  1. To anyone on the fence ... this is an AWESOME event. Worth the drive trust me; I come all the way from Ottawa to ride with the awesome people in Southern Ontario! A great crew, really friendly and always happy to ride with you.
  2. Spent a few days riding Mt. St. Louis Moonstone - they had a pretty good base which was resulted in some fun days, although the conditions got challening with giant ice-cookies on Sunday. I think they are making like mad right now and should be in decent shape by 2015. The usual Coiler crew was out in full force; Bruce even made an appearance before Christmas. Not sure what else is open or has anything worth riding around the Ottawa area. Ian and I are planning on testing Tremblant on Monday ... will report. Lets hope that this cold weather holds and that we soon get a decent dump; no more of this teasing dusting.

Will not be able to make it tomorrow, but I will do everything I can do be there on Sunday. Monday & Tuesday are looking good as well (if others can skip work too!)
  4. I just figured out you have to resubscribe to a thread ... responding doesn't necasserily mean you are following it. People might want to flag this. Also; love the mobile version ... so much better than TapTalk! Easy to get around. OK everyone, stop playing on the computer and go SNOWBOARDING! The place close to Bruce's as "throw-back" pricing tomorrow. $5.00 plus a donation to the food bank! SWEET!

Going to risk it tomorrow (Friday Dec 19th). For $5.00 even if I only get an hour in, it is worth it. I am around for the better part of ten days - let me know when you plan on riding. Hope to see you all out there
  6. Love the new look and fee. Not a tech person, so this is working for me (user experience!). Will continue to explore. Thank you for all your hard word and just in time as the season starts to pick up . I was wondering how I would reconnect with all my ride buddies. To happy trenches and a few new additions to your quiver!

What is the deal with MSLM for 2014? I am heading to Orillia in the next few days and am curious if anyone is around to ride with. Is Friday going to be really busy because of the super deal? Should I avoid it? How have Saturday and Sunday mornings been? Looking forward to seeing many of you again
  8. Anyone want to do a few laps tomorrow (Wednesday night) at Cascade? There is only one run open right now, but it is a nice warm up to the season. DId a good 90 minutes on Monday morning and, while a little soft, was really nice (and empty!)
  9. So, someone said I could add more names. If you are still interested DM me and I will see what I can make happen.
  10. Hey ... Just saw this. I did send out the email about a month ago and ordered the passes last week.
  11. SNOW!!!! Finally .... oh; and some of the local hills are hoping to be open next weekend! http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/ottawa/some-ottawa-area-ski-resorts-plan-to-open-within-a-week-1.2836493
  12. Happened to be in Colorado last week and purchased a Classic Pass. So excited for February. How many days? I think we need a countdown clock.
  13. Sorry for the radio silence ... for some reason Bomber stopped sending me notifications and then "work" really got the better of me. The poll suggested Cascade, even though the discussion thread is saying other stuff. So I am going out on a limb and saying Cascade for the first group lift-pass. If someone wants to organize another hill, they are more than welcome ;) I will be sending a follow-up e-mail to everyone. If you were not on my original e-mail and want in, please send me a direct message with your address and I will include you.
  14. I have created a poll to help us decide where to get out night passes this year. You only get one vote, but I am guessing that most people will buy where ever we all end up. Just exploring options!
  15. I have no problems exploring other options if there is a consensus - the tickets are not as cheap, but we can get them until December 1st and individually at Edelweiss. Will start a poll and see where people want to go ... Personally, I like Cascade because their night pass is also good Monday - Friday daylight hours! I can get something similar at Edelweiss, but for an extra $100! But that is just me and I have days off so it works.
  16. Hello Ottawa! The weather is cold with frost warnings already so it is the perfect time to be thinking about buying lift tickets. I have agreed to try and organize the ski pass this year - Cascade gang-up on the mountain! We need ten people to get the $89.00 (plus taxes deal) http://www.montcascades.ca This year we will can still get together on a selected night to slide, but we will not really have organized workshops as Ian (our fearless leader) has other priorities … although I am sure whenever we see him out he will continue to give us advice. Let me know if you are interested and I will let you know how much and what information I need from you to make it so. I am aiming to buy the tickets at the end of October (unless we do not have ten passes, in which case, I am going to hold out for ten so we can get the extra-sweet deal). Think snow!
  17. After the AMAZING time I had last year I am planning my whole winter around making it to SES again. Count me in, barring something crazy (like my boos ... oh wait; I am my own boss. Should be fine!) Will be looking for accommodation (not staying at the St. Mortiz dorms again ...) If anyone has a line on a condo share and is willing to put up with a small Canadian, let me know.

  19. ... and that would be what board ... ???
  20. I could be convinced for tomorrow
  21. Glad you are OK - was thinking about you and Colorado riding last week when I was at Park City, Utah.
  22. Looks like we are heading to Edelweiss tomorrow! Fun times. Count me in for Tremblant (if I am available). Dates that are good for me are the 2nd and 3rd. Does anyone have cheap tickets that they want to off-load?
  23. Hello everyone ... I hate Fortune. And if they are throwing a big bash there is a good chance that the hills will be full of muppets! I would be totally up fro an Edelweiss trip - not been there yet this season so it would be fun. When do people want to go?
  24. I think that both parties are right and it was a no-win situation. If she is not comfortable with guns, then she should not have to be around them (I would hope that her mind didn't go straight to domestic violence - there are lots of reasons why someone would not want to be in a house with fire arms) and as a gun owner who is an avid hunter, he has a right to own and store guns. What I think is sad about the situation is that this didn't come up until they were ready to move in. Obviously, they both have strong feelings on the situation, and I would hope that important topics are discussed early in a relationship. I agree with Kieran, we shouldn't have to face ultimatums, it suggests someone doesn't respect who we are or understand what it is that makes us tick. I hope to know a relationship is heading south long before someone ever offers me an ultimatum ... but I think I too would choose X. Not doing so would mean I was not being true to myself. This isn't a "control" issue - this is a respect issue (at least for me). The only win here was that both parties knew themselves well enough to not sacrifice their personal beliefs. It was probably a hard decision and one that many people choose not to make.
  25. So jealous that I couldn't join you today. For anyone thinking about Park City Mountain Resort as a place to carve - do it! Not only are there some great runs and good groom, the local carvers are amazing and very welcoming. What a wonderful way to see and learn a new mountain. Thanks so much everyone.
