  1. FWIW: I read the above diagnosis to Dr Dan Nelson, ProOrtho, Kirkland, WA, on the radio yesterday and, just as I expected, he would need to, at the very least, see an X-ray as a diagnostic note like this is not very helpful when trying to recommend or decide on treatment. Like he said total hip replacement may be the correct treatment but a Xray would tell the tail and, in some cases, stem cell treatment can solve the issue.
  2. And I thought I would get negative comments about the graphics or lack thereof which maybe this is. I will go on the record and state that I couldn’t care less about the topsheet graphics on a board. It’s meaningless to me. If I want a personalized or custom look I’ll use off the shelf or custom made stickers. I am so stoked to take this puppy for a ride and I appreciate what someone posted about a front foot of 45° as being important for heelside.
  3. About 31/26/30. Google Nobile 158 n8. I think scr is 10.5.
  4. Wow, super bummer, Barry. I hope you recover completely and sooner rather than later!
  5. Couldn’t believe it myself! Apologize for the hasty pics. I didn’t even know which end was the tip when I first unwrapped it. Excellent build quality. Purchased from Slapos, one of our own. Thank you very much, Lukasz!
  6. Shipped from Poland UPS Tuesday and arrived in Gig Harbor Thursday. Globalization at its zenith!
  7. Know your A1c, your PSA and your Omega 3 index!
  8. There is no “safe amount” of alcohol…it’s ALL poison…get any Resveratrol you want from supplements! Refined carbs (sugar, bread, pasta, pizza crust, etc.) are poison…the less the better! Ellenos yogurt=Häagen-Dazs, ketchup, mayonnaise, hot dogs and all processed meats from Arbys, Jersey Mike’s, Subway, etc. are problematic. Now excuse me while I eat a little chocolate chip cookie dough with my glass of Rose, chomp on a Costco hot dog and listen to Rhonda Patrick, PhD (my longevity guru) at foundmyfitness.com of which I am a paid subscriber.
  9. Mee too…so stoked for this season to arrive!
  10. How do you get one of these boards?
  11. Is K Carving Korean Softboot Carving Worth Watching which I’m assuming can be done on hardboots too?
  12. How about doing the leg blasters with a 10# dumbell in each hand?
  13. Plan on hospital time, lol!
  14. You have two entirely different styles to consider, IMHO. Bomber style on a 170ish length, 20ish cm waist board at about 55/55 angles OR what some are calling Korean style on a 160ish, 26ish cm waist board at about 35/20 angles. These are very, very general specs and are based only my pretty uneducated opinion. I’m going to start this season trying a little Korean style on a new Nidecker 158L Blade in my UPZs at 35/20 Watch Softboot Carving Worth Watching on this site for what I’m calling Korean style.
  15. Can’t tell you how happy I am that you turned me on to these leg blasters. I wasn’t sure I had the range of motion required but I have no problem getting my butt lower than my hips so I’m good to go in that department. 6 months prior to last season I did dumbell squats with 52.5 #s in each hand, 3 sets of 10 every other day and I row pretty hard about 5 days/week so I expected much less quad burn when I got on my board. It made zero difference. I’m hoping 3 months of leg blasters will make a difference. Thanks again.
  16. Very sorry to hear what sounds like a diagnosis requiring a joint replacement BUT, even though you’re not interested but I am, I will run that diagnosis by Dr Dan Nelson during his radio show next Sunday. Dan is an MD with a PhD in pain management and is one Dr in a group with 14 orthopedic surgeons. Dan has specialized in stem cell treatment and pain management for 30 years and he sometimes can help patients avoid unnecessary surgery. You’ll get his opinion even though you don’t want it.
  17. A lot of questions and things to consider and many on this forum much better to deal with this but I will offer my $0.02 as time permits. I wear nothing smaller than Mens size 13 Nikes, my foot measures 28cm and UPZ RC 10 mondo 28 with a Deelux 131 liner, with minor modifications make my boots nearly as comfortable as bedroom slippers. I’ve never worn softboots and went directly to my UPZs from ski boots. To be continued. I have a fairly narrow and low volume foot and a narrow heel and that is partly why I prefer UPZs over Deeluxes (I’ve tried both and size 28 is correct for me in both but my heel wouldn’t stay down In Deelux). It sounds like you have a higher volume foot so Deelux may be better for you and you may prefer their thinner 141 liner as well. Back around 2000 I used my Solomon SX91 ski boots for carving and they actually worked pretty well.
  18. My UPZ 10s are extremely comfortable and I’m going to start next season riding my new Nidecker 158L at 35/20 instead of my usual 55/55 on my Thirsts and Coilers. I tried a little Korean carving with this setup at the end of last season on a 159 Lib Tech Dynamo demo and it went well except the tighter turning burned my quads out more quickly than usual.
  19. I also want to avoid going over the handlebars! I’m going for Mario’s leg blasters!
  20. Really appreciate this, big Mario!
  21. I appreciate the fitness and strength of all of you serious cyclists but I consider cycling, if done with cars around, to be an extremely risky behavior especially for a 78 year old and I want a weight bearing quad strengthening exercise so I might invest in a squat rack.
  22. Can’t wait to try some Softboot Carving Worth Watching on my new Nidecker 158L Blade in my UPZs at 35/20.
  23. How about back against the wall, thighs parallel to the floor as an exercise to increase quad strength for carving?
  24. A hammer sees everything as a nail…surgeons do surgery! You may very well NEED surgery BUT I still wouldn’t let an orthopedic surgeon near me with a knife without at least discussing it with Dan, whether I lived in Canada, India, the US or Timbuktu or whether I had insurance or not!
