  1. I like my UPZ boots very much after a trip to the boot fitter. The shells spent some time in the oven, EVA foam on my feet, and some heavy duty cranking of the buckles. They feel like slippers now.
  2. I am not a fan of Ship Happens, they will give your stuff to anyone as long as you tell them a name. Package Express makes you show ID and you can setup others to pickup your stuff online. Not on the list, you don't get it. I have a 17-day old daughter keeping us busy so far, but let me know and we can hook up. I will be the guy in the yellow pants going very fast and then sliding on his back for 50m trying to slow down:eek:
  3. I will see what I can do this winter/spring Boris. I would bring all my gear and maybe we will be able to work something out. That would throw them for a loop if someone comes up and asks for a hardboot lesson :)
  4. Or buy a nice used board on here and have it shipped to Sumas at www.packageexpress.com. I use them all the time. There are a couple of nice boards in the classifieds and you could get 2 or 3 for the price of a new FLC :)
  5. Maybe I will see you on the mountain. Let me know when you are heading up and we can mount your bindings to my 179 4WD and you can take it for a rip. I would love to try out a FLC:1luvu: edit: If you go to the Prior factory and take the tour, you will get an additional 10% off of retail and no shipping. I did this last March and got an in-stock board for just over $700. I like the green topsheet out of all the FLC graphics, but they will put any topsheet on any board if you just ask. No extra charge for topsheets that are in stock. I love the black tusk and red salmon heads, but you need a wide board to get the full image. My friend just got a MFR with the autumn maple leafs and it looks really nice too.
  6. What if someone comes down to Cypress and would like a lesson in hardboots? You never know when I might have some spare time in Vancouver and I could use some instruction. Can you teach me then??
  7. Check the classifieds forum ;) http://www.bomberonline.com/vbulletin/forumdisplay.php?f=33 I think that there are a couple of MP26 boots in there now.
  8. Straps to hold the bails down? I had a single last year on my front foot, but have since switched to stepins and no issues now.
  9. I have UPZ MP26 boots and I run 50/47 degree on my 179 4WD with zero overhang, but this is the lowest I can go. I use it on nicely groomed days or ice. I also have a 25.5 BX board for use with soft boots, with 21/12 angles, but I still have overhang. I would also like to get a 167 ATV for everyday riding to use with hard boots. If I get one of these, more than likely the 4WD will be sold, unless I can figured out how to ride it better. I just need more time on the mountain...
  10. I haven't had a chance to try them yet, I have been trying to get the hard boots dialed in. I have also ordered a set if GNU Mutant bindings. Similar to the Flows, but easier to get. and...my daughter was born on Satuday, so it might be a few more weeks before I get up to the hill.
  11. Mine were just like that. I changed the footbeds and went to a boot fitter. 30 minutes and $15 later they fit and feel like slippers. Before I went I was on the first notch on each buckle with the 3rd buckle not done up. Now I am (in order from bottom to top) using 2,3,2,4,3 on both boots and they feel great. I suggest you give that a try first. These are much better boots than the Burtons I was using last year. And getting the liner out is super easy once you fold the tongue of the boot out of the way behind the cuff plastic. You can put the liner on first, they step in and flex the liner back. No issues at all. I think I will get a thermo wrap liner for next year and see how they feel.
  12. The weird part was what she does with each hand, being left handed and throwing with her right. Just struck me as odd.
  13. I am going to teach my friend the basics in a couple of weeks. She came over and tried her new gear (my old stuff) on the carpet. I had the bindings set to 15/-15 just to get an idea of where she could be. I showed her the basics of how to stand and the reason behind the duck stance, which she had used once before. We figured out her dominant foot and she is regular, which is weird b/c she is left handed, bats left, but throws with her right. By the end of my 5 minute carpet lesson, we had moved the bindings to 15/0. I am sure once we get on the hill, we will move them more to 15/6 or 18/6 as she has no interest in going backwards or jumping. She did like my hard boot gear though
  14. That makes them $23.75 each ;) I don't think that $50/foot is that bad myself and will be getting new ones. Hopefully the OP can find some used ones.
  15. I believe that those are 2 separate things. The ski DIN adapter will work with DIN ski bindings and snowboard bindings. The tour adapters will work with touring ski bindings and snowboard bindings. FYI, they are $95 from http://upzboots.com/pricelist.html
  16. I have no idea, but I am sure Dan Yoja could tell you. The shells look identical in the pictures. Maybe the springs on the rear are different too. I would guess UPZ would use the same mold for both boots, possibly with a softer plastic for the ATB. I wouldn't bet on it though. I would wager that it is the tongue, the springs, the 4 buckles, and possibly the sole that make it softer.
  17. The UPZ tongues are rated as such: Grey - 140 flex Black - 120 flex Red - 100 flex They are about $100 for a set over here, sure it would be comparable in Europe. I am a new alpine rider as well and my first time in hardboots was painful. My angles were much too low and I was trying to turn the board like a softboot board. Leaning backwards and forwards. I have since switched to a 50/47 stance and initiate turns by leaning sideways in my boots to turn the board on edge. This seems to be working much better. I wish I had carver's to follow and learn from...but alas, I am the only one on my mountain.
  18. You can make your own. Get a used set of RC10 boots from BOL, get a red (soft) 4 buckle tongue. Install and reposition the lower buckles. The RC10 shell even has an X on them where to drill to mount only 2 lower buckles. You would have to fill the holes, but nothing a little silicone couldn't do.
  19. You could try the UPZ ATB. They have 4 buckles and come with the soft tongues to start with.
  20. I have since changed the settings on the bindings to try and get rid of my front leg burn. If both legs burn that is good, but just the front means something must be off. F - 50 degrees with 0 degrees inward cant, no heel lift, full height toe pad. R - 47 degrees with 3 degrees inward cant, no heel lift, low height toe pad. This should force a bit more weight back to the rear leg. I also centered the bindings on the board's effective edge to see what kind of feel that gives.
  21. I fixed my feet problems with a set of better footbeds and a trip to a bootfitter. I had pain on the sides from using improper footbeds with too much arch lift for my low arch feet. The bootfitter also helped with me cranking down the buckles too much. There is no need to do this.
  22. 7cm of new yesterday, 27cm of new today. It is dumping right now and looks to be a great coupe of weeks before the vacation rush of Christmas and New Years sets in.
