  1. Bad news everyone ... looks like Cascade is ending night skiing this weekend. Fresh from their website: Hours of operation: Monday, March 17th to Friday, March 21st: 10am-10pm Saturday, March 22nd: 9am-10pm Sunday, March 23rd: 9am-5pm Monday, March 24th to Friday, March 28st: 10am-5pm Saturday, March 29th: 9am-5pm Sunday, March 30th: 9am-5pm According to their websites Vorlage, Edelweiss and Camp Fortune will also end their night skiing this weekend. Does this mean it is over??? It can't be. I wanted to see you all next week!
  2. Tuesday 3/18: overcast and recovering from 7 inches of snow (some groomed in by first shift). I ride to ride with the Utah crowd and man do they ride hard and fast. Before 10am we have torn down Prospector, Assessment and Parley's Park; all a little soft and grippy. Next we decided to brave Sitka which was just plain messy. The wind on Monday had scoured much of the mountain and the fresh snow and grooming had not restored the natural order. After another run on Assessment, a top-to-bottom got us over to the Payday lift. After coffee there was some sightseeing (headed over to the Town lift) and then I proceed back up the mountain to confirm that conditions were no longer favourable. Being stubborn, I still stayed out for a few more hours. I have to say that riding with the Utah pack is fun, exciting, FAST, and incredibly welcoming. And the biggest surprise? Of the five riders out today - only two were guys! That is right, more of us girls to guys today! Looking forward to what ever tomorrow might bring. Looks like the conditions will be amazing.
  3. Party at Ian's ... !!!! Will totally help organize something for April ... watch this space! ian; get well soon.
  4. I love my Coilers! I am a total Coiler girl. Bruce does an amazing job talking to everyone who wants a board and then making something to their specifications. Call him, tell him what you ride, where you ride and what you are looking for and he works magic (or find a previously loved one - that is how I have obtained every Coiler I own). A Classic Coiler was my first board and it is still my go-to board when I am not sure how the conditions will be. It is soft enough that it forgives me 90% of the mess I get into including softer powder days, yet rigid enough to carve hard. It is short and twitchy and a fun ride. My second board is a Custom Coiler with an A-sym core, this one takes a lot more leg to turn and is teaching me a few things. I rode a Donek for a while as well. They are nice boards, but not as forgiving. You need to be in charge. There are actually a whole series of posts (started by Two Ravens - I believe she is also based in Idaho) on the board review part of the site called "Princess diaries" where a few of us review several different boards: Classic Coiler review: http://www.bomberonline.com/VBulletin/showthread.php?33721-Princess-Diaries-Chapter-2-Coiler-Classic Asym review: http://www.bomberonline.com/VBulletin/showthread.php?33724-Princess-Diaries-Chapter-4-Coiler-VSR-mid-165 Donek review: http://www.bomberonline.com/VBulletin/showthread.php?33722-Princess-Diaries-Chapter-3-Donek-FC-163-Metal&highlight=Princess+Diaries Coiler Stubbette: http://www.bomberonline.com/VBulletin/showthread.php?33720-Princess-Diaries-Chapter-1-Coiler-Stubette
  5. Heading to Cascade tonight - who is up? Would be great to see people.
  6. Yes ... yes we do! So cute that you and Chris match;)
  7. Hello Utah carvers. I am heading to Park City for work in March and am arriving from the ice-coast a few days early. I will be there Monday 17 - Wednesday 19, and maybe Sunday 16 (if you think the crowds will not be a nightmare). I would love to meet up with some carvers. Also; if anyone is a season pass holder and has some guest passes they would like to sell, I would be very interested. Finally, someone I know just came back from Solitude and said the conditions were carve friendly and it was, as the name suggests, deserted. Any thoughts if I were to hit that up on Sunday instead?
  8. Definitely one of the highlights of my year and a never-miss on the carving calendar. Thanks for all the hard work on making this an awesome ECES (as always). Great people and such a supportive environment to learn and ride.
  9. Thanks Ryan for all the hard work, not just in taking these photos but also the time and effort to edit and crop them. They are amazing and they me look like I might almost know what I am doing. I also like the goofy sandwich picture on the lift! Brilliant.
  10. Sorry I will miss you this visit. Next time!
  11. Welcome ... hope to see you riding sometime soon. Sorry we didn't see you last night.
  12. So what are the plans for tomorrow? Is there a Tuesday session? I am excited to see (and ride) with everyone - it has been too long. And it isn't going to be $#@! cold for a change. WOW.
  13. and I love that Coiler! one girl, one board, one power!
  14. Bruce has always been great at responding to my e-mails (and I am usually trying to pick up a board for other people or ride with him) but February is a busy month for him as he attends SOS as well as ECES. If you make it to these events there are always lots of boards to demo as well.
  15. I celebrated valentines day the best way I know how; four hard hours on magical Ontario groom. The conditions were magic. Nothing like celebrating a day dedicated to love by doing something that brings you joy. The lifities were giving out chocolate first things too. Now I am sitting by the fire, reading a book and wondering if 4pm is too early to start on the Scotch. If you are going to spend valentines day alone, you might as well do it in style! Sending love to all of my favorite carvers ... and everyone else as well. May love fill your soul this year.

Dam! Both because it is an AWESOME picture and because if I had have known, I probably could have made today. Not sure about later this weekend - but keep me posted. Around the area for my mother's birthday so my priority is here.

I will be at MSLM tomorrow (Friday Feb 14) at 9am for half a day of riding. Will start (and park) on the Mt. St. Louis side and work my way over.
  18. Still recovering. So I am staying home and warm. See you all next week!
  19. I am not sure if there is usually an official thread to say thank you ... so I am starting one. A HUGE thank you to Bomber for organizing such a great event and to everyone who made a newbie so welcome. It was a little overwhelming just showing up and I am so glad that I took the plunge because it was a week I will never forget - full of pushing boundaries and learning from an incredible community of people. Not only do I feel I am a better rider for coming, but a better person. I can't wait till my next SOS. And I can't wait to ride with all of you again .
  20. I am pretty sure that I bought my ticket for the banquet and t- shirt already, but can't find my confirmation. Can you confirm I paid already? I would hate to miss the banquet (or not get my sweet shirt).
  21. Over drinks tonight Bruce said he plans on bringing about 10-15 boards. I believe that the Coilers at SES will be shipped to Stratton direct.
  22. I love the Kessel Run outside Fruita - fast, tight and twisty and really well banked. A must if you are every in Fruita biking (and wrapped up with pizza at the Hot Tomato!)
  23. I am out for tonight as well ... will not be back until February 11th. So ride hard and enjoy the steeps And enjoy the Donek ... you know you want it!
  24. Quit you job! Ride more! All these great trips ... so glad everyone is getting out and making the most of the season. Probably will not be able to join you all until early Feb. Will send you all snow- thoughts.
