  1. 1. This forum is for discussion of all things Skwal 2. Rules of conduct are the same as in Carving Central Your moderator here is *Ace*.
  2. Well sure, if you're trying to make numbers then the more the merrier. But then you won't have a carvers-only mountain, if that matters.
  3. People who sign up and take advantage of the finite number of discounted tickets and accommodations, who then disappear and don't participate in any of the events or social gatherings, are what I would consider outsiders. Especially if they don't even snowboard. This has happened in the past. An insignificant number of people do this, but to the people who put in all the hard work for many months to organize one of these events, it's not fair, and very frustrating.

    New Logo

Logo swag is coming. Please consider it copyrighted, thanks. Besides, you wouldn't get very far with 442x112 pixels. Let me know what you had in mind, maybe it's something I have planned, or should offer. Glad you like it!
  5. Awesome. Not sure what the question is though? Are you asking about equipment? For this upcoming season it sounds like you should race USASA if you haven’t been.
  6. Instagram is where it's at. Here are some accounts I like: gerald_wintergold - posts a lot of carving pics, our member @WinterGold ryan_knapton - prolific softboot carver and funny guy, our member @RyanKnapton ussnowboardracingteam - USSRT doneksnowboards - manufacturer, supports alpine sgsnowboards - manufacturer, supports alpine fissnowboard - world cup coverage, all disciplines budfawcett - no carving, but a master snowboarding photographer posting his old stuff from the 90s and more

    New Logo

Once he saw it on the site, Steve decided to dress it up a little.

Yup, and hats, base-layer shirts, stickers... Glad you like it.
  9. Thanks once again to graphic designer extraordinaire and fellow carver, Steve Fleck @sfleck for the new logo!
  10. Haven't handled the GTS, but I'd wager it's a bit stiffer, grippier, and more responsive than the old Alp. It'll be better for getting into racing. And it's brand new. If she gets variable conditions she has softboots.
  11. Now that's crazy talk. ? I need 3 alpine boards - short, medium, and long. However with my wife as my riding buddy, who owns one pair of skis for groomers and one pair for powder/spring, I think making more than one board change per day would be gratuitous. I also like getting to know each board intimately.
  12. F2 makes a great product and YYZCanuck provides great service. The GTS looks like a good fit. Probably the 158 if she is still approaching the sport, 163 if she is advanced or aggressive. I agree with you that the 145 is not enough. You should also check out Coiler custom snowboards which is relatively close to you in Oro Medonte. Some of the finest boards in the world, at good prices. On the same level is Donek, but they're in Colorado. Good luck, let us know how it goes.
  13. Perhaps it’s redundant with the custom 172 then. I ride about 50 days a year and I don’t think I’d have time for all those boards!
  14. FC2 179 seems redundant with and obsoleted by the Proteus 180, no? Lucky guy with your choice of lively or damp short and medium boards!
  15. You can use any binding that fits the standard 4x4 insert pattern. If you're looking to learn how to really carve, I'm afraid this board will be too narrow for your boot size when you tilt it up on edge to carve. You'd need to ride very high angles in order to prevent boot-out. I don't recommend that as you lose a lot of leverage in softboots with very high angles. Also it's not good for general freeriding. This board was basically free so I'd recommend unloading it and looking for a used wide board like the Donek Incline Wide, Burton Custom-X Wide, or K2 Fat Bob.
  16. Welcome TR! What's your goal here? BX? Or GS/SL? You did score a sweet deal, although that board will be overpowered by hardboots as soon as you get decent at riding them.

Yeah, I've tried. I have tinnitus already, the volume required to overcome wind noise while riding would make it worse.
  18. Ok so there is some carving happening in that there video. Pretty impressive for what it is.
  19. I can't believe that person still has a job in the industry. The only uglier car on the road is the Prius, and they look related. re: C7 rear end, I don't like the Katy Perry eye makeup around the tail lights, but I dig the four trumpets in the center. Speaking of the ZR-1... oh snap! https://www.autoblog.com/2018/06/03/gm-vp-mark-reuss-crashes-chevy-corvette-zr1-pace-car-ahead-of-in/
  20. Haha. Neil, I'm with you on couped versions of cabriolets. Speaking of BMWs and impractical cars, my neighbor had a brief affair with a 1971 3.0CSI. The body is not galvanized, so it couldn't even be driven in the rain, nevermind all the snow we have for 6 months. It spent those 6 months inside of an inflatable bubble in his garage. The rear seat only had lap seatbelts (or none?) so it was not very responsible to put his kids in it, so it was relegated to slow cruising around town. He paid about $17k for it. I kidded him that for that money he could have had a new Ducati 996 and it would have been more practical.
  21. Or for driving with the top down and windows up. Lame! ? Man I just can't stand the Z3 coupe. Looks like a clown car to me. I heard a rumor that it was intentionally made ugly as an act of defiance by the design team.

Bolero is awesome. Late to the party again, but this past winter I came across Animal Liberation Orchestra, a.k.a. ALO. Nevermind the name, and they're not an orchestra, but they're my new favorite band. Kind of like Phish doing adult contemporary.
  23. Yeah I was conflicted because there is an actual snowboard on his feet. It is weird how he does seem to be going straight between direction changes. And that long slarve around the corner is mind bending. Looks like there is as much hand technique going on here as anything else.
