  1. And then there was one... Anyone interested in Cascades? I believe we have until October 1st (can someone chime in to confirm please!) so a few days left.
  2. Picked up a pair of Dalbello CRX of ebay for $50! They are NOS and only have cosmetic blemishes. Fit pretty much exactly like my HSP's but prefer the flex of these. Was planning on BTS'ing these like BlueB but I think the Carve and Ski modes will provide enough options for now. Have about 1cm more length on the sole so we'll see how that works. The buckles seem better quality than the HSP's too but otherwise the shell is identical...and these are 1997 stock! Crazy that Head is/was using this mold still.
  3. Not sure, but Dacre Heights that closed down a while back might still have their lift...oh wait, I believe it was a double?
  4. Oooh, racy...what are her dimensions? Bust, waist, hips?
  5. Ya, it's best to get out there and just try a couple. You'll know pretty quickly if the geometry is okay. Remember to, if it's a close fit/call, you can change stem length/rise, handlebar sweep/width/rise and move saddle backwards/forwards in small increments (be careful with this b/c you don't want a bad pedaling position). However, maybe start to look for something with a bit more slack geometry...like a 68* or 69* head tube angle for starters. Some companies like Cannondale have adjustable angles (using three shock positions to change head angle). I find 68-69* a good compromise between xc and all mountain freeride. However, as you probably know too, other factors like fork travel with affect geometry. -I know a few people on kona's. Coil-air/dawg great place to start -rocky mountain slayer: either standard or sxc -giant trance
  6. never heard that one before...wait a second..."not yet" eh?
  7. read through this thread http://www.bomberonline.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=33546&highlight=UPZ Also just use the search function and type "UPZ" or "Deeluxe" etc. Boot fitting can be a pain so be patient and get ready for something not to fit despite certain claims. While you may have certain feet characteristics like narrow heel and wider than normal forefoot factors like high or low arches can drastically affect volume and fit and similarly whether or not you pronate (when foot weighted or your gait while walking/running there's inward movement which can also elongate foot thereby affecting fit...in this case orthotics or something along the lines of Superfeet foot support is critical)
  8. Hey B, are you skwalin' with your Dalbello's or are you in Head's now? From the pics it looks like Head buckles... (I recognize the Head's are like CarveX/CRX and are the same shell minus din soles...just picked up a pair of CRX Freeride's cheap too). Anyway, great pics above! I have yet to try a skwal but is on my list...:D
  9. Just for clarification, when you say "they are wider..." are you referring to the CRX's or SB's? Thanks.
  10. Great vid...still looks like lots of snow there and a fun mountain. What's the vert there? Little bit of dubstep in there too for good measure, nice touch. Who is that anyway?
  11. Yup, it's my understanding as well that the majority of boards in the last few years all have wood cores (in the past it was foam or wood). Either metal or fiberglass is used in combination to achieve desired rebound and flex characteristics. The metal aka titanal sandwiches the core giving it certain characteristics and glass can be added as well. From what I gather (someone correct me if I'm off here) glass boards generally have...not necessarily more "pop" but a different "pop" where it's a little less "controlled" for lack of a better term (compared to metal that has a more uniform rebound and provides a component of dampening). Again, someone chime in to set this straight as this is my best explanation from what info I've gathered.

    Tuning

^ Ah, makes sense. Thanks for clarification. For those who home tune and have got professional tunes (not run-of-the-mill $30 tunes), have you noticed a difference, a significant-worth-the-expense difference between professional tunes and doing it yourself? In the past I've always done tuning myself and seems hard to justify spending a certain amount of money. However, just really curious if you notice the characteristics of your board changing for the better and/or longevity of tune...ie how long it lasts (acknowledging the latter is dependent on snow conditions, bases etc).

    Tuning

Erm, what's a wax bag? Never heard of this. Is it for a gradual cool down? Interesting indeed...
  14. Wah, that was tense! Good rider...but what a bonehead
  15. I've always wondered about not having a tailgunner. In the past I've seen some patrollers ripping it down the mountain with no one in behind. At least having someone behind would presumably regulate your speed a little better and be a little safer for everyone, no? And wicked pic of BDD!
  16. The board appears to have sold a couple years back...look up a couple posts. Hang in there though, I'm sure something will come up for ya.
  17. okay, thanks for the quick response! That's too bad.
  18. Anyone (BlueB?) know whether or not the HSP toe and heel pieces can be used with older Dalbello CRX Freeride's?
  19. Glad to hear you're alright. It looks like it's the eastern...or pacific coast that was affected eh? So Hokkaido was fairly isolated from the major hit? This is just devastating and sad as this continues to unravel...:( I'll take the rest of my comments to the OT... H

  21. I was wondering the same...posted in the "corduroy in Japan" thread though. The footage is eerie. Thoughts are with all you there...
  22. Sorry a little off topic here but wah, you guys in Japan okay from the earthquake? Don't know where you are exactly...if power is on or have communications. Apparently they've shut down a few nuclear power plants as a precaution so many have no power. Hope all is well given the situation...
  23. Maybe look for an older demo pair of skis too...usually have the "newer" track type so adjustment is easy but can be picked up for dirt cheap compared to skis/binding combo's the last couple years. Good to see you're getting the little one out to enjoy the snow! Seems like they all have so much fun sliding around.
  24. I would say yes...to a point...so long as they aren't indemnified and the existing holes don't interfere with the binding you're putting on there. Perhaps look for an older pair of bindings (check the indemnified list!) for simplicity that don't have all the riser/track m'jigs (although would be nice for ease of adjustment later on) with them and make sure the shop will do the job. I'm sure there are techs that wouldn't want to touch that but at the same time, I've worked with some that wouldn't give a hoot. Or do it yourself
  25. Wow....sue?...really? There are hazards all over the mountain...including him swinging his pole around at everyone there. This guy was obviously off his rocker a little. It's so easy to get angry back at him but it was great everyone standing around watching him make a fool of himself. Did he complain to management at all? Cripes...
