  1. Yup... bought some bindings... hooray! Thanks BOL!
  2. I strongly believe we should incorporate riders of all sizes on different snow conditions as well. Since I fit that bill I gladly volunteer!! In all seriousness what metrics could one use to review equipment that "we" would all agree on??? Quickness to first carve by a beginner? Depth of carve? Who's having the most fun? The setup that requires the least effort? The setup that costs the least and allows the rider to access/carve the most terrain? The setup that is most eco-friendly? (forget I typed that!) Yeah not very quantifiable... "Ooo, I liked how that felt." -reviewer Since speed down a race course is the only thing that is truly objective I guess we are left with that... sux. :( PS- I didn't start the ... it's been burning since the boards have been turning... (all apologies to Billy Joel)
  3. Unfortunately I see this too often on our local hill. When it's crowded I always make sure my son is in front of me so they run into me not him... I look forward to the NASTAR nights so that we have a clear run. I just wish the local ski patrol was more willing to revoke passes due to this behavior. :(
  4. Thank you for your response! I have to agree with your point of view... that I'm not a killjoy. ;) I've recently gone with flat thin footware for my running and daily wear for many of the same reasons and I am very satisfied with that choice. I've also found the same footwear to be really fantastic when I skate the local park as well. In addition, I love surfing in the winter but have never been as comfortable in the heavy booties that one has to wear in the NE to surf all winter long. It just feels more stable in bare feet. May we all have a more effective interface between rider and board! Cheers.
  5. I now see that my questions might be misconstrued as trying to ignite a long standing debate... This could not be further from the truth! As a "new" person to the hard (dark or light:confused:) side of snowboarding I am interested in digesting as many viewpoints as I can in regards to setups. Especially since I too like to tinker and build things. As well as I'm a little outside of the norm so I find I have to read between the lines of expert advice to see how it applies to my situation. Thanks!
  6. You sir are funny! Thank you. If I could be a bit of a :AR15firinkilljoy... You thought "a thicker intermediate plate, and greater contact area between the boot and the binding" would result in a better ride. Why did you think this? It seems like the "Industry" is headed towards dampening systems that further remove the binding from the board and put many points of cushioning in between the boot and the binding and others lean toward systems where the bails are more flexible. You seemed to go 180 degrees in the opposite direction with these plates... further removing flexibility from the systems. Thanks again for sharing your insights!
  7. Thanks for the explanation... There has been much debate on the forums on stiff vs flexibility in regards to bindings. Am I wrong to surmise that this setup is much stiffer than stock (either TD or CATEK)?
  8. Yeah that only links to the abstract which does not speak directly to your claims and the full text is behind another :AR15firinpaywall.
  9. I LOL'd. I'm guessing my subordinates are going to change their name to "did you check the cables yet?"
  10. Your username is appropriate to the discussion! :D
  11. Yeah it is definitely a front end/back end (dbase/odbc) issue. I feel like a junkie that can't make a score.
  12. My spouse, an Neuroscientist, who studies inflammation (amongst other things) says no way the body doesn't work that way.
  13. Wow... corney BUT seriously good ridding on those stix... I remember my old Simms... man those bindings (Simms) sucked.
  14. I should have bought the whole thing this morning and risked marital :eek:. FARK! Gawd... someone sell me some decent bindings so I stop looking at all these beautiful boards... I need help.
  15. Scrutton and others- I too would like Catek World cup bindings (long plate) any leads or offers? Thanks!!!
  16. I always wondered what year was my tanker (00-01). Thanks!

  19. Released many times... (softboot step-ins (Burton & O-Sin & K2 clicker))... Surprisingly the Burton system was the worst?! Even had the boot connection crack in two with those! Always rear foot... many small wipeouts trying to slow down ... no injuries (W00t!).
