  1. The guy behind me asked, “is that a ski or a snowboard?” I was at a loss for words when I noticed that he was a Jackson Hole ski instructor.… Youda thunk he woulda known better.
  2. Yes, it’s a beginner run but twice as steep as the beginner run at Crystal. I can linkup pencil lines all day long on this run BUT increase the slope a little which requires controlling my speed and I have an extremely difficult time maintaining the carve…so freakin frustrating.
  3. For us guys who thrive on serious activity, down time, or less than optimal up time is REALLY, REALLY frustrating but we must occasionally chill a little for better days ahead. Barry, you WILL be back!
  4. Good recovery Barry. Keep it up but with caution.
  5. I see a little new snow today, Sunday, and tomorrow, Monday, but do they have enough and how well might my 8 year old grandson do with no temps over 15°?
  6. Go for it. It also applies to banjos and racing shells for me.
  7. Back leg only, inside the joint, more lateral than medial, not related to the kneecap, the trigger is a mystery but when it is triggered it’s quite painful…it seems like nothing unusual triggers it…it just happens very occasionally if I step on it…never had anything like it. It is ever present at a fairly low level and doesn’t seem to be aggravated by riding or walking once the stiffness is out. The only thing I do differently now than a couple of weeks ago is I try to angulate my body to get more up on edge than I get from just leaning. Yesterday I started wearing a three Velcro elastic support…have no clue if it will help or not.
  8. If course any of them could undoubtedly freecarve with the best of you guys/gals.
  9. IMHO, race carving is really hardcore slarving and quite different from free carving and different equipment may apply.
  10. I believe I have come up with the etiology of new, otherwise unexplainable, knee pain which started only after I began paying more attention to body angulation after watching the Sean Martin/Lexi YouTube vid. n e body else relate to this?
  11. I sincerely appreciate all of your very good comments. Even though I am progressing especially since I’m much more aware of angulation my major problem persists, i.e. I can linkup pencil lines all day long on gentle slopes where I can stay in the fall line when speed control is not an issue BUT the minute I get on a slightly steeper slope where I need to wrap my turns back up the hill to control speed I always resort to slarving…very, very frustrating. I know I must “just go for it…hang in there…commit, etc.” but it’s a huge struggle. On another issue: I believe all of you guys/gals who can carve runs like at Turner with gorgeous carved turns (Facebook images) can also care like that on most any board, i.e. Coiler, Thirst, Donek, Kessler and even a Burton Factory Prime BUT for a carver wannabe, like me, a more flexible board like my Thirst XC and SF are helpful.
  12. So they gave her the gold even though she finished 2nd??? What am I missing??? What I am missing is that I didn’t do my homework. I should have realized that she robed her team and herself out of a Gold medal in 2006, not 2022, by showboating. I apologize for that.
  13. No, she got second place, right? You have to come across the finish line first to have won.
  14. I thought I might prefer standard toeclip bindings but I’m over that after having experimented…sticking to either F-2 Titanflex or F-2 raceplates both with intec heels.
  15. I’m under the impression that most people consider the UPZ Flow liners to be useless. I love my 28 Deelux 131 liners in my UPZ 28 shells but only after performing the surgery in the attached pic. Prior to that I suffered terribly no matter what else I did.
  16. I consider her to have been incredibly stupid. Why even make the effort to do all it takes to go to the Olympics if showing off is more important than a Gold medal? very selfish and foolish of her, IMHO!
  17. I’ve heard it soooo many times and never remembered to do it when on the hill until last Monday but looking across the run to where you want to go does make a considerable difference in hanging on to a carve. Thanks, Jack!
