  2. Converse All-Stars, Birkenstocks, Vans, Sketchers, Indoor soccer shoes, boat shoes, sandals, slippers, flats, to name a few. Many sneakers have pretty minimal heel lift, certainly a lot smaller than the total ramp angle of hardboots. Using "flat" bindings only means you like heel lift on both feet. This is not a flat/neutral/default stance. If it works for you then great. Anyway, it is simply a matter of mechanics that using some toe lift on the front foot and heel lift on the back foot allows you to comfortably use a wider stance than without them. Whether this is a good thing or not is up to the individual. I would argue wider is generally better, but only up to the point where your range of motion and leverage are maximized, and not a millimeter wider. Any inward/outward canting is purely dependent on individual body alignment.
  3. A tip for a starting point that Fin used to give was to position everything such that your front foot is in its normal location, and that the front axle of the BP is under the ball of your foot. Of course it may require some adjustment after you try it and get a feel for it. Fortunately you're not drilling holes in anything so this is all part of the fun. See what configuration works best for you.
  4. Hi folks, Please remember the forums in this section are for Equipment Reviews. Fin's original rules above are clear and still stand. Please take questions and gear discussions to Carving Central. All threads in this section should start with a review of a product you have used. Ensuing discussion of that review here is perfectly fine. Thanks!

  9. But all boots have built-in heel lift. In UPZs your foot will still have a small net heel lift with the binding toe lifted 6 degrees. So what you're calling "straight" really isn't. Everyone is different. We have these adjustments at our disposal to fit our equipment to our bodies, not the other way around. Yes, those were not stock at the time.
  10. Yeah, I've been thinking this. @Termin8tor is getting one, he's near me. I'll see if he wants to go in on this project.
  11. Hi Geof, welcome to ASB. That is a big board with a big radius, pretty sure 16m. It was great in its day (2005) but things have gotten better. I'd say get something more middle-of-the-road like a 175 with around a ~13m radius and sell the F2. Check the classifieds here for used boards built within the past 10 years. Donek, Coiler, Prior would be ideal. You are right that the stance isn't right for you and that the school of thought on stance width has changed. You'd have to T-nut that board in order to keep it. I'm 5'11", 31" inseam, and I use a 21" stance on my 175 with toe lift and some inward cant on the front foot, and heel lift and some outward cant on the back foot. There are some articles here you might find helpful: http://alpinesnowboarder.com/tech-articles/ Good luck, let us know how it goes.
  12. Just have to share this one of Olympic gold medalist @nevingalmarini

  14. Let's get it on! Registration is open. Who's in? I'm doing the Sunday River and Sugarloaf alpine races Maine Mountain Series: https://www.usasa.org/regions/new-england/maine-mountain New Hampshire Series: https://www.usasa.org/regions/new-england/new-hampshire Southern Vermont Series: https://www.usasa.org/regions/new-england/southern-vermont Northern Vermont Series: https://www.usasa.org/regions/new-england/northern-vermont
  15. I doubt that very much. Boards bend a lot, way more than 6mm. Have a look at the “Bend it” thread in the Photos forum. Racers angulate and bend their boards too, you can be sure about that. The Allflex plate is designed to flex with the board beyond the 6mm. Actually I don't even see it coming off the board at all in these pics...
  16. As alpine snowboarding articles go, that is brand new!
  17. Buy with confidence from my race teammate Termin8tor!

  19. SUBSCRIBERS: you will be getting two of these in the mail! Thanks for your support!
  20. @Speed cat is a collector, maybe he will be interested. This setup would be useful for a transitional year for a young racer making the jump from softboots. i.e. USASA, NASTAR, etc.
  21. New, bought in 2017, never mounted. US$100 shipped to the 48 states. Compare to $137 plus shipping from UPZ.
  22. Got some TD2 SI's here. PM sent.
  23. Pretty sure the OP is on softboots. Personally I’m not a fan of the seriously stub tail modern powder boards like the Burton Fish, etc. I would not say the Donek Nomad is one of these, seems to be a good balance. I demo’d a Malolo in Jackson Hole and felt like I was about to fall over backwards at any moment. At the time the Malolo had a very short tail. Exchanged it for a Supermodel 168 and felt right at home. Guess I’m old. Winterstick is worth checking out. Sexy real wood tops.

  25. Thanks Nevin! Do you use this boot setup for freecarving as well? Or just racing and training?
