  1. The brand is G-Style, they’re Japanese. Pretty sure they are a 4 buckle overlap design, as opposed to the 3 piece shell of most other hardboots. I don’t have any info on their sizing, but put your bare foot in the empty shell with your toe touching the end and look behind your heel. You should have 1 to 2 fingers of space back there. More than 2 is too big. Most boots are sized in Mondopoint, which is simply the length of your foot in centimeters.
  2. I have a few if anyone needs. Up to a 50% discount on a day ticket at Perisher, Falls Creek, or Hotham, 2022. PM me.
  3. We have taken care of this as part of our (roughly) quarterly direct racer support made possible by Google ad revenue. Sorry about the scammer, Fragile! Good luck with your racing this winter. All, friendly reminder that AlpineSnowboarder.com is not responsible for transactions in the classifieds, they are private.
  4. @ChouinardI guess I would say that you can make the standard (100) flex boots stiffer with aftermarket tongues and springs, but you can’t make the World Cup (120) boots softer without cutting plastic, and that seems icky to me. Relying on binding flex also doesn’t seem like a good idea to me because then the roll axis is under your foot, instead of naturally at your ankles. Also I’d be nervous about breaking bails.
  5. Sounds like you are crushing your foot to try to eliminate the heel lift that T700s are infamous for with many people. MS or UPZ will cure that. Well worth upgrading for this alone. I am using Intuition (I believe same molding material as Palau) Plug Wrap liners in my MS World Cups. I also liked the stock liners and got about 100 days out of them. The Plug wrap is a thinner "low volume" liner which I need because my foot size is right at the end of the C shell size. This is a great fit for me.
  6. Banned. @Fragile, can you please follow up with Zelle to get your money back? If they are of no help, perhaps we can help you.

    Tennis

I grew up playing then put it away for a long while. Got back into it about 10 years ago and got a Wilson Steam "spin" racquet. The spin effect was profound. Basically just more spacing between strings but it worked. I could hit a slice serve that would exit the side of the court. That was fun. Alas Tennis went dormant again for me a few years later. I'd like it to come back. Who remembers Dave Letterman's Anna Kournikova play of the day? LOL
  8. Got a link? All I can find is what Bob already posted. Just from that picture it looks decidedly low-tech. I'm not getting a carbon composite vibe... more like Azdel... it will probably perform similarly to a Vist-flex. In other words, damp, comfy, but with little rebound and probably heavier than average. Just a guess.
  9. Respectfully, I don't see it that way. I'd say in the majority of his heelsides in that video he is aligned with his bindings. Sometimes he gets behind. He is definitely nowhere near aligning with the nose of the board though.
  10. To my eye and ear these conditions were pretty awesome, and some beautiful carving was on display. Especially by Her Royal Highness, Ester Ledecka.
  11. I've never heard of any race coach recommending negative rotation on heelside, but I have not asked them all. Also true: if the snow is good enough, any competent technique or style works. We east coast peasants were ecstatic at MCC and Whitefish for what a relief the conditions were.
  12. Ehh, that's one way to skin this cat but no, it does not have to be combined with hip rotation. Racers generally avoid this. The goal of race technique, which IMO is the best, is for your hips and shoulders to remain aligned with your binding angles. In other words your bellybutton and chest ideally should be facing your toes, generally speaking. Of course everybody is different and some deviation from this may work better for you. New hardbooters coming from softboots typically rotate sideways towards the toeside edge of the board, especially on heelside. I see that in the OP's video. Often it's not enough to tell these people to face their toes, it just doesn't happen. So a lot of instruction out there (including my own) says to face the nose of the board. It's more effective instruction to get them to stop rotating sideways. Facing the nose of the board is better than facing sideways, but it's not as optimal as aligning with the binding angles.
  13. IMO, this video is the best "textbook" example. World Cup champion and board designer Sigi Grabner.
  14. He’s about 19 years old, let’s cut him some slack!
  15. Hi @MillerLight60, I think the harsh reception is due to the fact that you say you've been hardbooting for 8 years, but, honestly, the video looks like you don't have that much experience. That's ok, everyone has to start somewhere, and maybe you haven't gotten more than a few days on hardboots each year. But the disconnect between your years on snow and what we see in the video is to the point that I think people question whether it's even your video. If you're here to get tips to improve, welcome. There ARE a number of people who can help you. There are also some articles you may find helpful here: http://alpinesnowboarder.com/tech-articles/
  16. 163. 162 is too short. 20.5cm waist, avg 10.5m radius, high camber. Titanal/Carbon/Rubber construction, extra torsional stiffness between the feet.
  17. Precisely, which is why when you are purely carving, there should be no rodeo hand. Ideally. Yes. Happens to the best. Benjamin Karl rides the bull frequently. https://www.instagram.com/reel/Ca4dC5ylGBy/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link https://www.instagram.com/reel/CZrMupIFUyK/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link I think in these freecarving clips he is just cutting loose and enjoying himself, taking a break from the pursuit of perfection. Also a SL board with Allflex Spring Plate has a mind of its own and is a serious handful to manage. (footful?)
  18. Agreed, if you're going to have a 3rd strap, you don't need a rotating highback. However a big issue with most softboot bindings is the flex of the baseplate. With my Burton Genesis X (their stiffest at the time, with 4-hole discs) I could strap the boot in the binding (without me in it) grab the boot cuff by hand and flex it to the point the baseplate of the binding would lift off the board. Put a 3rd strap and locking highback on most bindings and the baseplate will probably break without more reinforcement.
  19. He seems to be emphasizing the slarve (or whatever you call it - stivot, slide-lock, butter, etc) at the beginning of some turns. You only need to do this if there are trees in your very near future, or if you have too much speed coming into a gate or need to make a quick line change. He has plenty of room so maybe he is practicing "ride how you race", assuming he is an active racer. Upper body gets out of sync with his lower body and board sometimes. Some moments of greatness. I like these glimpses of Benjamin Karl freecarving his GS board. True GS boards are beasts, the 21m+ tail is super fast and does NOT want to finish. Your first turn on a GS board will most likely not be a turn but instead just a tip-over straight to your face/ass with the board going basically straight. Feels like riding a 2x8 at first. You really have to wait for speed to build and centrifugal force to develop. But once you figure it out, on the right slope and right conditions there's nothing better.
  20. From June 1, 2021 to May 31, 2022, we have donated $2300 to USSRT and $2300 to USASA. Your subscriptions and classifieds donations make this possible. This supports youth racing and US World Cup/Olympic hopefuls who have very little support from USSA if any. Thank you!! You can also support some of the athletes by patronizing their businesses: Lexi Bullis - https://www.alpinesoapcompany.com/ Cody Winters - https://www.winterswindowwashing.com/ and dad - http://david-winters.squarespace.com/store
