  1. I was out with a skier friend of mine last week and near the end of our day, a group of 4 youth ski racers started peppering me with questions about my setup in the lift line. And then my friend says, "I was worried we were going to make it through the entire day without someone asking you about your board." Update: Jokes on me. Wrong topic! Sorry folks.
  2. Thanks @Termin8tor! You made this too easy. Got the boots and looking forward to trying them this weekend. Appreciate you covering the shipping costs, too. I did not expect that!
  3. The sizing with the UPZ boots seems a bit confusing to me. The size charts posted here and here are not the same and the link to the chart on https://upzboots.com/faqs/ appears to be broken. If I have a UPZ RC10 boot with the following numbers stamped in the shell near the heel, how can I tell what MP size the boot is? 4 / 4,5 / 5 258 / 279 mm Other than these numbers I don't see any other markings. Thanks!
  4. The snow lasted longer than my legs. And it’s still coming down. Should be a great weekend. I’m headed to Berkshire East on Sunday.
  5. Wow. There’s a lot of snow and it’s still coming down. Sunday should be spectacular!
  6. I'm planning to get out this Sunday. Meeting some friends driving over from Albany area. Will anyone else be around?
  7. I'm planning to be out tomorrow (Friday). Only my third time out this season. But that's three more times than last season!
  8. As a relently new grandpa this past year, LOVE IT!!
  9. Where do you get gear like snow pants repaired? Most local tailors I know can't deal with performance wear. I've used Boulder Mountain Repair (https://bouldermtnrepair.com) with so-so results, but they're incredibly expensive. It's difficult to get a simple repair done for less than $150 including shipping.
  10. Hi there! Are these boots still available?
  11. I'm glad that Plutos is open! I'm going to try and make it there this Friday. I'll post again once I know for sure.
  12. Starting at 11am it was freezing rain and foggy. My legs gave out soon after. conditions between 9am and 11am were not too bad. After 11, lots of ice, not surprising. Many of my favorites runs are not yet open, including Plutos, UFO, and Big Dipper. Magnitude is not well groomed yet — soft and bumpy. Galaxy is half width due to make shift terrain park until the main park runs open. It’s still early days. Less than half the mountain is open. If you head there soon stick to Satellite Summit, Galaxy, and Meteor, if not closed for race or race training.
  13. “Severe winter weather advisory” in effect from 6 AM to 3 PM today. Freezing rain expected with up to 1/10 an inch of ice accumulation. Welcome back to snowboarding in New England. You know it's been too long, when I don't even care. I just need to get on a board. Hopefully this means there will be less crowds.
  14. Let me know when you plan on going. I could be tempted to start work later a couple of times a week and carve there in the morning for a few hours. I'm heading to Crotched tomorrow (Sunday) for the first time in two years tomorrow. I can't wait!
  15. I don't handle it well at all. Especially when regular non-snow folks start celebrating that it was 70 degrees today.
  16. Looks like snow tonight. I'll be out Saturday and likely Sunday, too!
  17. For the hardpacked iced up trails in New England, hardboots is the right tool for the job. Until I discovered alpine snowboarding in hardboots, I preferred to be on my skis when negotiating icy conditions and hardpacked snow. I haven't been on skis in over ten years now.
  18. I’ll be out at Beast tomorrow (Sunday)! Come on out! Today was a pleasant surprise of both natural and machine made snow. It would have been a great day for softies or hardboots. Hemlock is back in carving form! UMass was very nice! Upper and Lower Comp had snow guns blazing all day so not so carvey but after it gets groomed tonight it may be super yummy tomorrow! Sorry to hear about the knee. If you’re up for it I’ll be out tomorrow.
  19. Weather looks good for both tomorrow and Sunday! I’m planning to be out both days.
  20. Anyone planning to be out this weekend? Weather is looking pretty good!
  21. I was out on Saturday and met up with Brian, Edwina, and friends. The conditions were a little on the softer side (especially Chief, UMass, and War Dance). Exhibition was in prime condition and where we hung out most of the day. Unfortunately, Hemlock had slalom gates on it all day and Comp was closed due to a race. The grooming on Chief is... weird. I'm not sure what's going on but two weeks in a row it wasn't even groomed. Although, Lift Line is being groomed regularly now. Not a trade-off I approve of. Yeah, it's painfully slow. Sometimes I find it's more worth while head back to the main lift, then use Riva Ridge to get back to Exhibition and avoid Outback. You'll get more runs in that way. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to get back out on Sunday. Somehow I did something to aggravate a tendon on my right (rear leg) just on the outside of my knee. I was in a bit of pain yesterday, but after resting and icing I'm pretty good today. Hopefully I'll back out this weekend.
  22. I'm planning to be out Saturday also. Probably Sunday too! Unfortunately, I can't get there for Friday, but please post a report if you get out!
  23. Between Saturday and Sunday, the conditions were really different. Saturday was the better carving day, but Sunday had more coverage since they were making snow all day Saturday and earlier in the week. The groom was pretty soft on Sunday. Still tons of fun. Overall, the grooming is questionable and definitely not up to typical standards. The last few times I've been out Chief and Lower Flying Cloud has not been groomed, which is pretty disappointing. War Dance has had the same whale of ungroomed snow on it for the past three weekends. I don't know what they're waiting for. Other steeper runs such as UMass, Grizzly, Minnie Dole, and Hemlock are groomed but very uneven with large rollers across the hill. Comp and Exhibition have been excellent as always. I can't wait for the grooming team to get back from Cancun. I hope they had a nice vacation. Lol!
