  1. First week of November, and we're open for business! Norquay and Nakiska were open this weekend. Sunshine opens on Friday Nov 10. Picking that KHMR will open earlier than scheduled (they've posted crazy vids of 3ft of snow at the top). Anyone go up to Nakiska this weekend? I was in Banff for the Film Festival and there looked to be plenty of snow on the hills.
  2. ^^^ but blissfully empty during the week! Not the easiest to get to from Banff - there's no shuttle from there, you'd need a car or a ride - but worth the effort.
  3. Stay upright. Last season I stayed upright more than usual, I hope to continue the trend. I figure I'm either getting better, or just older and slower. More travel. FINALLY getting to Silver Star after a cancelled trip two years ago, and back to Whitefish to ride with the crew after missing last year.
  4. November 1. Snowfall warning in Kananaskis, 10-15 cm ... Nakiska might actually get that early opening they were looking for.
  5. True, but who knows how long it's going to be before TD3's are shipping again? It's likely that this season will come and go before this mess gets sorted out, which isn't going to be much help to someone who needs bindings now. F2 Titaniums aren't Bombers, but if they're good enough for WC racers, they should be good for pretty much anyone. Worst case, you move them on next season - there's always people willing to buy them used.
  6. In that case, I will definitely have to make it up there a day or so early. Putting that in the calendar right meow.
  7. You made an excellent point. Once the trustee was appointed, and depending on the terms of the bank loan and its security, it's likely that as of last Friday any stock is now the bank's property. If it's been shipped after that date, it's entirely possible that the trustee could come after it to claim it back. It's unlikely, because it's usually more trouble than it's worth, but it's happened. Just bear that in mind if anything arrives on your doorstep ... you might not be home free.
  8. You should hang around anyway. Hotels in Whitefish are pretty reasonable in the winter, or from Schweitzer, swing into Canada and spend a couple of days at Kimberley - which is a wonderful hill for a carving board, with cheap lift tickets and cheap accommodation. Then Fernie's on your way to Whitefish as well, if you stay north of the border. That could make for a very good week at that time of year.
  9. Sorry to say, but the news is all bad. The trustee's under no obligation to fulfil contracts prior to the bankrupcty. Their only function is to maximize the return for the creditors, however they can. Call the credit card company, absolutely. They might be able to reverse the charges if the merchandise never got delivered. Otherwise, you should get a claim statement that you have to file, and then stand in line and hope that there's something left over once the bank's been paid.
  10. I'm trying really hard to convince a couple of the local crew to come to the Fish for the session this year. Going to try and swing at least one extra day off work ...
  11. I MISS YOUR FACES. 871km ... It's not as far as Jackson ...
  12. I'm terrible at backing trailers, so I feel your pain. But please post pics of the camper, I'm very jealous :-)
  13. Damn shame about Sperry, hopefully it doesn't get as far as Lake McDonald Lodge. I'm supposed to come to Whitefish on the bike this weekend, but Going To The Sun is closed at this end so we'll have to take an alternative route. They're starting to evacuate Waterton, on the Canada side of Glacier this morning, due to spot fires starting up from the US side. Stay safe out there, and let's hope for some rain soon.
  14. There won't be anything open at the end of October. Sunshine might open Remembrance Day if conditions are good, but it's more likely to be the weekend after. March should be good for spring riding all over.
  15. Sometime before next snowboard season :-) I was planning on painting over the May long weekend, but my boss has just decided to send me to the US for work that weekend ... so much for that.
  16. Hope the kitchen's going well apart from the register head-scratch. I've just done mine (recognized the Ikea cabinet straight off, hahaha), but as I'm having to rip ceramic tiles off the floor and prep it for vinyl plank I suspect yours will be finished well before mine! I'll think of you this weekend, when I'm dismantling the bulkhead that holds the OTR microwave. Sigh.
  17. I'm finding I have the same problem right now. I've just put my downhill mountain bike on the market, because I used it one day last year, and I'm not likely to use it any more this year. I still have the all mountain bike so I'm not without wheels if I want to go and ride, but since getting a decent motorcycle, that's become the toy of choice for sunny days. Being able to jump on that and just go beats the hell out of rounding up all my gear, getting up early, strapping on the MTB and driving for two hours plus to get to the bike park, or at least 45 mins to get to the local downhill spot (and hoping that I can find a shuttle lift once I get there). I do enough of that in the winter, I'm kind of over doing it in the summer as well. I do love it, when I make the effort, but it's just making that effort sometimes ... I couldn't agree more. Life moves along, and all. Doing new things gives you new opportunities to discover the next thing you love.
  18. So annoyed I missed seeing everyone this year. Next year :-)
  19. I always thought the purpose was to launch you into the trees, when you get on the wrong sidecut at the wrong time ... or maybe that's just me.
  20. Argh - I had a friend looking for an FLC, because he loves riding mine, but they're as rare as hen's teeth. He finally gave up a couple of months back and bought a WCR instead ... and then three of them list within a few days! Someone buy this. These are great boards and there's not many of them around.
  21. Crystal is Sean Cassidy's stomping ground, so it's possible it was him. He's a Snowperformance coach and an amazing rider.
  22. Looks like I'm drinking beer in two weeks then. Not the end of the world ...
  23. Confirmed for beerfest weekend. Heading up Friday night (late arrival) and going home Sunday. Hopefully the snow will still be OK in three weeks!
  24. Looks like your carving boards won't be getting much use this weekend. http://unofficialnetworks.com/2017/03/winter-storm-warning-for-northern-montana-up-to-35-forecasted You're going to close with one hell of a base this year.
