  1. some think that buying "carbon credits" would offset, i come from the school of thought that you should do your homework, buy the right board, treat it well, and ride it for years. Of course im not a competitive rider so theres that.
  2. ive always wanted to create a snowboard fan. find a commercial fan with blades long enough, remove those( potentially to try snowboarding on them) recreate attaching hardware mounting holeson snowboards. could also mount as book shelves or remove tips and piece together as a bartop. home cheapo sells a two part bar top resin that you can pour over the boards once on the bar to create a finished smooth bartop surace.
  3. probably more likely to be impaled by a skier
  4. I would have liked to see a little more use of edges, and a lot less arm flailing. Very cool, learning in the front yard usually breeds kids who really love the sport.
  5. conditions Wednesday were killer. perfect cord, no chop, no people. I rode all over north and guess what, everytime i checked up hill, it was an empty slope. Perfect chance to put a lot of turns together and enjoy the whole trail. Praying for a no show with this rain.
  6. i have to update my email, so if you sent something it went elsewhere. updating now
  7. i will be at creek wedensday or thursday if anyone is around
  8. i have td3's and am looking to do the same as you. If the fintec heels and receivers are compatible i wouldn't mind going halvsies with you. are the fintec heels identical or is there a right and left? i ride regular so would need to convert my right boot.
  9. Nice catch Tex...I figured the thread had served it's purpose, glad to see you were paying attention. Except when in my free time on a Saturday(caused by freezing rain) I took the opportunity to inspect the details of Godwin's law and found the following... Also note that a Nazi reference in jest does not justify the invocation of Godwin's law. wikipedia... The law and its corollaries would not apply to discussions covering genocide, propaganda, eugenics (racial superiority) or other mainstays of Nazi Germany, nor, more debatably, to discussion of other totalitarian regimes, since a Nazi comparison in those circumstances may be appropriate. However, Godwin's law itself can be abused, as a distraction, diversion or even censorship. Since only smart people use wiki for reference.
  10. Everything. Your attempts to belittle our tangent are aimed at preventing the continuance of my freedom of expression. Hence you are attempting to censor my opinions on an off-topic forum. Other than that i believe a conversation of black americans has a lot to do with the original graphic, considering some are assuming a confederate flag can only be a racist expression. You know the Nazi's had pieces of flair, that they made the Jews wear.
  11. Well your first problem is using logic to try to understand politics. example: "We must pass the bill to know what's in it." that's right we need to blindly approve a bill then look at it to see if it is a good piece of legislation. Your other error is assuming that the implication the block IS moving, not that it SHOULD be moving. Yes in a vacuum the percentage should be relative to the population percentage as things equal out over time. But it hasn't, why? At first segregation led to the elevation of blacks in the workforce meaning the current employees would be devalued slightly or diluted from the influx of paid workers looking for jobs. to be continued...work
  12. Yea really... I in no way believe there is a benefit to segregation, just commenting on the last line of the poster above me, without going even farther off topic about a political system that relies on a perpetual welfare state to maintain votes. which is actually a form of racism affecting the same population that segregation affected. way off topic though.
  13. not in any way supporting segregation, but since this practice was ended black test scores have plummeted, along with graduation rates. Also, the black community was 70% two parent homes to 30% single parent homes. Today the numbers have fully reversed to 70% single parent homes. AGAIN not supporting in any way, just food for thought.
  14. What makes a symbol evil? Because the KKK used the confederate flag, does it make all confederates klan members? What about if a person uses a symbol for evil then at that time it is evil? What about our great General Lee, the actual General? Was he racist for leading the south? Because his allegiance was to his state and when it joined the confederacy so did he. Remember when we were founded it wasn't for the love of this country, it was to ban together to win freedom from an over seas monarch. Afterwards a lot of people had a lot of ideas of what the governments role was. The civil war was brewing since the revolution, it had just been passified, but eventually couldn't be avoided. Hell even Alexander Hamilton who we consider a great man, tried to overthrow the US and become monarch when he was president. He had the political support and used General Washington to try to get the military support. Didn't pan out, but America is such a large country of so many cultures, that it is hard to stay unified. and don't forget there were kkk rallies in the north, it wasn't strictly southern. Before WWII MSG had a gigantic rally for American Nazi's, Look it up. If a black person uses the N word he is not called a racist, if another race says that word, they are racist? So to many people the context matters, which is why in America we have a Constitution to protect everyone. Canada has speech laws. What if someone was proud to be southern and owned a confederate flag? should the flag be banned? Remember it is legal to be in the KKK. It is legal to hate, it is not legal to use those feelings as a cause to injure others. What if I started a group that killed arabs on sight and marched under the American flag? To me I would be using that as a symbol of hate, that doesn't mean that you do too. That being said, Someone who displays the flag outside of the south has to expect to stir some reaction, but because we think it is hateful does not mean we can judge and take away that person's right to expression. If we do it is just arbitrary to what some people believe is right. So who decides? The north, the south, the east, the west? Catholics, Baptists, Nazi's, Mormon's? Who is the judge of what is acceptable expression. Freedom of speech: if you control speech, you can control thought. Don't demand people follow your morals just because a certain subject stirs emotions for you. And to clear things up with some idiots out there that talk about things they don't study...We gave slaves 3/5 a citizen representation to end slavery. Previous to this decision they were no part a citizen. they were property. It was a way to catch slave states in a catch 22. If slaves were to have a full vote, the slave states would be awarded more representatives in congress, making free states a minority. So to save their majority representation to abolish slavery they counted slaves as less which brings voters from 5 million down to 3 million, A huge difference. At the same time giving a slave any right to vote meant the slave states admitting that slaves are not property, since property, like cows and plows do not vote. This de-legitimized all arguments for slavery and led to the abolition. But for some reason politicians who want minority support go off yelling that the 3/5's vote was a racist mark on our constitution. when in reality it was needed to end slavery.
  15. you can fashion your own with half a ski gate, a 2' sex toy and a set of winter scarves.
  16. u still going wedensday? depending on ice i could make it overthere
  17. Don't forget SIP's structural insulated panels, come in any size30'x 30' ive installed on a roof. Come in various thickness' and are commonly used on timberframes since there are no studs to sandwich fiberglass. Usually 6" thick consisting of what looks like an ice cream sandwich construction. outside layered with osb and 5" o foam in between. just throw up your sheetrock against the inside sheet of osb, and your siding onto the outside piece of osb. Huge R value at about 110% the cost of normal stud walls except its quicker to build and much more eficient. Just add a hot air exchanger for fresh air in the home with out losing heat or a/c typically you need to turn on your heat maybe a week a year and the same with the ac.
  18. well considering that i have common sense, and that i grew up skiing, i would pick up the ski and move over to the side of the trail where there is a hugely greater chance of being out of peoples way. then i would stick my poles about 3 feet uphill from me. Growing up a skier on a mountain with many beginners i often would stop put my skis in an x above someone to make it clear to others to avoid that spot, then help them put on their skis. First i asked if the needed a hand. (See skiers guide to picking up chicks.) And everytime i stop to let a crowd pass me or to take a rest, I look uphill, if i can't see people coming down i know i am unsafe. The fact remains there is no speed limit on a mountain on most trails(slow down signs) are there freak situations? yes. am i blaming the mom, no. I am saying it is possible for someone to be on an uncrowded trail having fun riding with some speed while still being under control. Ans sometimes people take a spill at a blind spot and wind up being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Personally, I speed check at blindspots, such as where trails dropoff and you can't see downhill. Now if this happened on a smooth trail where you could see far ahead of you, and this guy wasn't in enough control to see the downed skier and avert his path or God forbid help a child, Then this would be the outcome we all fear as we post stories of being rammed in the back, and manslaughter would be the least acceptable punishment.
  19. you can still pursue the estate in civil court. The skier code also says not to stop where you can't be seen from above, ie, under a roller. First thing i was taught was to put ski poles or skis in an X above your position for safety. also move to the side of the trail to put on your ski. different on a green slope where you expect beginners arent thinking and fall constantly and arent always mobile enough to get off the trail. But skiers code is not necessarily the law.
  20. I would like the td3 step-in setup for my rear boot, anybody want to split the cost?
  21. Also remember that the liners are tight brand new. they will pack in after a couple days on the hill and give you more room, slightly. a heel lift will pull your toes back and also create more room. your bootfitter should explain these steps to you, knocking out the boot is the last step not the first.
