  1. I would love the Virus, but I can't buy anymore boards this year :(
  2. Sorry Ti, I totally missed this post. I am the only 'local' that actually lives within 45 minutes of the hill. The other local is Mike Rauch, but he is about 3 hours away. Send me an email if you come back out and I will try to make it up with you.
  3. I am a big heavier than you and started with hard boots last year. I bought a 179 4WD and have recently acquired a Steepwater Steep 171. I would recommend a shorter board with a 23-24 cm waist to allow for shallow binding angles, depending on boot size. I should have bought a Prior ATV 171 (23.5" waist) to start with as the 55/50 angles (zero overhang) on my 4WD are harder to ride so far. I have dropped them to 45/40 with minimal overhang to make it easier.
  4. I am not home, but my wife said that the COD arrived at my house today. Have fun with them.
  5. Why don't you: - buy all 3 sets of boots in your size - try them on with a good bootfitter to see which one fits your foot the best - keep the best one - send the other 2 back for a refund You will only be out the shipping cost, which is probably quite minimal compared to the cost of buying the wrong boot, being in pain, and having to buy another set of boots. I am still confused if you are tight in the toe box in width or in length???
  6. What about something other than Burton??? F2 SnowPro Bomber Ibex All available in less than a week.
  7. Time to buy new stuff finally? I can't imagine that there are many Burton pairs left and those that have them won't be giving them up.
  8. It might be a bit narrow for learning. I am still learning and even find a 21.5" board narrow for me. Hello Steepwater Steep 171 :) that should help me out a bit more.

    Prior MFR 168

Board specs http://www.priorsnowboards.com/boards_mfr.php I have a 168w, it is wicked to ride!
  11. He lives in Ottawa. Shipping would be about $40 on Greyhound. That is what it cost me to ship a board from Kamloops to Calgary. It was there <12 hours later.
  12. These boots just keep getting better. I switched to TD3 step-ins with Fintec heels. http://www.bomberonline.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=33508
  13. I got them all dialed in last night on the carpet and there seems to be no issues with flex at all, feels similar to the SnowPro to my untrained eye/feet. The UPZ boots has a BTS style spring mech. on them and when locked in to 'race-mode', I can flex them right over. I also had the plates turned the wrong way to allow the degree numbers to be viewed with the dial, but due to the short sole it really doesn't make much difference as the entire binding has to come apart to make changes any way. I messed with the canting quite a bit until I had no knee pain while standing in a neutral riding position. For the numbers folks: Front 45 degree - plate 3.00 lift - e-ring set at 90 degrees to the centerline of the board 0.00 cant - e-ring set at 90 degrees to the centerline of the board <1 cm overhang on the toe edge, slightly more on heel but it is 3" higher on the boot Rear 40 degree - plate 2.30 lift - e-ring set at 80 degrees to the centerline of the board 1.93 cant - e-ring set at 90 degrees to the centerline of the board <1 cm overhang on the toe edge, slightly more on heel but it is 3" higher on the boot
  14. I have a 3 degree disk, but shipping from Canada would be cost prohibitive.
  15. I agree. Once I had the liners molded to my feet to relieve some pressure points (due to my feet, not boots) they were like slippers. I love wearing them!

    steepwater on ebay

I am waiting until the end of the season, stop looking at it! I did get some new BX boot for $55 yesterday though.
  17. Or they have no edges left to sharpen
  18. Fin, please adjust the disclaimer that I wrote above as you see fit. Thanks for making the high quality equipment:1luvu:
  19. I purchased Bomber TD3 Step-in bindings with Fintec heels from YYZCanuck.com for use with my 09/10 UPZ RC10 MP26.0 boots. Andrea was extremely helpful and it was great to have someone in Canada to speak to, their customer service is fantastic and I hope to purchase more items from her again. **Please note that Bomber Industries, Fin, or YYZKCanuck DO NOT support the use of UPZ boots with TD3 Step-in bindings or Fintec heels due to the lack of t-nuts on the heel and removable toe piece of the UPZ boot. Should I have an issue regarding warranty it may not be covered and any possible injury due to using this combination will be all my fault** :D Now back to business...The heels fit as designed and as the boots already had t-nuts installed from my last step-in bindings there were no issues there. I used the black bolts provided with the heels for installation. The bindings took a bit more time due o the short heel of the boot. Nothing that is a real concern to me as I will be keeping these bindings on a single board for the time being. I would like to pickup a Prior ATV (or comparable board) later this year with a pair of Deeluxe Track 325 boots for more of an all-mountain flexible setup. The bindings will work just as designed if I go with this setup and the boots fit my feet. Nice box Open the box Fintec heel instructions TD3 instructions Fintec heels 3 degree cant disks and yellow e-rings More stuff T-Nuts Heels installed Complete boot with release cable through upper body slot of boot It took a bit to get the boots centered on the board within the bindings. I set the angles to 45/40 and will adjust the lift/cant later. The angles will give me just about 3/8" of overhang on both sides of each boot. This is where that ATV would come in... The Prior 4WD 179 fits into this F2 bag that Andrea also sold me. This will keep me from cleaning the board of road grime after I get home. I obviously haven't ridden the setup, but I am expecting nothing but awesome results. If the UPZ toes rip off the heels will keep me in place until I stop.
  20. I used GNU Mutant bindings which are pretty stiff and easy to get into. I hate sitting on the snow, but my boots are the stiffest part of the package. I have the Deeluxe softboot carving boots from Hardbooter.com, but they are just a little too small for me so I will be looking for a MP26.5 pair of stiff softboots. Preferably with the hard plastic ribs for support. Basically any BX boot should do as long as it is the stiffest one you can find. The Deeluxe ones I have carve really hard with minimal pressure. No issues in powder with flex either, but I weight 215lbs and can force almost anything.
  21. I have been riding 19.75" stance for years; hard or soft. Centered on inserts, which is usually 1" back on the effective edge. But I like Sean's logic "Being the obsessive engineer I am, I always ride the center of the insert pack because that's the way I engineered it." Shouldn't that mean that the asym boards should make a come back?
  22. I think that there are 2 sizes of SnowPro bindings. The Large ones would fit for sure, the Medium probably not.
  23. They provide more lateral flex than the Bomber bindings, which can be better for an all-mountain setup, new hardboot riders or for lighter riders. The provide full range of motion: toe lift, heel lift, canting, and an easy release system without pulling up your pant legs. Heels fit Burton, Deeluxe, Head, UPZ. http://www.upzboots.com/bindings.html
  24. I am a US size 9 in regular shoes and I wear a MP26 boot, which is a US size 8 for most manufacturers. However, if you get 24.5, then you should be looking for MP24 boots. Make sure you aren't pushing your heel into the wall to hard so you aren't getting a false reading. I went to a sports store and had them measure my foot using the big chrome foot measuring tool. It uses MP sizing.
