  1. Simple answer is yes, with a custom footbed.
  2. I had the same problem as you. Ankle bone of the rear leg hurt. Slim Ankle! Adding more zipfit material does NOT help. Instead, adding a standardbutterfly or a half-butterfly (i.e. a reverse U-shape) shim pad helps. And you may need to remove some zipfit material by doing so.
  3. bigwavedave, you are not the only one here preferring softer forward flex. Me too! Thanks for posting your surgery done to the liner. I will most likely do as well. I dont understand why your liner is not "full lace up" version. Could you show a photo of the front?

  5. I just find that I have a pair of used Zipfit Gara 295 (race model) in my store room. The length is about 30.3cm for its bottom, 30.8cm for its heel. It could fit a 28.5 D700 shell but probably not a 27.5. Message me if you want it cheap.
  6. D700 27mondo uses zipfit-275. Model depends on your feet volume. I suggest choose based on your BMI (body mass index).
  7. Grinding the boot board (or making a thinner one) is an option, if you use MS951. D700 has quite big volume, so I think the liner is the problem. I suggest Zipfit which you can take away material above the instep.
  8. Gara with leather cuff did stiffen the boots. The least stiff model is Diva/Tour with neoprene and a grey plastic cuff. It is ok at my weight 135-140lbs and using MS 951. I did notice it making the boots a bit stiffer comparing to touring ski boots liner which has a "flexible zone" at the back of the liner I would like to remove the grey plastic cuff for improvement of flex. Perhaps Zipfit official can advise in this regard the technical feasibility?
  9. What is the difference of your 5 Kessler alpine?
  10. A skier hit me from behind in Solden on my backside turn. After that, the skier scolded at me asking me why didn't I look back when I turn !?!? I asked the skier "do you look behind when you carve/turn?" It was a wide blue/red slope approx 60m wide. I was carving quite slowly, my turn aws not big & extreme, say about 5-8m wide. I always look around to clear all skier/sbers before beginning of each slope. The crash happened approx 30 second from the top of that slope. It is clear that the skier hadn't allowed enough clearance space when he planned to bypass me. Luckily, I noticed something going against me at the end of my backside turn and I laid down to minimize the injury. He crashed my board and flew into the air. I kept saying that "you hit me from behind" and he and he ski mate kept saying foul words. What can I do?
  11. So sad to hear your news. I will pray for you for your recovery.
  12. From my experience, the heat transfer is not enough for the very first molding. However, nothing stops you from doing it twice or more times until you feel comfortable. Zipfit can be molded as many times as you want. I also mold it again every morning (if I have time) using boiling water with a plastic bag. Changing boot shell also works like that.
  13. Assume we are talking about EC style right now, please try to put your left hand (i.e. front hand) onto the slope during toeside carve, as early as possible. In fact, you are quite opposite to me. I always have very good toeside turn and bad heelside turn. I won't fail a toeside turn if I don't want to. I often need to make my toeside turn less strong in order to give some room/time for my heelside turn to improve.
  14. IMO, it's simply because HB snowboard is much more difficult than SB snowboard and skiing. I guess the same happens to telemark skiing.
  15. What did u build for your wife? And what is ur wife's weight and skills? Would u mind to share please.
  16. Please check "shell fit" of your boots first and try one size smaller. Very likely they are one or two size (cm) too big. Zipfit doesnt need to buckle and unbuckle, except for the first one or two rides when the liner is molding to your foot.
  17. Drop my head fearlessly downhill towards the ground as early as possible for both heelside and toeside to perfect my EC turns. That's what i learn in the last day of my trip in Late January.
  18. This video (choose video 6/7) shows it all. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bMDTWwAEL2Y&list=PLN5k5K-9e_qySVGawgv-ePwdkazrwIGy4&index=6
  19. Yes, Freezer. You are 100% correct, I have been hindering by stiff boots. I have tried many ways and many modification to my boots. Such as always riding with walk mode , sanding/cutting the tongue, loosening the top buckles, changing tongue, without tongue etc. Situation improved though still not perfect. In fact, I did a little tweak everyday after riding.
  20. I have been having issues with my rear foot (right foot). I added and/or take away Zipfit cork every night after riding and tried different compositions. Too much cork/having cork in the work place squeeze my foot on the side. Having Too light cork cause the back of my ankle rubbed/hit the shell from behind while "pulling" the board. I end up injecting two tubes of cork (about 30 gram) to the rear liner. Front liner work well as it is.
  21. I have bought 2 pairs of Gara, 2 pairs of Tour/Diva, and 1 pair of standard Zipfit Liner for me, my wife and my family. I like the Zipfit fitting, heel hold and everything. But sometimes prefer using Touring boots liner for its flex. My comment and suggestion is that the liner should be very flex longitudinally and should NOT interfere the boot flex by make it stiff. The biggest different between ski and snowboard is that skiers do not use/have limited use of ankle while snowboarder use the ankle to absorb the bump and control the board. For Extreme Carving, that is especially important! You can promote your zipfit in the www.extremecarving.com and asking for their suggestion. I prefer Tour/Diva for snowboard than Gara/standard which are too stiff. Also, I find the strap useless and affecting the fit around the calf area. I also use normal shoe laces instead of the one provided.
  22. Thanks Pokkis for your information. My wife has no carving skills and is very weak (46kg), so probably I will ask Bruce to make a "minus"-Paula's version.
  23. Freezer, thanks for your comments. Yes, I know i am quite upright. The problem is my MS951 is too stiff although I have use no spring. Second is the the videos are taken after 6-7 days intensive carving, I was totally exhausted and couldnt bend my knee much. My problem on steep slope might be a matter of my skills, probably not really board related. The ECVC board is so damp and smooth, cutting all curds, allowing me to ride 8 hrs continuously for a week! I can ride max. 13km elevation drop per day and more than 60km per trip. I rate it 11 out of 10!! It is perfect for me. I need to carve on and work hard on training my bad knee and thin leg. Whats going next, I am asking Bruce to build a board for my petite wife. Any comment, suggestion and question is welcome.
  24. I asked Bruce to build me a board in 2018 summer. My planned board is shorter, narrower and tighter in 160 x 19 x 12m to 165 x 20.5 x 12/13m. Finally, Bruce and I decided to make it longer, wider and faster. Therefore the produced board is ECVC 168 x 21 x 12.5/13.5m for my 168cm/135lb. I also ask my 3 years old daughter to paint the custom graphic for me. Riding History The board arrived in early 2019 in excellent build quality and the superb graphic is eye catching. It encarved "T 168 ECVC -6.2+9". I ride 4 days and 18/19 season. The board is damp and smooth which gave me courage to learn EC. Unfortunately, I twist my ankle of the back foot due to old boots being too large and riding too happy. I bought the new MS951 boots in the end of last season and have rode 15 full days in two trips in this 19/20 season. 19 days in total. Is it too late to post it in New Board Porn now? Flex The flex hits the sweet spot for my weight. And I particularly like the stiff nose. The board likes me to put pressure on the nose. I think I only had one not-so-serious nose dive in poor snow condition when there is a small pond of soft snow in the middle of groom run and I put too much pressure on front leg. Which is better than my other board with soft nose. I feel the board flex is quite constant from tip to tail. I feel confident, comfortable, stable & easier laying down carving even the slope is a bit uneven and curd. The length, width & radius are all to my taste. But if you ask me to do it again, I will probably make it longer in 170/175cm. Setting I feel wider stance width is less tiring. Therefore, I gradually increase the stance width from 45,46,47,48,49 to 50cm and will try to reduce it to 48 in my next trip. I also moved the binding to the front by ~0.5cm. I ride 52.5/47.5, 51/48 or 54/48. I am still trying to find the best setting. EC Performance I ride softboots for about 10 years, hardboots for 4 years. I am quite satisfied with my front side for the moment (though still has rooms for improvement). While my backside turn initiation is always a bit late, together with putting too much pressure on front leg (especially when the board return uphill), chatter happens often. Once chatter or the lost edge, my butts touch the ground for 1 or 2 second before regaining the edge. My pants and jackets are totally torn in less than 10 days because my riding style is everyday from first ride (8:30) to end of lift (16:30) without lunch for 7.5 days in a trip! (see attached image). After all, I learn a lot in this board and rectify my bad habit. Love it! Problem EC on 15-18 degree slope is ok. It is quite exhausted and tiring for EC on 19-25 degree slope. Perhaps, I will probably ask Bruce to made me a longer board? Another problem is that the MS951 is still a bit too stiff for pull-push though heavily modified. And riding without tongue is just too scary. I just found that the frontside edge, near front foot, has a 1mm dent at the edge corner. Finger can feel easily. However, I couldn't notice it when riding. It may be caused by skiers crash or hidden stone. Should I do something about it? Video Conclusion If you are a lightweight EC rider like me, I recommend Coiler ECVC to you. Question is welcome. Cheers!!
  25. Riding on this post, does mountain slope plan to made a kid's/small female 951 version in ~20-21cm? (probably with cheaper plastic?) There are many Asian girls in 155 height/ 21-22 feet. There is no hardboots gonna fit them properly.
