  7. Does anyone know (for sure) the tradeoffs between: 1) Longer -vs- shorter board 2) Wider -vs- narrower board 3) Longer -vs- shorter sidecut radius 4) Stiffer -vs- softer board
  8. As I watch these videos I notice that virtually all of them put a hand and/or forearm down on every turn. I have long taught myself to not put an hand down because 1) I don't want a dislocated finger, wrist or shoulder and 2) I don't want to rip up my clothing. However, to get anywhere near as low as these riders is it a forgone conclusion that you must put a hand down on toeside and heelside? When I watch the hardbooters I admire most, the best ones just barely put a hand down occasionally. One HB in particular appears to have a magnetic repulsion between his hand & the slope. The closer his hand gets, the repulsive force seems to increase as the inverse square law.
  9. Just ordered and received my new Nidecker Supermatics. They were released Monday 10/10. I tried to order directly from Nidecker but they sold out. I ordered from Geiger's in Cleveland and received them on Friday 10/14. Unfortunately, they sent me two right bindings. I called them and another customer in Florida received two left bindings. So we're both sending them back so they can make 2 pairs. They look pretty slick but they are definitely heavy. Maybe 50% more than my Flow NX2-GTs.
  10. My new Donek Flux. My riding buddy got one nearly identical except he is "Sine" and his graphics are mirrored.

    Video editing

Does anyone know of a good way for the front rider to have the camera viewing the rear rider and be able to track him without seeing him?

    Video editing

Thanks for the advice. In the end I think the only real audience will be the 2 people in the videos (my buddy & me) so making it too long shouldn't be a problem. If I want the video only for myself, do I need to worry about music copywrite? Also, If I don't think this will be an ongoing skill I want to perfect, would I be better off sending the files to a videographer and paying them $50/hour to make a video for us?
  13. Neil - good luck on your hip replacement. As an inspiration a riding buddy of mine (Arne here on alpinesnowboarder) is 70 years old, has 2x fake knees and 2x fake hips and carves beautifully. A bigger problem for him was a dislocated shoulder early last season that kept him off the snow for most of the rest of the season.

    Video editing

My buddy & I have many hours of GoPro videos chasing each other down the mountain. I think this perspective is called "tailgunning" but that's a misnomer. The tailgunner is the guy in the back of the bomber facing backward shooting at the attacker. This is more like pursuit video. Anyway I'd like to edit these down into more watchable video. I have no editing experience. It appears there are lots of free desktop computer editing software packages. Is it really just as easy as downloading the software and starting to play with it? Is it best to select some music first and pair the video with it or vice-versa? Any suggestions on the best (easiest) editing software? Thanks

    Summer Vacation

I'm not a motorcycle rider but we did see quite a few groups of riders. It looks like a spectacular way to see the country. Lots of bridges and little towns.

    Summer Vacation

Looks very nice. I had no idea. Looks very clean. Is it expensive? We did a Viking ocean cruise from London up north to the northern tip of Norway and then back south along the coast of Norway. Also very pretty, neat & tidy. Norway is very beautiful. Also, we had very good weather. We were above the Arctic Circle on the solstice (sun never set). We stopped for a few days in Iceland. Also nice but more touristy than Norway.
  17. I've never heard of this but it is AMAZING!!!! They're always on their heelside. They way the kite attaches maybe it's impossible to do a toeside. Any idea where this was filmed? Amazing that I've never heard of it but there are so many expert riders.
  18. The Propel Endeavor Pro says that it has 3000W motors. My ebike is only 250W. Am I reading this correctly?: 2x6374 motors/ Each motor has a maximum theoretical output of 3000w That's like 8 horsepower!
  19. As others have said: Ajax, Aspen Highlands and Snowmass are much larger and have much more variety than Buttermilk. Buttermilk is primarily greens & blues. However the grooming at Buttermilk is as good as it gets and most of the other slope sliders there are beginner/intermediate and very little concern about being overtaken by a straightliner. I love Buttermilk.
  20. A friend of mine just ordered a Propel Endeavor Pro all terrain motorized skateboard. I don't know if he has ridden it yet. Do any of you know how it compares to OneWheel?

    Yo Lci!!

Yesterday - final day of the season, final run of the day. Arne joined us (on skis). Good to see him out again after a long recovery from rotator cuff surgery. Still a bit wintry up there. About 3" new in the parking lot. Maybe 5" - 8" in previous 24 hours. Snow conditions were good but a bit soft. Not cold, maybe 30 degrees in the lot on arrival. Visibility up top was OK to poor throughout the day (typical for us this season). Snow was getting beat up & tracked out which wore us out. We quit around noon. Some sections of great turns but not the best day. Spent most of the day on Ptarmigan and #6. Finding lesser tracked slopes took precedence over crowd avoidance. We figure that we got in about 17 days with an average of about 15 runs per day. Our mid-week passes were about $360 so each run cost about $1.50. What a bargain! It was the end of a very good season for us despite meager snow cover. We had many "best days". We're getting caught between the rising slope of improved ability and the declining slope of age. It is fun to be able to get better at something at this age but eventually age will win. Arne - heal up completely and we hope to see more of you next season.

    Yo Lci!!

We coined a new phrase on the lift yesterday: "Faith Carving". The visibility is pretty bad so you can't see but you rely on faith that you know the slope well enough and that it is groomed so you go ahead and carve based on "faith".

    Yo Lci!!

Pretty good day again yesterday. Snow was pretty good but disappearing rapidly. Visibility went from pretty good to not so good. Got in 18 runs on Firebowl, Bennet's, Dueces, Roulette & Keno. 9AM to 1:15 or so. Our legs were fried. They're setting up for a banked slalom on Firebowl (skier's left) for Saturday 5/7. Hope they get some new snow soon!
