  1. Sheesh, I don't know I could do that on a 150 in any sort of comfort lol Looking forward to it!
  2. What is that on the bottom of your boots? It appears to be some magical boot bottoms for walking across an icy parkinglot!
  3. I probably should have prefaced the post with that I am trying to just focus on technique at the moment because I had some bad and unnecessary movements to provide input into the board. The relaxed riding thread really helped to outline how to go back to basics and do that so I was focusing on those steps. Once I can nail down proper technique, then I will be exploring trying to get the board further on edge and driving it more. But to answer the question posed on falling, yeah I am a bit afraid of falling, especially a pop out of a mid carve fall on steep terrain, so getting to that line may take me a little longer but is something I plan to do. Also, just to note I am in UPZs which is why I have a 6 degree under the front foot currently due to their high ramp. I did feel there was a slight heel hole or vagueness when using just my feet to transition, so I think I am going to take a try with the 3. I also looked and my "slight inward cant" is by about 10 degrees, but I will be sure to pay attention to it as well. I do see what you mean that more of my weight is on the front foot for heelside, so I will work on evening that out next too. Thanks!
  4. For what it is worth, I sometimes will try and force myself to ride close to one side of a wide trail so I can make myself more comfortable with a narrow space, just one side at a time. It helps atleast a little bit, I've been able to better predict how far my board will turn, still working on more controll of it with technique refinement. After I get fundamentals down more solid, I want to focus on riding near obsticals such as lift towers and slow signs, etc, as I feel just as uncomfortable if not more so near them. Then push myself to get close and ride circles around them!
  5. Thanks for the tips and words of encouragement! Yeah, things feel better, and I don't feel as strained as I did on the first day this season. So right now I have a 6 degree can't front foot that is mostly toe lift with some inward cant. I felt like I wanted to try using a 3 degree instead, but didn't want to change too many variables at once. If I am thinking right then switching to the 3 might help to move the "weight" away from the heel and in turn help to even it out? Don't think I'm going to get a chance to get on the hill before MCC so I will bring a 3 with me and see.
  6. How are they at carrying multiple boards? I feel like they would move around a lot inside
  7. Looking for a rolling board bag for air travel. Needs to fit a combination of hardboot and softboot decks, likely up to 4 (I am expecting to be removing bindings). Anyone have anything they don't use anymore?
  8. I am in need of a rolling board bag that will stand up to air travel well, need it for MCC. What do you guys use/ recommend or not recommend? I plan on bringing 3 or 4 boards (2 hardboot decks and 2 softboot decks) so needs the space for the width of a soft and length of a hard. Dividers would be nice, but I do have bomber board bags for the hardboot ones so I could alternate them to keep them from damaging each other.
  9. Yeah, that's June for ya, we were the only car there at lift open, and these videos were taken shortly after lunch at 1:30 or 2, and there's still groomers lol. Was definitely a great day on the mountain.
  10. New update. I've gotten a couple days on the snow this season now, and the last time I was out I focused on some of the advice on the relaxed carving thread. I also found my canting was a bit outward which was not helping me any. Here is a video of a bit later in the day on a decently pitched green run. I feel I am doing less twisting than before on heel side. My gf and her friend did an all day lesson (softboots) and one of the things the instructor had them do was to take their forward arm and grab their opposite shoulder, and rear arm to the small of their back. I found doing this the opposite way for a directional hardboot stance helped with the counter rotation and to keep me facing the nose of the board.
  11. I use the crab grab "Scromper", works well enough, and I wanted something a bit thin at the time. Supposed to work as a scraper for your boot, sometimes the sierra cement we get is a bit much for it though. Thinking about switching to something like that shark teeth for more surface area, and the spikes should clear snow well still I imagine.
  12. And just to check I am understanding (I think its all clicking), this should be almost the norm, probably more of a relaxed posture though, and just using my feet to initiate, keeping the rest of the body still, though relaxed, not tense and rigid. This posture should have my shoulders square with the board? Should I be focusing on keeping my hips there too or should they follow (or is it vise versa?) Subsequent steps would then be to slowly introduce more and less knee flexion and articulation (ie the "pencil pinch") to vary the angulation of the board.
  13. Wow, this thread has a lot of good information in it, I wish there was a way to bookmark a thread. Some of these have put a lot into prospective for me. I can say I was an expert beginner for a bit and am now trying to work out of that and figure out how to relearn properly. I know what it looks like, but I have been having difficulty trying to figure out how to emulate that on my own. @Beckmann AG, it sounds like you are suggesting to take a comfortable, milder slope such as a green or easy blue and focus on eliminating inputs, and the key is to go slow. From my understanding, this should have the outcome of starting to develop the relaxed carving (which I too am after) as well as help to unlearn the bad habits I have developed to muscle memory over the years. Additionally, start by focusing on the feet/ankles as initiating the input and let the COM follow. I hope to try this out next week!
  14. Love the tape with name on helmet idea. Would love to also see your forum name there too! Should have a few rolls of tape and sharpies at whatever tent meeting place we have at the bottom (is there one?)
  15. Definitely interested in joining the group buy! Upz 2 spring
  16. I had knee pain due to improper lift/ cant. It sounds like you are on the path of evaluating this and angles which when done can make a huge difference.
  17. CA: June Mountain is above all others. Mammoth and Heavenly are definitely up there too, Kirkwood wasn't bad but prefer the others personally. Don't think I've been to Northstar. Utah: Solitude
  18. Headed up on Sunday and Monday morning. Anyone around?
  19. Not entirely sure on its market price right now, but hoping to find something around 750 if possible. Open to negotiations though!
  20. OK, cool I did not realize there was a mid mountain offload, that eases my concerns a little bit!
