  1. thats atleast a 14 hour drive for you, thats 28 hours round trip, for one day of limited skiing. agreed sugarloaf was amazing, if you look up rentals you can get a house nearby for a couple hundred for a week, but resort lodging plus pass for 69 is pretty good. i would wait a month for the maine trip, you could check on hunter mountain in ny, thats about a 4 hour drive for you, just check if they have trails open yet.
  2. Just got my season pass today, and 2 days o flurries is not helping with the wait for opening day. It's been a few years since i was in the area with a season pass, but i had them at creek for like 15 years straight before the time gap. So my question is, who is around during the season and what are your normal times? I never knew any hardbooters at creek other than jtslalom and myself, and i'd love to actually have a group to tell me how much i suck. ha.
  3. I would at the least call the shop and describe what you feel. Even better would be to go there, put your puts on and point to exactly what hurts. A heel lift would pull your toes away from the tip of the boot, and possibly help the outside of your toe knuckles(?) rest in a wider area of the boot. With the top of the foot pain this may make it worse though. So best thing is for a fitter to see it in person, since you met him and feel they are knowledgeable. i doubt the boot is too small if you can only get one crank on it. and fitters will usually knock a boot out as a last resort, since theres no coming back from that, and you create the potential for a weak spot.
  4. Ahh, well if you have 14 yrs under your belt, you shouldn't have much competition. I would think what would be more useful to you, is teaching your teammates the proper way to ride. If you can manage a top 3 finish consistently, it won't help if the others are sucking it up. How do you think the other guys riding will stack up? Is this a long running league at work? Also, if a teammate has a hot girlfriend cheer-leading for him, you shouldn't help him. Instead, work on some sweet carves and then feed her more beers and talk about talented you are while the guy is struggling to make it down the course.
  5. the big difference would be the gates. the turn is determined by the placement of the gates. I would say a simple approach would be to look at carving pics of how to lower your ass and change your center of gravity to ride on edge. (you dont mention your style or experience) also dont stand straight up, and if you hear skidding and see snow flying like a snowplow, you are losing speed. try to find a nice line down the gates and use your edge for nice clean turns, and stay balanced. when you try to get too aggressive is when you lose your form and crash into a fence as a begginner. also if its a beer league you should drink liquer, as this will super charge your talents above your beer drinking competition.
  6. or from being thrown into the back of a truck for shipping to or from the store. some clown stacks things wrong, it falls over with a bunch of crap on top, and then its riding in a truck with 500 lbs. on the nose for a couple hours.
  7. You sound like me in the way that this purchase will be under yuour feet for several seasons. I just checked out hardbooter.com yest. and they have like 15 boards on clearance, starting at like 200 going to 1000 or 1200 for a brandy new kessler. lots of variety in types. i wish i did more research on finding the deal deal for a new board. but i am also pleased with my volkl. if i was in the market with cash, this is how i would approach it... meet boarders locally and watch them ride, and pay attention to the boards, maybe even switch boards with a friend and pay attention to the difference in ride. get some education. then demo everything possible in the same mindset. get a top 5 list that you think offer what you want. find a closeout or demo board for sale, demos normally sell for nothing and have like 10 days of riding or less. either snag something on a steal, or if you have the cash to support the industry tell a builder what you like about each of your top 5 boards and expect to be in the 1000 neighborhood. the last step is most important...carve it up.
  8. Definitely, second annual hunter trip, with about 8 years in between. I'm looking to get a lot of riding in this year. I should be around next weekend. hope my legs are in good enough shape...
  9. Oh well i retract my previous pick. I didn't realize your ex-wife's father picked the pats. And actually it was two OT wins in a row, and the only reason those games went to OT was the kicker missed 3/4 field goals. You have to hate when your whole team is working for a win, and some streaky kicker who is in 3 or 4 plays a game can destroy everything the whole team has put together over 4 hours.
  10. Most of us are in the north nj new york area. if you take 95 north to 287 north to rt 23 north you will come to mountain creek which is the only real nj skiing. thats about a 2 hour drive. If you check out the liftopia link you can grab a day pass for 29 bucks, which is half price. maybe check the new jersey new york area finder on that site for deals near you, otherwise a pa guy on here would have to chime in. may take awhile, we are just coming out of our summer hibernation.
  11. don't know if you guys know about this site but i came across it in another forum. creek has $29 lift tickets about once a week on this site, as well as most resorts. Incase anybody uses day passes, this may help.
  12. mm i'm gonna have to go with the jets27- pats24 time runs out on brady on the last drive of the game. Shouldn't you be teaching or something?
  13. Definately gonna have shrinkage going from 70 inside to 4 deg. outside. you always need to be safe with a new setup to see how it responds and how often it needs attention. on my first run i always check for snug on the bindings. and if you were a little loose, as you may know, rattling around and torque will just make it much worse. the loctite should do the job, but you should still pay attention to your equipments "habits"
  14. If the only issue is tears just grab some heroin for the lifts. if that doesn't help use bubble wrap and duct tape. In the northeast we have a very limited "good" ski season so i can't take time off or ill wind up in my 30's with kids and a nagging wife complaining about wasting money on a season pass, before i get back on the slopes.
  15. good to know, ive never heard of punching out a boot before
  16. Finding the mondo size isn't that simple. Michelle swore my mondo size sounded too small but i checked a hundred times. I'm a carpenter, measuring is what i do day in and day out. as it turns out, i measured correctly and had the 2 finger spacing, but my boots still fit tight, which everyone says is typical until you mold the liners. turns out my feet are wide for the size i purchased and going bigger would have helped. I didnt know this since my feet fit perfectly into every shoe and boot ive ever tried on. makes me think the deeluxe have no forgiveness for width. So i think you should slightly size up based on width. If there was a standard foot width posted i would have checked and investigated how to pad out from a larger mondo size to be comfortable. If you think about it width is just as important in sizing as length, and when you are faced with a 500 pair of boots that you are stuck with in pain for a bunch of years, you are right to ask a lot of questions. some of us have a budget which means buying new equipment results in living with your choice for awhile. Classic length vs. girth convo.:D

    Phone Dilema

absolutely must watch, made by a best buy employee who got pissed off at iphone customer.
  18. NASCAR came out with the car of tomorrow to level the playing field instead of staying a millionaire's sport. what they didn't do was force teams to add radio antenna's back on the cars or use street legal tires. I don't think this rule change will level the playing field, it may lead to a chem company developing a suit that meets the standards yet eliminates drag using new materials. This development would be very pricey. As we see so often in everyday, interference to solve one problem just creates a second problem. What about the cost of equipment? should we limit what companies are able to charge on race boards? And how does this respect culture? Snowboard culture was not creating by committee, it was what people felt like doing. Son now this committee is deciding what constitutes culture appropriate attire? Is culture not an evolving thing? But now the culture is evolving and we need to stop it and define what culture is supposed to look like. By creating rules to control culture you are destroying culture. Don't the riders of today have the right to try different things are determine our own culture? I mean does this committee even know the definition of culture? It doesn't sound like it, sounds like they have determined that the clothing of a certain period is the only way that future riders should dress. I understand there is precedent in other sports, but by their reasoning it's completely contradictory.
  19. i am riding the same boot as you...deeluxe 700t ,i meant picks of the adjusted strap to see final look. also let me know if you find an adjustment add on to shorten the strap. that would be great.
  20. could stand some better pics of the product, but i have the same problem when i start working the board. i start getting a good rythm and my heel lifts on me, major buzzkill.
  21. i would need to try a new board line before a drop a grand on it. that said why didnt you do this last year before i dropped cash on my first brand new alpine board?
  22. once again you guys miss the important stat... who the **** is carving the poles? other than the polar bear in the cool coke commercials...
  23. this could have been done based on the forum divisions already on here. ny nj and pa are together...the tri state area. the best way to do this is based on what we believe to be our areas. for me in nj its ny nj pa and southern conn. and i know you new england clam chowda guys might have some division, then the beltway boys, and the weirdos in carolina. maybe divide by timezones then sub divide by north and south if neccesary. props on the idea for this poll though.
  24. conditions on friday were the best i have ever seen. perfect temp, nice hard corduroy that slightly loosened as the day warmed. and plenty of honeys with questions. you didnt miss much dont worry.
