  1. At Tremblant on a nasty flat traverse I was passing a whole bunch of snowboarders who were stuck ... one snowboard girl, frustrated, looked at me as I passed her sitting on the trail and asked "what are those?" I answered "a snowboard" and her response was all smiles and a "that's awesome!" Yeah - it was awesome!
  2. Just a note ... it is colder and windier today than on Tuesday. If you are going out, cover EVERYTHING ... warming up at the top of Tremblant, my cheeks are no longer white ... !!!
  3. Brilliant! Well done :-) I suppose you will be running the skills class next week!
  4. Agreed - what an amazing evening. It was hard and fast and all ours. The right clothing and even -30 is OK. Thanks to everyone for the incredible energy and great riding - always inspirational to watch you all rip it. And yes; a hug shout-out to the ever observant and helpful Ian. Couldn't have found my hook last night without that tip.
  5. It was a beautiful morning out ... there was a fresh layer of light stuff and very fresh groom ... well - on the cross country trails in the Gats! :p
  6. I am going to Tremblant on Friday (early). Any one want to play hookie with me? Plan on parking at the North lot.
  7. Thanks ladies for the wonderful warm welcome. Confession - when I first started to carve my ex used to make me watch the "Angie-cam" to show me how girls can ride. It was pretty inspirational! Looking forward to meeting you in person and riding with you. I would be totally up for a CHICK run (or runs). ECES used to have a ladies morning where all the girls got together and did their own thing for a few hours - a fantastic session run by Steph which I always looked forward too. I have been peppering Michelle with questions - but I will also let you know if I have more.
  8. There are three people who frequent Edelweiss, usually in the morning - they have been going their for years. Last year we were able to lure Serge out to meet some of us, so he might make an appearance at Cascade sometime. The other two are awesome and have been carving for years and, while they never wait for you in the lift (they just want to ride all the time) are more than happy to give you tips and hints in French.
  9. Was out this morning. They did a decent job with the grooming considering what they had to start with, but by noon you could see the glare ice!
  10. Hey everyone - I am offering to be a gear mule. Will be in Colorado at the beginning of February and will see the Bomber people so if you have small orders you need me to bring back let me know. Would prefer is boots or plates (does anyone here ride with a plate?) were not included in this ask - but bindings and other miscellaneous is cool. If you want something - order though Bomber on-line before the 29th of this, tell Michelle I will pick it up and then let me know what it is. Thanks
  11. I am confused - what is this soft white stuff falling from the sky? It is so soft and light and pretty!
  12. DM Ian with your e-mail address and he can add you to the e-mail list of awesomeness. Glad you got out - sorry the conditions were hard. I think Ian is planning on heading out tomorrow (Wednesday) and I will be out there on Thursday morning. Anyone want to join me?
  13. I bought a six day lift ticket ... wondering if it is possible to "upgrade" to the seven day ticket?
  14. Yes ... Thursday has been renamed muppet-day. Having said that; the back side was quieter, but reading had not stated yet ... so many choices so little time.
  15. Thursday works better for me. Thanks again for organizing this (and for giving us lots of notice about tomorrow)
  16. I was getting comfortable on my soft set-up, but it wasn't working for me. I knew I never wanted to play in the park and do tricks, but I loved being on the snow (and I have never skied). I spent a lot of time on the ski hill with a carver (Ian) and watching him carve it up was like watching a fine dance; it was amazing. I started hinting that I wanted to learn so he found a cheap Oxygen, I rented ski boots and while I couldn't even stand up the first day i was hooked. It was the most amazing feeling every - and I wasn't even carving.
  17. It was hard and nasty and fast. But it was still to go out for a while. And the company was good (at least from my perspective!) Also; full of muppets. On the lift up I saw at least three people not moving on the snow and on my first run two kids ran into each other hard. Obviously nether saw the other. Looking forward to Tuesdays which as supposed to be quieter.
  18. Sad to be missing SOS this year - it is always a great event and worth the drive from Ottawa. Next year!
  19. I think I ordered everything on line about two weeks ago ... do I pick up my tickets there or are you actually going to mail them to me all the way in Canada? Very very excited!
  20. I probably will not be at Cascade tomorrow morning after all ... but I will be there in the evening. On a Coiler (or two) - but not at the same time! Let us know how Pak is.
  21. I will be at Cascade on Thursday morning. If anyone is up for it feel free to join me ... will post a conditions report for those who are on the night shift!
  22. 1. Mark Brown, M-F 2. Jim Cheen, W-F 3-4. Andrea, Dave & Lillian Morgan, M-F 5 GeoffV, M-F 6. Michael Mercurio, M-F 7. Stephane Paquette, M-F 8. Derek Bonser-M-F 9. Tabatha M-F
  23. Anyone want to ride this week? Evenings? It isn't going to be THAT cold Thursday / Friday night, but possibly enough to keep the muppets away! Would love to wish everyone happy new year in person - been too long.

    ECES Clinics

Peter - Ian lives in Ottawa, so drop him a line and get hooked up before ECES. I think we are riding Cascade on Tuesday (starting next week) so come play before the big event and meet some of us. I think Ottawa might be the best represented area at this years session.
