  1. Dan, you still going to make it to Whitefish the next week? I'll be there on the first Friday, it would be nice to meet you. Hope you guys have a fun time at Schweitzer this week.
  2. OK, now that all the pleasantries are done with ... ... post the damn pictures already, and let the heckling begin.
  3. Came across this today. I rode the old Rosa chair at Kimberley the first time I went there (when they still had two chairs running from the base) but I had no idea it had been at Whistler before that. And I remember riding the old Chair 5 the last season it ran, on a day when the pow was knee deep and you couldn't see two feet in front of you. Turn, turn, fall over, repeat ... https://liftblog.com/2018/01/14/at-whitefish-a-disused-lift-is-born-again/
  4. Come back anytime. It was a pleasure to finally meet you and watch you ride.
  5. Fantastic weekend. The weather was absolutely amazing for January - it was like spring out there. Shame that the crowds were big and the terrain was a bit limited (no Red Crow? WTF?) but still a great time. Thanks for organizing again, Rice :-)
  6. Dang. Sounds like I'm missing out on meeting all the cool people this year. Hope you all have a great day.
  7. I didn't get a season pass this year, or else I'd absolutely help out.
  8. If you get to Targhee without a carving board, you'll kick yourself. There's so many epic carving runs there, and the snow in March should still be great. I did three days there in 2014 and it rates as one of the best places I've ridden. The blues there won't kill you, but they'll be challenging. Warm up on Blackfoot where the runs are steep but wide and the crowds are non-existent. Then go and ride Crazy Horse and Shadow Woman for me :-)
  9. Nakiska is forecasting 13cm tomorrow, and staying cold through to Friday. That should freshen things up nicely. See y'all on Saturday!
  10. Weird that it's already Jan and I haven't been up to Nakiska yet! Looking forward to riding with everyone again.
  11. ^^^ Ditto. I've been hit hard from behind, and for the next few days it was very easy to tell where my armor ended and my ribs began. Plus, a compressed carving board with a long locked edge will build a lot of power, and if it goes wrong it goes wrong in a spectacular way. I'm sure I'm not the only one here who's launched and back slammed hard enough to see stars. A back protector is a very good idea.
  12. I was chased down on the lift at Silver Star over Xmas, by a guy who wanted to pick my brain about how to get started softboot carving. We had a great conversation, hopefully I pointed him in the right direction.
  13. Heard 2 was open today ... hope you got some laps on Ed's.
  14. Snow forecast looks good for the next few days, looks like you're in luck ... and right on Xmas too.
  15. I went true to size on my UPZ's, and they fit great right out of the box. I ended up having to upsize a few years ago, after my arches dropped and my feet got longer. There's a significant difference in the midfoot volume between the 26 shells and the 27's (similar to what Corey noted when he moved up). The 26's used to be a wrestling match to get on, even with my skinny feet. The 27's are night and day easier. If you have high arches, you'll regret sizing down. I ran my 26.5 Black Diamond liners in the 27 boots for a couple of seasons (unlike the shells, they stretch). Try the stock liners, but try your Palaus in there too. You might like the feel better, and it will give you a comparison of the wrap liner v the tongue liner in the shells. I personally like the tongue liner better with the flex of that boot, but I seem to be about the only one.
  16. We had an amazing start to the season, but it's kind of stalled the last couple of weeks. Sounds like it's the same for you guys. Fingers crossed that we get some more snow before Xmas.
  17. Yaaaas. I'm there with bells on, probably not Friday but definitely Sat and Sun!
  18. You've been going there that long? You don't look a day over 65 :-)
  19. #hallofmeat is the best # ever.
  20. I'm an expert at the Jackhammer, where you bounce your heel edge a dozen times before you finally sit down on your butt, and the Exfoliator, where you get dragged down the hill frontside behind your board, getting a snow facial as you go. I like "Shark Attack" ... but I thought they were snowsnakes.
  21. Jan 24 to Feb 3. I'm planning on heading out pm Thu Jan 25th (depending on road conditions I might stop in Fernie for the night and drive the rest in the morning), coming back on the 29th. Assuming I can swing the couple of days off work ...
  22. Is anyone planning on going to Whitefish for WTF this year? I know Dave was interested. I'm going for sure.
  23. Yep, LL is late to the party. Norquay and Nakiska were open last weekend. Really early start to the season, but I think I'll avoid the white ribbons of death for a few more weeks.
  24. I heard 15 inches up the top. Pretty dang good for the first week of Nov.
  25. I heard yes - second weekend of Jan?
