  1. Brian, as others have mentioned, it will be hard for your reader to relate to our sport, unless they are participants. Consider, most freestyle and park snowboarders often can't appreciate the dedication and passion we have for our sport or it would be growing at an ever increasing rate. I personally had been racing motorcycles for years when I entered college and I tried to write an essay (such as yours) on the thrill of racing and unfortunately, my professor said I failed to engage and educate the reader well enough on the basics of motorcycling, prior to describing the thrills of racing. So, it may be advantageous for you to initially consider yourself a sort of a teacher or salesman on the thrill of snowboarding, the basics of riding and the obvious differences between boards (length and width basics) prior to mentioning Kessler. Only after you've laid the groundwork can your reader begin to understand a description of the intensity of each stage and transitional aspect of a turn. And only then, can you delve into the complexities of why you feel the Kessler to be a superior ride. Otherwise, your technical jargon will probably bewilder your reader and have them skimming for grammatical and spelling errors, rather than enjoying and rewarding your work accordingly. Hope this helps! Good Luck! James
  2. Things are starting to get interesting at Lovey! Won't be long now!
  3. A couple drops of blue Loctite in his coffee tomorrow, might get the point across!
  4. Chris, Prayers and condolences to you and your's. When I met Meg at Loveland last month at our after-riding 'skeller session, she seemed like such a sweet and wonderful person and you both seemed so happy. Truly saddened for your loss. Please come join us again next season. Nice thing about this group... you're never alone. God bless you, my friend. James
  5. +3 for Sunday Doc said I should be ready to go and I'll have Juwan and Charles in tow! Looking forward to a great Closing Day with the LCI! See the rest of you hooligans there! James
  6. What a great day! Usual LCI hooligans, over 12" of fresh powder, waist deep in the trees and I brought a 180 GS... Oh well, at leasr it was windy... And yes, the GS was fun in all but the deepest, heaviest chop!
  7. Have a GREAT BIRTHDAY, Lil Man! James
  8. CONGRATS to Karver Kai!
  9. I'll be there, with Juwan in tow... How about the rest of you hooligans?
  10. FROM THE LOVEY WEBSITE: Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th, 2013 Free Family Race Day "Join us as the Loveland Race Club hosts a free Family Race Day in support of Subaru's Master the Mountain. The race will take place on Firecut off Chair 2 from 10am - 2pm and will be open to skiers and snowboards of all ages and abilities. Come out and race each other for bragging rights. The race is free and open to everyone. Just sign up the morning of on the Basin Patio or at the top of the course." Not sure which day. Could be both, but I think they are usually held on Saturday. Sounds like FUN!
  11. Charles, I'm driving up solo Sunday. If you want to ride along, let me know. Call or text - Three Oh Three, 6 Six Seven, Three 1 Oh Eight James
  12. Out for tomorrow... Ankle needs a little more time to heal... See you hooligans next week! James
  13. Boundary Pole: 1 Dusty Bottle: -5 Or, the “net” incident Breakfast at McDonalds $5.00… Fuel for the round trip to Loveland for a sunny day of groomer carving $25.00... Becoming lazy, over-shooting a turn and attempting to slide under the boundary rope (separating the groomer from the terrain park) and crashing squarely into the base of a boundary pole, flipping over and landing in a heap, all happening directly under a very slow lift, while a dozen of your best carving buddies look on, wince and yell, "Holy Crap!", "Ow, Ow, Ow!" and "THAT'S gonna leave a mark!" - PRICELESS! I became a victim of complacency on Sunday. Instead of looking ahead and staying aware of my surroundings (as I usually am, due to years of m/c racing), I was having too much fun and took for granted I was further down the run and had passed the end of the boundary rope. I don't know what materials are used in those little poles, but there is zero give at ground level. The aftermath could've been much worse, as I only suffered a sprained ankle (would've snapped in softies), twisted knee, bruised hip and a sore shoulder and neck, most of which I discovered the next morning. Fortunately, no equipment damage, just body parts that should heal quickly. Moral of the story? Stay far, far away from the terrain park! Seriously, though… As others have mentioned here, we are riding some of the fastest equipment on the mountain, most built only to go faster and turn harder than last year’s models, so we have to be mentally prepared to handle anything or anyone down or cross-slope. ‘Nuff said... I got lucky… I’ll be back next Sunday! On lighter notes: Paul and Cody - it was great meeting you and having Out-o-Towner’s to carve with! Cody was seriously rippin' that hard boot setup after only a couple of days! Thanks again for the recovery libation Paul, it took the edge off the pain and maybe a little of the embarrassment, too! Just remember, it's never too early to start planning your return trip, although I won’t volunteer for a repeat near-park performance! Kai, you we’re really looking smooth on the “99”! Hope to see you and Dad next weekend! Duuuuuuuude! Welcome back! You've been missed! Hope to see you soon! Good Times and Good Friends! James
  14. The Burton toe bails have a bad habit of breaking and sometimes shattering the plastic clip, due to age and fatigue, often at the wrong time. A couple of years ago, I was lucky and shattered one, while adjusting to my boots on the work bench, rather than laid over in a turn. I advise to either visit the Bomber Store for a new set of Ibex toe bails (exact replacement w/larger diameter bail) or better yet, buy a set of TD3's and stop worrying altogether. Good Luck! James
  15. As for Vail, if you get to the back bowls, China Bowl was a lot of wide-open fun, last time we were there. Also, take a break or lunch at the Two Elk Lodge. It's a monster eatery! Almost forgot the Grand Review Run back in Blue Sky Basin. See you Sunday! James
